Just moved in last month, as an international student, the move felt kind of overwhelming in the beginning, however with time things started to mellow down and I settled in well and now it feels like home. Jackie honestly feels like a parental figure and she handles everything of the building. The maintenance requests if any are solved as soon as possible too. The security for the building is also great because there’s multiple doors you will have to go through and there’s rules and regulations for guests that you have to abide by. I love that the building is nice, quiet and peaceful. It’s located at a good location as well as the bus stop is 6 mins walk from the accommodation. The internet has been great with around 200 mbps over wifi. The cellular network however can be really bad and you will have to walk out of your room or possibly out of the building to receive a call over mobile network which can be quite a hassle. Overall, great place to stay!

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I like Hydrogen but wouldn't say I love it purely because the rent is too high and it is too secure as you have to give notice to the manager that family e.g. friends are staying the night. The company expect students to pay for the price of what it is. However, the students are absolutely lovely and the staff as well especially Jackie who is the Accommodation Manager. She even agrees that the rent is too high! Everyone is very friendly and there is a nice comfortable social space to unwind. Hardly any maintenance issues yet as it's modern. Even if there is the maintenance team are very good at responding usually within a day! A great place to live but the rent is too high! So remember to check it out before you decide to get it...
Management are super friendly, and very prompt to respond to any issues that may arise. Location is perfect as you are right in the middle of town, near shops and bus stops/train stations.
Thankyou for your rewiew. kind regards Hydrogen team.

Thankyou so much for you lovely review, Im happy you are enjoying your stay with us. Kind regards Hydrogen
I love that the accommodation is in the middle of the market street and just a 10 min walk to the bus stop.
Thankyou for your review.
Clean modern rooms in a very convenient central location in town for getting around.
Thankyou for your review.
I really like living at Hydrogen. I enjoy being in the center of town and the space is clean and well-managed. Maintenance is always quick if needed and the rooms are well-suited to your needs. It would be nice to have more opportunities for meeting people and being social, but other than that, I like it here!
Thankyou for your review, we are happy that you like living here at Hydrogen. Regards The team at Hydrogen.
Great value for money, bills included, tenancy all year round in a great location in Falmouth on high street, short walk to bus and train stops as well as the beaches at Gylly/Castle. Duty manager is really accommodating and happy to help whenever queries/issues arise and there's space downstairs to study + socialise
Thankyou for your review , I agree Hydrogen is a great place to stay.
Hydrogen has been so welcoming and Jackie is so kind. There’s always onsite support if you need it, overall a great place!
Thankyou for your review, we are always here for all out students. happy that you like staying with us. Regards The team at Hydrogen Falmouth
My experience has been really good so far, I feel safe here and the staff in reception are always very polite and friendly, making me feel welcome. Occasionally the WiFi, hasn’t work for a little while, but by-and-large, it’s as fast as they claim, all the time. The location is also very good, being right in the centre of town means you’re close to everything, but with the windows closed you wouldn’t think it with how quiet it is.
Good morning, Thankyou for your review and were all happy to know you are enjoying your time with us at Hydrogen. Hope you will be here again next year. thanks Jackie and the team :-)
Management has been amazing & the apartments are great value for money (same price as uni accommodation and you get your own studio apartment). Highly recommend to any international students studying in Falmouth.
Thankyou for leaving your rewiew, its great to know that you are enjoying your stay with us. Hope you will be with us again next year. Regards Jackie and the team at Hydrogen.
Hydrogen is a great quiet, clean open space for students. Jackie and Ian are especially helpful and super friendly. A main thing I like is the high end security and safety maintained outside and inside the building. The only thing I wish, as a first year student, would to be more events within the building to get to know other students living in the building too. :)
Good morning and thankyou for your review, I agree Hydrogen is lovely and quite, great if you want to consentrate of your study work. myself and Ian are always here if you need anything. I will have a look at your comment regarding social events and see what we can do. Kind regards Jackie and the team.
Good place to live, handy location
Thankyou for your review and hope you will stay with us again next year.
Really friendly environment, nice area and convenient for town and university. Security and staff on site 24/7 and good facilities
Thankyou im so happy you are enjoying your stay at Hydrogen.
it’s a good spot to live, could do with more washing machines
Thankyou for leaving Hydrogen a review, i agree living right in the heart of town is great and close to everything you need. we are happy you like staying here.
The main issue with Hydrogen is the security and guest policy - no guests are allowed (unless pre-approved by Jackie) after 11pm and security are hired to prevent unapproved entry. Security work every Friday and Saturday as well as random days throughout the week. Tenants must show their keys and provide their name to get entry to their rooms and certain security guards require that formal photo ID is shown too. Due to these rules, Hydrogen is the least social accommodation Falmouth has to offer - forget inviting over a significant other or friends if you haven’t already asked Jackie 9-5, Monday-Friday. These procedures contradict our tenancy agreement. Tenants joke that Big Brother is always watching because of the frequent and inappropriate use of CCTV - photo stills have even been distributed by Jackie to friends of tenants (data and privacy breach). Ultimately a fantastic place to live has been ruined - you couldn’t pay me to live here next year.
Thank you for your review, saying what a fantastic place it is to live and highlighting how safe and fantastic the security is at Hydrogen which Im sure will be a great comfort to any parent. Security is in place for the safety and support of all our students and available throughout the night if needed so all students can enjoy the brilliant amenity spaces on offer. The staff here are always available if you want to have a chat about anything. Kind regards Jackie Seymour
Rooms are clean and well fitted and corridors and communal areas are well maintained. The office staff are friendly and helpful and do their best to help with any issues or concerns in a prompt manner. Good location directly off the high street, and yet no issue with noise. Some wifi issues but jackie is working hard to resolve them. With key fob access, gate, security and cctv building feels secure.
Hi, Its great to hear you are happy living at Hydrogen Falmouth and feel safe, its a great place to be in the middle of Falmouth and near University.
Since moving in in September 2022, these are the problems I have faced. Only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers for 120 students. Wifi is temperamental at best and currently on day 4 of no WiFi at all and seemingly no fixes coming and no offer of a refund or anything. Installation of meters to track how much electric and water we are using following our move in, with the possibility they may start charging extra in the coming weeks, even though the contract is all bills included. Other residents here have no regard for others, loud and smoke inside the rooms half the time making the hallways and sometimes my room smell of cigarettes and / or weed. The rooms are designed more for looks than functionality, definitely not worth the money, even more so as prices are going up for Sept 2023. The pros Staff here are lovely and help as much as they can. Good location, in the centre of town, walk to Falmouth campus in 20ish mins and easy access to buses to Penryn Campus.
Good afternoon, It’s great to read that you have had such a positive impression of the team at Hydrogen, knowing you have someone that you can go to for everything is extremely important within a student accommodation building, so were really pleased this has been the case for yourself. We are aware of the temporary WIFI issues you encountered, unfortunately some recent poor weather conditions meant that the WIFI across the whole of Falmouth went down, we did respond to this as quickly as possible, and did have the back up and running at 200mb, and whilst we acknowledge there was an issue, I am very confident this was resolved as quickly as we were able. Regarding the electricity meters, as with all new buildings, it is common practice for a building like ours to install meters into each area, whilst we have never charged anyone extra, our contract does refer you to a fair usage policy, and the reason for these meters is to make sure all people are using a fair amount. Unfortunately, within a building of 112 people, we are going to get some people not behaving in a way that is respectful to others, to mitigate this we do have an on call number, so in these events I would encourage you to use this, we also have a security team available should you need support. We do not expect anyone to feel uncomfortable in their room, so please do reach out if you need any support. Finally, I am pleased that our location has proved popular with yourself, we agree, in the right weather it is a really nice walk to the Penryn Campus and been in the centre of town really helps. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review for Hydrogen.
Jackie in the office is brilliant. Wifi is extremely hit or miss, we’ve currently had no wifi for 4 days now and there has been no discussion of a refund or when we will be back online, I have missed a few important University calls due to there being no wifi! I love my room but I would agree with other reviews and say that they are very expensive for what you get, I guess that’s what you get with living in the town and the rooms being studios. The social spaces are nice with comfy seats and a massive tv but you can only sit there most of the time if you know most of the people that live here cause otherwise you get glared at until you move. Some of the residents do ruin living here for other people by being noisy in the early hours of the morning when they’re coming back home from nights out on the weekend and just being inconsiderate of others. Most residents also don’t seem to understand how the recycling scheme works in Cornwall so some days our rubbish doesn’t get collected.
Good morning, Im sorry about the issues we have been having with our Wifi and fully understand how fustrating this is, I have called Wifinity a few times over the weekend and been advised that there is a national issues and doing everything they can to rectify the issue. Im calling to follow this up again today. Our studio's are very nice and perfect for university life, brand new, clean, modern and right in town for eveything you need. Please do let me know if anyone is being overly noisey in the evenings so I can have a chat with them, i want you to have a great experiance here and enjoy yourself. The staff here are always available if you want to have a chat about anything. Kind regards Jackie
Jackie is super great, and all the RCs too! Some residents do ruin it for the rest of us though, and the WiFi is hit and miss
I reccomend, is spenny but if you can afford it's worth the space
Thank you for leaving us a rewiew and hope that you will stay again next year. best wishes Jackie and the team.
Friendly, kind and welcoming are how I would describe the environment at Hydrogen and its staff. From when I first moved in Jackie was there to listen and help any issues I have had. She continues to be a friendly face to greet no matter the day. The building and rooms itself are stunning and the best and nicest place I have ever lived. The rooms are pretty and spacious, feeling more like a place I live then a place I sleep. I would recommend this place to anyone that was looking for accommodation, but in particular anyone looking for first time accommodation. I have lived in many different student accommodations, and I can't think of a single that was better or that is comfyer for your first time away from home.
Good afternoon, Thankyou for your review, its great to hear that you are happy with your accomadation at Hydrogen, I agree its a great place for student to come and stay. Kind regards Jackie Seymour.
An amazing location with the ability to socialise with others but also time to yourself if needed. Issues are dealt with in a timely manner and the communication between the office and us students is great. Perfect for my year of study and for us to be able to explore Falmouth and the surrounding area!
Thankyou for submitting your review, Im glad you are happy staying here at Hydrogen. Im looking forward to getting to know you all over the next week or so. Kind Regards Jackie
