really really really really really good
The hall is moderately modern and the en-suite bathrooms are very convenient. Kitchen is cleaned most weeks and bedrooms are cleaned (mostly) every two. Staff are lovely and issues are quickly resolved. Huge issue as a student though - there is ZERO service here, meaning I have to rely on wifi for connection. This means I cannot send/receive a text message or phone call. Additionally, the WiFi is ridiculously slow and cuts out so frequently it’s a concern. It’s hard to do work, watch any videos or FaceTime/WhatsApp family when I have no service and the wifi barely works. Many people have reported this, it gets fixed temporarily and then goes back to being awful after like a week. Really hard especially in today’s technological world. Otherwise, hall is great - very costly though considering cleaning isn’t every week as stated, there’s no service and there’s terrible wifi.
Very enjoyable and great flat and space
Loved it! Just a bit expensive
There should be an option to not have the room cleaning service as part of the hall fees. Freshers fees are not value for money
Very nice hall with great warden team.
Rigg-Rut is a very social hall and feels like a community. Good relationships between committee and residents. Rooms and kitchens are modern and functional, cleaned once a week. Good location, near to the library, holywell gym and west park.
Loved my time in this hall! As it is one of the smaller halls there are great opportunities to get involved with ims as well as be on committee for the hall. Large social and cooking spaces within each flat allow great connections to be made with your flat!
Best halls going, great stuff.
A close knit community that is welcoming
Really friendly hall that feels like a family
A very close-knit friendly hall in a good location on campus
It’s literally one big family in Rigg rut. One of the most involved halls around
Best accommodation on campus. Such a good community as the accommodation isn’t too big, so everyone looks out for everyone. Feel a lot safer than other accommodations.
Brilliant little family, nice kitchen and social spaces available as well
Rigg-Rut is by far the best hall on campus. I lived there for two years and had two amazing flats. We always kill it with social involvement, and I was even on committee for the Hall so know how well run it is.
Good accomodation in centre of campus
Really nice hall with a really engaging and welcoming community
A really nice close-knit community.
A good halls if having an ensuite is important to you. Very cliquey with committee members leading these cliques. If given the chance again, I would not go into this hall, and instead go in a non-ensuite hall.
Great place to live, try to get involved
Hi member1241556 Thanks for the review. Great to see you encouraging others to get involved! All the best Tendo
The hall is like a community. Everyone is friendly and the committee goes out of their way to make sure everyone has a great year
The Hall itself is modern, attractive and is well located with the library being only 5-7 minutes away. The rooms are cleaned once a week and generally is very nice with the ensuite being a huge bonus. This hall though in my opinion doesn't have enough diversity from different ethnic backgrounds, all the social experiences especially freshers is very drinking and clubbing based which is fine but there should also been alternatives available for e.g. Muslim students who don't follow this.
This is the only hall on campus that actually feels like a family - being one of the smallest, everyone knows everyone in Rigg-Rut and it is by far one of the mightiest!
The only reason I moved out of Halls in my second year was because my flatmates were too and I didn't want to get left behind. I would 100% have spent my full 3 years in Halls and have so many fond memories of my time there.
Staying in Hazlerigg Rutland halls for the first two years, I completely made the most of the true accommodation experience. Not only is Loughborough a family, but this is especially highlighted in halls. Rigg-Rut was one of the smallest on campus and everyone knew everyone. I immediately felt at home.
Small but inviting Hall where everyone knows everyone. Everybody's friendly and willing to help each other. Definitely best community Hall on campus. Best self catered choice hands down.
Great hall with a great family community. Everyone knows everyone and has a lot of fun. If you're going to Loughborough it is the place to be!
Small hall so social experience with hall members is easy. Wi-Fi for Apple devices need serious reworking that's true for all halls though.
Very friends and communal feeling hall. Made me feel very comfortable throughout my first year. Staying at Hazlerigg Rutland has made my university experience what it is!
The absolute best hall on campus; close to the union, minutes from the library, its right in the middle of all the action. Small, but mighty Rigg-Rut gets better and better every year
Rigg-Rut has the best community feel, due to the small size everyone knows everyone making it feel like home. The rooms are modern and kitchen's are cleaned every week (however the cleaning standard is not as good as it could be). No other hall is quite like Rigg-Rut!
Best two years of my life so far, amazing always something going on
The only hall of accomodation on Loughborough University campus that actually feels like a family, everyone knows everyone and you can't deny the love in Rigg-Rut
Amazing hall, so friendly and so sociable!
Small Hall but that means everyone knows everyone! Best hall social wise on campus, with killer punch party and hall organised nights out. A great committee who makes sure the hall is ran in the best way, Rigg Rut really is a family hall.
You'll learn to be part of Rigg-Rut as it's a small hall so you'll end up knowing everyone. A great family spirit and easily the best hall on campus!
Best hall on campus! one big family xox
Simply the best hall on campus! It has such a great atmosphere and family feel! You will most definitely make friends for life! Your flat contains as you will ever need as a student and the halls social events such as punch parties or halls are always top notch! Would definitely recommend for any students wanting to come to Loughborough!
Even though it's a bit pricey, it's worth it! Just the right amount of people in your flat, good sized rooms, beds, and ensuites! Literally 3 minutes walk from the library.
Hazlerigg Rutland is by far the best hall on campus because we are not just a hall we are one big happy family
The best hall by far, nicest people going
The best hall in loughborough, there is no closer group of people anywhere else. You really do feel like a family, on nights out and events everyone sticks together, the best three years of my life!
AMAZING social experience. About a 7 minute walk to most my lectures. Cleaners are moody and strict (but who wouldn't be when cleaning for students). Expensive but you're paying for new, big bedrooms and kitchens. 110% would choose here if I was a fresher again.
Big enough hall for a great university experience in terms of social life, sport, volunteering etc but small enough that you know everybody and feel a genuine community spirit. Comes at an expensive price tag but if it's something you're willing to pay for, the facilities are generally amazing, though the common room could be utilised far more.
Couldn't find a better hall on campus
Extremely clean, warm, modern and very comfortable to live in.
AMAZING HALL! I love how it is the smallest hall on campus so we are like a family. The rooms and kitchens are a great size but the only downfall is the shocking internet. ethernet is fine thought. CHOOSE RIGG RUT!
BEST HALL ON CAMPUS 100% Rigg-Rut forever
A small hall but this amplifies the sense of community. It's in a good half way point I never the university, being both 10 minutes from Holywell and from the union. The rooms are spacious and the ensuite is great.
small but mighty, best hall on campus
Hazlerigg-Rutland (or Rigg-Rut) is one of the smallest halls in Loughborough but despite this it carries a great reputation of being a great family hall with great social aspects, helpful management and great location being in the centre of the campus, easy to get to lectures, 5 mins from Holywell gym, 7mins Union walk and 2 mins away from the library. Great hall and would be a great decision to go live there
It really is a 'small but mighty' hall and offers a friendly, fun and exciting beginning to your time at University. As it is the smallest hall on campus it creates a tight-knit community you cannot beat!
Being the smallest hall on campus, it's easy to know the majority of people in the hall. This is particularly useful in situations where you may find yourself separated from the people you're with, as you'll always see someone you know. Great hall for first year at lboro!!!
Best year of my life, so good I'm staying there again
Best hall on campus. Small with great community atmosphere.
Too expensive but nice ensuite rooms and kitchen, i would like more table games
Small. Mighty, Hazlerigg Rutland. Slap bang in the student village, same as Robert Bakewell and Elvyn in terms of the most luxurious halls on campus but undeniably better than both because our small population means you'll know every single resident and be part of an unrivalled community spirit. Anyone who's in Rigg Rut knows its the best hall in loughborough
The best hall on campus. Amazing family feel
Close knit hall community, lovely cleaners especially Babs! They're a bit of a **** with the whole clean for the cleaners or get fined thing
Absolutely amazing hall. Great sense of community; small so you get to know everyone and can get involved easily with anything. So much fun, great placement because you're right in the centre of campus and neither end of campus is more of a trek than the other. Kitchen and bedroom get cleaned too!
Great small community driven hall where everyone knows everyone and everyone is welcome
