The experience is going great. Whole campus is well equipped and worth the time to study. While studying in University of Hertfordshire I’m learning a lot of things.
The University of Hertfordshire is a modern and career-focused institution located in Hatfield, just a short train ride from London. Known for its emphasis on employability, it offers practical programs with strong industry connections, helping students gain valuable experience through internships and placements. The university's modern facilities, such as state-of-the-art labs and creative studios, cater well to its diverse student body. While its research reputation is not as strong as some peers, Hertfordshire provides a supportive and vibrant campus life, making it an appealing choice for students seeking a practical education in a diverse and dynamic environment.
I appreciate the communal areas, such as kitchens and living spaces, which are well-maintained, fostering a friendly, social atmosphere.
I had a fantastic experience studying for my MSc in Environment Management for Agriculture at Hertfordshire University. The course was well-structured and covered a wide range of topics, from sustainable agriculture practices to environmental policy and management. The lecturers were knowledgeable and supportive, and the facilities were top-notch. One of the highlights of the course was the opportunity to work on real-world projects and collaborate with industry partners. This gave me hands-on experience and helped me build valuable connections in the field. The university's location is also a big plus - it's close to London and has great transport links, making it easy to explore the city and access internships and job opportunities. Overall, I'd highly recommend Hertfordshire University and the MSc Environment Management for Agriculture course to anyone looking to pursue a career in sustainable agriculture and environmental management. 5 stars..!
It's really really amazing. The University infrastructure and events are too good to interactive with the fellow students.
First saw information about university of Hertfordshire at a careers event at college, I found out that they do international sandwich year completely free of tuition fees and even pay for your ticket. As an illustrator who loves to travel, it hooked me on the university, which then led me to find that it is number one in the country for my course of illustration. I am in one of the cheapest accommodations, things aren’t perfect but as soon as we tell them about it they send maintenance and try to fix it. They have lots of diverse societies and offer a lot of support for careers and courses.
One of the best university ones in the country for Aerospace Engineering. Amazing facilities and experiences for the course. Has the biggest building on the campus for all SPECS students.
Average university in every aspect. Not too good, not too bad.
truly disappointed in the teaching and the lack of support, wouldnt reccomend
A gorgeous campus with a lot of programs to choose from. The campus has a lot of activities to do ranging from sports and exercise to parties.
So far my experience has been great the lecturers are really helpful.
The university is really big, well organized and very beautiful
The internet works everywhere and the carter service at the business school are out of this world
It's a nice uni, very active, a lot of activities to do with approachable lecturers.
Great facilities provided for students, supportive faculty members..
Nice campus and facilities. Faculty is helpful
One of the best university in UK for your higher studies. Alao a great support for other curricular activities, career opportunities etx.
I am studying here and the enviroment is quite good
Well , I find University of Hertfordshire very conducive for learning and accommodating . A fantastic global experience and education, gaining independence and confidence whilst making friends from all over the world.
Generally, it’s overwhelming for me. Still struggling to find a balance in the world of work and choosing a career path
They never help students no matter what. Not responsive to the emails.
Every module that is in my programme I enjoyed, the lectures, assignments and learnt from it. Happy with the facilities that university is providing. Now I am in my final year and University is preparing us for interviews, explaining through a course and guiding us through the events and through career resources I can check my cv, get review even can book 1 to 1 session with career guidance team. University is doing everything possible thing in preparing a student to go into the job world and conquer.
The University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield offers a wide range of high-quality academic programs and facilities. The campus is modern and well-equipped, providing students with a comfortable and stimulating learning environment. The university also has a strong focus on student experience and offers a vibrant social scene, with many opportunities for extracurricular activities and events. Overall, I would highly recommend the University of Hertfordshire to anyone looking for a top-notch university education.
Admission teams are not professional compared to any average university. Some university staff are very helpful but some are lacking in experiences they do not know how to resolve issues I have all the evidence for it . So I am asking all Uk and international student to make sure to have alternative option open to anyone as University of Hertfordshire is not reliable. Try keep it 3rd or 4th choice in ucas. If you do not believe me try get in touch with ask Herts regarding anything I bet your experience will help you decide for the bright future with excellent career which is the major concern for any intelligent student.
My experience with the university hasn't been a great one unfortunately! I enrolled on a Master’s course with University of Hertfordshire as it is my closest university offering the course that I wanted to undertake and I wanted to benefit face-to-face lectures and interactions with other students. Due to COVID and university decisions surrounding students on campus, this hasn’t been possible, however, I have still been expected to pay full tuition fees, for what amounts to an online course. If I had wanted to do an online course I would have picked another institution to study with. Although the academic element of my course has been fine (and comparable to that of an online course) I have found that other student support services have been almost non-existent. I have found the university to in-flexible and not student centred in the least. It is a business and treats students as numbers to help them meet the bottom line. Due to the above I would not recommend this university.
This is a good university to attend
Great first year experience! I loved my course
Campus and staff are supportive, especially the student well-being department after getting my diagnostic assessment and getting ready for my final year of university.
it’s a great place to study and learn
no pastoral care or support of any kind especially for international students, the only thing they do well is collect money on time.
Good uni, nice town, great facilaties
Always something to do around campus. Lots of free activities which are really enjoyable. They also have a good range of restaurant options on campus. accommodation is great here, except Telford
The campus is dirty and disorganised, with entirely ineffective security. The Dean seems to have zero power when it comes to managing departments and this greatly shows in the overall poor quality of education here.
The campus is really nice, plenty of places to meet with friends or get food/ study. Most of the staff I have encountered have been brilliant and when I have had a problem it has been rectified. The societies have been brilliant, I've been involved with several and even on the committee for both a society and a sports team.
If you're thinking about coming to this Uni, don't bother. Don't get me wrong, it's decent.....if you have 0 problems that need to be resolved in your time being there. Which I'll tell you now, you 100% will. You basically pay 9 grand to teach yourself, and this pandemic has proven that nobody actually knows how to do their job. The nightlife isn't great unless you know people, which thankfully I did, everything is overpriced and the shuttle bus shows up when it feels like it. The WiFi is s***, the exams are worded in such a complex way that it's basically setting you up to fail. All in all, if you want a rapid decrease in your mental health, and have repeated emotional and stress induced breakdowns like me, this is the uni for you...
Received no support from lecturers, clubs aren’t safe, campus is designed alright but rubbish WiFi, terrible security & rooms poorly designed.
First year at this uni, during the pandemic has been somewhat kind of a nightmare. Before the pandemic hit, the on campus accommodation that I lived in had many technical issues! One of those was the vacuum that was already broken before me and my housemates had moved in. When Covid hit, I had to leave my contract early, and the university withheld my security deposit within any actual reason and enforced a damage fee on my household individually which was very heartbreaking. At one point they still wanted students to pay for a full term even if you decided to leave the university and head back home! We have been very vocal on our disappointment on how they have handled their students this year, hopefully they’ll do something about this and comeback with better grace for the following year. I have emailed just recently in regards to receiving my security deposit back as the pandemic has hit myself and family hard and employment is becoming hard to find. I’m due to just transferring!
In general, the University is fine but if you have any problem it’s really hard to get help. Wellbeing is ordinary at best and not helpful (not enough follow up to make a difference) it’s like the whole uni can only provide the bare minimum but if there’s actually trouble it’s all hush hush. I’ve had to do formal complaints for bullying and what they told me was, you’ll ruin the other students life and it’s not really worth it but we have 0 tolerance for that behaviour. Ended up winning that complaint but honestly the school bullied me more than the student did. So yeah don’t expect help.
I did BA Fashion&Fashion Business for 3 years and honestly...my first year was not as great. The tutors rushed the work and expected you to know everything...as it got to the second year we had a visiting lecturer who taught us for the whole year. Again, shabbles as she did not understand everything and read off a powerpoint. However, some lectures did understand and also explained things well and made it interesting! The libraryy is amazing but the food? No. Get take away! The facilities is amazing, enough campus space to chill and relax! Would recommend coming here for uni life as it is 30 mins away from London!
This university has pretty good Wi-Fi service and most of the teams are very helpful!
There are always computers available in both libraries and the internet speed is good. Silent study areas are also readily avaiable and rooms can be booked for group work. Have career help and you may have the opportunity to do a practice assessment center which is a valuable experience.
hertfordshire is a best reputed university in the world.I also want admission in it
Christ almighty, spare yourself and look elsewhere! Hatfield is an absolute dump and incredibly depressing to be in. Everything is overpriced due to being so close to London. Teaching on my course (Psychology) has been incredibly underwhelming to say the least. I'm in my final year and can't wait to graduate. Lack of communication, opportunities and disorganisation is everywhere. You are literally paying to teach yourself. Most of the time your grades and subsequent degree classification is based on pot luck due to inconsistencies with grading, or dependent on whoever happens to be marking your work on that occasion. May be different for other courses, but don't expect a great deal of support in terms of networking and career opportunities either. Facilities and support services may be available but for the most part are there for decoration, absolutely useless if you need help with something specific.
Brilliant facilities all over campus and lots to do all the time
Top university, very underrated
spent the worst year at the uni of herts. came through clearing. very unsociable, societies only religious or cultural, can only really go on nights out on campus as there is nothing going on in Hatfield, accommodation overpriced and security don't care when you ring them up, hard to make friends, tried to move flats and wasn't permitted, literal nightmare. glad that ive left to transfer elsewhere! (lecturers were really nice though)!
has the most slowest internet connection. f****** ridiculous considering you pay 9.25k
Lectures are well educated, my undergrad supervisor was a Cambridge and Oxford graduate. Wifi, the facilities are very modern. However, most of the thing will depend on you, many of friends complaint the didn't learn anything during their course, but at the same time, some of my friends are working now in JP Morgan and other well-known companies.
Awful, I tried the computer science online -MSc here and the lecturer Andrew Pyper didn’t go past unit 1..... so I quit.
Had a good first year experience.
Poor organisation in a lot of courses. Wifi barely ever works. IT team make changes to setting mid module which prevents us from doing our coursework on the uni machines. In my last year at this uni now and my overall rating i would give is 4/10 at most.
Having a fantastic time here. I've always had the support I've needed and there is plenty of fun to be had at the Elehouse and the forum.
Generally a very good university sometimes they are unorganized but a good choice for anyone wanting to do law
My experiance at Universityof Hertfordshire has been very good so far. I have had alot of support from the staff allowing me to work well. I have met people from various other countries that I would consider my best friends and just enjoy working with them in a group. I am glad that I have chosen this University and would like to continue with the same if possible for my future studies. I am very much thankful to Miss 'Anjali Kapoor'.Without her support and encouragement I wouldn't have achieved this. My whole heartedly thanks to her. Thanks to all the team of University of Hertfordshire.
A very good campus where there are 24/7 services to enhance your learning. Internet is easy to connect to, events that unite all student occurs time to time, employment and cv services are on standby if needed and lots of graduate fair are held to help us find job after.
The only good thing that comes to mind is the student societies and the on-campus pub. Aside from that, the university is terrible, especially for commuter students.
This uni tries its best to give its students a practical understanding of what they are studying and I would say it is paying off. The staff are all friendly and understanding (to a limit of course), and are happy to provide feedback or help when asked. Other than the campus WiFi sometimes slowing down, I would honestly recommend this university to anyone who has a passion for what they want to study.
Campus is awesome with alot of activities to do everyday
Fine university and the area around it is very quiet but at weekends everything is closed in the uni (shops, cafes). And also sometimes the wifi is not working
Herts uni has great sports and social clubs and would highly reccommmend joining one
It’s a good university to be honest
One of the best uni for the fine arts
It's one of the best things to do by having exposure and becoming independent.
Infrastructure is amazing in the university, multi cultural university and university also takes up some steps to mix all the students from different cultures.
I moved from newcastle to hertfordshire uni and I love it.
While experience was amazing, teachers were the most supportive, the course was amazing
I came here because the course is what I wanted, however I have had issues with housing, society choices are limited and it is not in a student friendly area.
Study psychology at this uni it is a lot better than beds and has good facilities and teaching quality
A very honest review. Most people who come to this university live in a near by town as a way to either save on accommodation by commuting in or as it is comforting knowing that home is near. International students only come to the University of Hertfordshire as they think it will be like London as it’s so close when it’s not. As a third year student, I like this university, but if I had gone back and picked somewhere better I would have. The WiFi has always been terrible, and the facilities are minimal. Staff are generally not useful when you need help so if you think you’ll get help, you’re wrong! You’re on your own. If you don’t make friends, then be excited for a very lonely, and boring university experience. You’ll be finding yourself desperate to get away from this place whenever you have the chance.
Great help from tutors and members of su
Best university. It really does care about you're education and future
My corse itself is amazing and my lectures as well. however, everything is ridiculously exspencive yet they can’t even afford to keep the forum up when it’s the only club in the town, makes you wonder where all the moneys going.
A good uni, but WiFi is awful as is clubs, only cultural and religious ones
High quality campus living and student services. Good opportunities within courses.
Student union is poor needs more good nights out music is awful
Very clean, modern, lively and safe campus. Equipment and teaching of amazing quality. Go Herts !
4 stars, all the facilities are very good and improving, the downside however is that Hatfield is pretty dead
It has been an amazing experience studying at herts for 3 years.
It is one of the best college.
Amazing experience, gets you ready for the working world
I’ve been at UoH for just under 2 academic years and it’s been an absolutely INCREDIBLE experience. The lecturers and faculty staff are approachable and helpful, and the same applies to the Careers’ service department. I came to Herts not fully knowing what options were out there and how beneficial they could be. Now, I’m fully aware of such opportunities and have a clearer goal in mind.
Pretty standard everything nothing stands out mad drugs
Support from teachers and non academic staff is amazing.
Except for internet services in Apple phones, everything is awesome!
WiFi is shocking, especially in spalding, it never works
Staying in accommodation: Telford Court is a cheap, out of date block of buildings that need to be knocked down and started again, key cards stop working, radiators and showers stop working, shame. All the other accommodation areas are fine however. WiFi: extremely slow and constant poor service, don't have any mobile network coverage in my room. The NAT type the WiFi runs through is strict, which means playing games with friends is a no-go. Students Union: I guess is responsible for Uni bus, poor service that cancels buses without notifying you, I've waited up to an hour and a half for three bus that were cancelled and I had no clue until I walked home and asked a bus driver the next day. Facilities: excellent, constant computer access either at the LRC or the FMM editing suite is perfect, and a loan store to take out equipment is wonderful to have for my film course. There are plenty of places to stay, chill and eat.
The presidents of the SU are the best
Beautiful school to look at, but it's to pricey for what they give.
Teaching and study spaces are absolutely excellent, lecturers are very passionate about their field and love encouraging students' curiosity. Accommodation is affordable and cleverly designed to optimise space. Active Students provides free recreational sport/exercise sessions which promote a healthy lifestyle that students can access, which also benefits your studies.
Amazing university! Only on my first year but enjoying it so so much already.
Utterly disappointing. I do psychology, some lecturers you can tell are dedicated to the subject, others you can tell don’t even want to be there. Even after complaining about certain things, no actions have been taken to resurrect these things- so sometimes the staff don’t care as much as they should about the quality of education. The area is absolutely awful, I wish I looked around more when I came to an open day- all I was told was the uni is “close to London” so assumed people would be going out in London often... they don’t. The one club on campus is okay, obviously you can make a good night out of anything but it definitely isn’t anything to write home about. It is also sooo expensive, it has all the London prices without the London activities. The students however, are so friendly and lovely and they genuinely are friends for life. Bottom line- if you want a social life, don’t pick herts, If you don’t mind a quiet uni to knuckle down then maybe it’s the one for you.
Not upto the expectation. Really disappointed
Amazing experience. So much to do. Great staff loved it!!!
An average university with average teaching and facilities. You basically pay to teach yourself.
The business school is great! Really take on the students opinion to improve their university life!
The organisation of timetables or tutors giving out old or incorrect briefs is very common across many subjects I myself studied fashion but friends across other creative courses such as product design, fine art and photography struggled to get the answers and help when briefs were incorrectly written.
University of Hertfordshire keeps on growing beautifully and there are more activities for students
Active and involved university with a lot of things to do and explore within it.
Great campus and LRC, but social life is terrible. 1 nightclub in the town, nearest ones are about 30/45 mins away on a bus. Society’s rarely have events and the one time I went to one, the event was very poorly arranged and was delayed by over an hour. A trip that people had paid deposits for never even happened. Social groups are very segregated. WiFi in college lane accommodation works for about 3 hours a day meaning I keep using up all my data. If socialising is important to you, this wouldn’t be a good choice.
