came to Salford to study podiatry and couldn't be happier with my choice, the uni is extremely welcoming and friendly with staff going above and beyond to help students whenever they need it. The facilities are outstanding for academic purposes and transport between different campuses is fairly hassle free. Overall an excellent experience so far
Facilities are great, especially in newer buildings. The campus is safe, and green spaces are well located.
Really fun place to study, the people you’ll meet and the memories you’ll make here are really special. The lecturers and staff seem to enjoy their job and are always friendly, helpful, and accommodating to any issues you may have. The student union is great too, hosting events every week and serving fairly cheap and nice food (get the katsu fries!) the uni is well placed too, with a very big park only a minute walk from the student union.
I’m currently at the end of my second year and I have 1 year left. If I’m honest, when I’m done I’ll miss it here. I’ve made some amazing friends and I really have enjoyed my time at uni here. I’m not a “go out every night” type of student, so I spend a lot of time on and around campus and I’ve loved every minute!
The University of Salford is the epitome of the university money making scheme designed to draw students in offering them teaching and great qualifications, but instead you are met with a university that meets the bare minimum requirements of what it has to do and does not care for its staff or students. Whilst some of the staff are lovely, most are here for the pay and ability to write books about their respected fields with teaching becoming a chore on top of this, which is clear through the lack of outdated modules and little to no contact from them or the university outside of teaching. Students are here for one reason and one reason only, money.
My experience at the uni so far has been better than I expected, but a few issues like bullying they don't tend to deal with. But if you miss one day due to being extremely ill you're flooded with phone calls and emails threatening to boot you out. Nice friendly atmosphere though with great access to local amenities.
I am enjoying my time at university but if i was gonna complain about anything it'd probably be the societies, 95% of them are sports related. I understand sport is extremely popular but theres also alot of people, like myself, who dont like sports or aren't involved in any. I would like to see a more diverse range such as crafting, and maybe music, tv and games, anything else really
Had a great time in first year can’t wait to get started on the second
Anyhow studying in Salford university will make me pleasure giving good services though .
My course is super fun and the lecturers are harsh but helpful sometimes
Good campus with some activities and a generally upbeat environment
Student Union barley has any diversity in regard to music and culture. Overall beautiful campus and great sports hall
The University of Salford is an institution that I would recommend to anyone. The school has a lot of resources to help each student succeed in their academic journey and career.
For my course, its probably the best in the country. Great location and facilities. Good staff. Probably needing more study spaces at MediaCity
Good! Student store on peel park campus should be cheaper as it is very expensive even tho it’s aimed at students
There are many open areas on the campus to socialise or work. The park is also a good place for the more outdoorsy people.
I had the pleasure of completing my Masters at Salford Business School. The topics covered throughout the different courses were up-to-date and based on real-life cases.
It's not the worst. The course I attend is okay and I have gotten a lot out of it.
It's average, nothing special, but not bad
The staff here are so nice! anything I need help with they are always there for me!
I’ve had a great experience so far as a first year at the university of Salford. The accommodation staff are friendly and the students around campus are friendly too. It has a very warm and welcoming feel. The flats are of high standard and are secure
I like the campus because it makes me feel safe. The rooms are really nice and the staff are good with support.
Good accommodation with friendly staff and very safe campus
I love being a student at the University of Salford!
Really nice staff who are alwaying willing to talk and help you out ❤️
Fun uni, terrible wifi unfortunately
I really like the atmosphere that is created in the student union and themed nights
University of Salford is a really great place to study and learn. I have made so many friends and love student life!
University of Salford has many facilities available to students
great uni, nice park next to it, decent labs and mostly lovely lecturers
Great uni, a little bit could be improved hear and there though
Great university with new modern buildings and great professors that are great at relaying information and passion.
Great university with excellent facilities available
Good experience. Nice campus.welcoming
Good facilities, campus and learning resources available, blackboard is useful for accessing materials at home.
The university of Salford is a great university who give people a chance. The support over covid lacked and it could be better however, overall good experience.
Honestly, the best move I could have made to support my career! I can’t speak of the tutors highly enough in their support of my training! All round safe friendly environment where you are the most important part!
Many of the lecturers are racist. They discouraged me because they have low expectations for black students. The only support I got was from other students and my personal tutor. My experience has traumatised me. I regret studying at this uni. I wish I went to MMU. I dont recommend it
Salford is like my home away from home. So welcoming with a diverse range of students from different backgrounds with lots to teach and learn. Well-being is top priority here with adjustments made for those who need extra support. Also these adjustments are made without any judgement with each module leader being notified about any adjustment plan in place for a student. The societies are great which provide a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends. Facilities such as study rooms all over both campuses make for a great way to do group study or prep for a group presentation/project. Finally, there are many career linked opportunities to get involved with academics genuinely and happily encouraging students to get involved for their own benefit. In some departments such as Biomedicine, the staff go out of their way to find extracurricular opportunities for students to take advantage of. Academics are really open to helping students where they can.
Studying in salford is amazing, they are open to international students and we have all the resources we need
Really great here, fantastic facilities, loads of green space and top notch accommodation.
Lovely open space. Pretty friendly people. Definitely recommend coming on an Open Day. See what career options that can be supplied to you. Take advantage of every event regarding your academic.
The experiences at the university is amazing and you can turn for help at anytime.
UOS is a wonderful institution with some seriously tenured lecturers. I started at the university undertaking a foundation year which lead me down the path of organic chemistry - with the help of my peers and my lecturers, I am now about to complete my bachelors and begin a masters. For chemistry, the university is well equipped with large scale laboratory spaces sporting modern equipment and a vast array of reagents. The staff at the university have always been friendly and willing to help out if I had any questions. My lecturers in particular have gone miles beyond what you would expect and for that reason my experience here has been of the utmost quality!
Salford has been enough but not a lot more, very good for those that can do things by themselves but support is not an easy or useful think 50% of the time
Helpful and supportive staff. Defiantly recommend
Nice campus and overall a good University, the careers service is very helpful, the student union is a top place to go, and the library is good for studying.
Very limited due to Covid circumstances
University have been more than accommodating with my medical issues and have assisted me anyway they can
Great uni but some services are hard to get a hold off and you struggle to use the WiFi.
Haven't experienced too much of the campus due to the pandemic, but will come back to update this. My friends are having a blast in accommodation though (MediaCity)
My university is amazing they still are offering help with Everyone
Great university from my current experience. Good help through covid.
The university severely lacks organisation and communication. They appear to be too busy advertising themselves on social media instead of providing students with relevant information. Everything is last minute, some departments don't even provide a personal timetable so students are left to essentially make their own. Tutors are extremely bad at communicating with students and many are clearly lacking teaching qualities. If I could go back in time and advise myself to study elsewhere I certainly would
Great teaching, helpful lecturers!!
Does not feel like a university at all
Very great facilities with lots of green spaces.
Fantastic university definitely would recommend studying here
Students union good but actual teaching staff are incredibly unhelpful, if I get my degree it'll be a miracle Careers staff haven't even helped with planning post-university struggles
I have been going here since september really like it very nice buildings
I regret doing my post graduate course here. There is too much emphasis on group work (blind leading the blind exercises) and regular presentations. There is no consideration for people that may hate this way of learning. This caused myself a lot of stress. I just wanted to learn and have no aspirations to be lecturing and standing up infront of other people and being interrogated. The practical sessions where useless. I get the impression they just want to push you through the course and don't care about if it's a good experience at all. Final exam was nothing resembling the mock exams and important questions on subjects that had not even been discussed. Waste of time revising all the material from the lectures because the exam out to throw you.
Good quality of teaching, good facilities
Its a shame you can't give a rating on this review for poor academic staff. Pros of the uni. Good campuses Library has great study areas Media city campus Shuttle bus Gym Cheaper tuition fees Poor Tuition was very limited. I experienced a poor supervisor that offered very little help (and was not a subject matter expert in my master's which apparently doesn't matter) Very poor disregard for student well-being. While my experiences were mixed I know @ handful of others who had a good experience at this uni but that was due to supportive academic staff and I knew others who experienced what I experienced. I'd advise anyone to thinking about coming here to fully research the quality of the education offered as there are better alternatives.
Good university, nice place to study.
Love it!!! in Big massive Studio in new Adelphi building for Fashion Design and demonstrators or tutor are really really friendly and super helpful
The whole campus needs a good clean
University is good, i mean i guess i didnt want to review the uni but this thing is making me.
Media city is very well equipped with facilities to help enhance your learning on your course. Although I cant speak for the rest of the Uni, Media city is by far the most amazing thing going at Salford. There are so many opportunities daily if you get stuck in. The tutors are also so lovely, helpful and friendly
Lecturers are not willing to help student especially in supervision, cant recommend this school to my enemy, waste of fees
Master Degree in Cyber Security,Threat. Intelligence and Forensic,is a waist of time, Tutor not well prepare, the course doesn’t have any facility whatsoever . I won’t recommend this university to no one
Great social areas. Student union great way to start your nights out
Good student union good help around uni good clubs
As before university is nothing more than a scam these days. If you must go, Salford is okay. Facilities are decent enough but the IT department doesn't know what its doing, societies are hit and miss the computing society imploded while I was there and no longer exists. The SU is pretty useless, its not really a union just a front for the university to shut up any dissident students. Careers staff and the like are pretty good. Internet is okay but depends on the time of day, WiFi sginal is strong but nothing to shout about in terms of speed.
I think Salford university is yet to expand and become a top university in the future!
Students Union is good. Internet often doesn’t work on your own devices. Have an amazing gym with a pool on site. Societies are good, but would like a quidditch team!
Salford uni is amazing! I am so glad I found out about this place. It’s bascially in Manchester (just next door) but you get to Live and study on campus. Halls in peel park are incredibly modern, sociable and I’ve met some great people already. This uni accommodation is much cheaper than down south and Manchester in general is way more affordable. I LOVE Manchester as a place to live and think more people should move up here and come and experience Salford uni for themselves.
Good careers focus on my course. Abysmal pool facilities. Shower for the sauna was broken for months despite complaining about it on numerous occasions. Expensive food outlets and no microwave/kettle facilities for students.
Really nice friendly atmosphere. Great leacturers and a pretty campus
Dropped out after less than a term
Terrible. Lecturers do nothing to help you or make you money worth it. My course of counselling and psychotherapy you’re barley in for and when you are it’s compltly pointless because you learn nothing more by going in than you would say at home reading off slides
Lecturers have there favourites. Biased markers
The University of Salford is the worst university I attended so far. As a PhD student, the university’s only priority is to have you finish your course within 4 years independently of the quality of your work. Lacks health and safety practices result in dangerous situations in the lad and general working conditions are bad because of the state of the buildings and the lack of cleaning. Kitchen facilities within the university are minimum (PhD students are expected to provide kettles and other kitchen equipment themselves) and the food outlets on campus are expensive. Funding opportunities for research, trips and conferences are minimal and depend mainly on the budget of your supervisor. Unfortunately, supervisors can advertise fully funded PhD positions without having obtained any funding. Funding provided by the university for conferences and research is at the discretion of the university and varies from year to year (£350 per year at the moment). In general, as a PhD student at the
Currently enrolled post grad student. Following submission of work in early January, I'm still waiting to receive my grades and feedback with no explanation from the lecturers in question. One module was so poorly organised, it received universally negative feedback from every student on the course (it was more like a high school media studies class than a post graduate module). The Media City campus is a good place to be but otherwise I wouldn't recommend this university in terms of location or much else.
Great facilities not aware of clubs and societies
If you have the option to go somewhere else then do! My degree was nothing but stress due to the repeated incompetence of admin staff. Had the exact same PowerPoint lecture delivered at least three times. Told me that I'd failed my degree when in fact I'd passed every module. Never any apologies for their mistakes. Avoid.
For me Salford has given me the most personal experience where I feel that staff actually care about my well being
The univerity service is appalling their teaching format is all reading from presentations and occasionally there is a site visit. the support from some tutors is non existent however there are some tutors such as Will Swan who are amazing. The main issue is that the university is more interested in regenerating the campus than they are in teaching students. They are also eager to collect student fees which they over charge without checking as they tried to charge me £6000 when my course is only £1820 and i am a returning student so they should be aware. This poor approach and lack of support and communication means i could not recommend the service for future students wanting to learn, please dont waste your money. large organisations always provide a poor service and with Salford competing for government work and also testing products for manufacturers they clearly dont have time to teach students which is the main objective of the university.
Avoid at any cost, this university is designed to satisfy its incompetent and under qualified staff. The worst experience anyone can ask for. And as an Education Adviser for 4 years and a former student at Salford University, I can confidently say, that this is a hands down waste of money!
This university thinks they are in the same league as Cambridge University, while in reality most staff members are less qualified than the students they are teaching and it shows very clearly in Lectures, Assignments and the general attitude displayed by the staff. Avoid at all cost, better be uneducated than to graduate from this university (I dropped out of my course even though I passed all modules)
It deserves a 0 more than anything. Terrible organisation and absolutely abysmal student population UK students not welcome. Nearly all internationals. Probably duped into thinking this is Manchester/MMU.
horrendous university that offers no support what so ever for students
DISORGANISED! Would not recommend this uni to anyone.
Brilliant union and this is a modern campus with great wifi and a nice layout and everything is designed for student comfort.
Very happy with my experience here.
Not all the facilities are new and impressive, but they are working to update everything!
An amazing university all round with great facilities and they are still building new stuff and investing in their students.
Hated it here. Wasn't made aware of any clubs/societies, the software they use online for blackboard is so outdated, my brother who attends Manchester uni commented on how old fashioned it is. The place itself is old fashioned too. Teaching is average at best, when me and my friends asked around a lot of people said they had no idea what was going on and many people look bored to tears. Worst part though is receiving no help for any problems I have, had an awful group experience working with someone before Christmas, emailed the teacher explaining it all as the presentation was subpar because of this persons lack of effort and work and another member of the group emailed too and we had no response from him at all, as though knowing he didn't have to teach us next semester meant it was ok to ignore a real problem. Have another issue recently regarding another group work, sent my teacher an email explaining everything about a month ago now and had no answer
Really nice campus! Up and coming!
Frequent emails with opportunities for outside work and volunteering amongst other things which is great. We're moving into a new building which i'm really excited for in september as the courses will improve so muhc with the new facilities. JOIN ALMOST FAMOUS THEATRE SOCIETY!
Internet on campus is excellent can get it anywhere, currently a lot is under construction and more social facilities will be available for next year
