I have been going here since september really like it very nice buildings
I regret doing my post graduate course here. There is too much emphasis on group work (blind leading the blind exercises) and regular presentations. There is no consideration for people that may hate this way of learning. This caused myself a lot of stress. I just wanted to learn and have no aspirations to be lecturing and standing up infront of other people and being interrogated. The practical sessions where useless. I get the impression they just want to push you through the course and don't care about if it's a good experience at all. Final exam was nothing resembling the mock exams and important questions on subjects that had not even been discussed. Waste of time revising all the material from the lectures because the exam out to throw you.
Good quality of teaching, good facilities
Its a shame you can't give a rating on this review for poor academic staff. Pros of the uni. Good campuses Library has great study areas Media city campus Shuttle bus Gym Cheaper tuition fees Poor Tuition was very limited. I experienced a poor supervisor that offered very little help (and was not a subject matter expert in my master's which apparently doesn't matter) Very poor disregard for student well-being. While my experiences were mixed I know @ handful of others who had a good experience at this uni but that was due to supportive academic staff and I knew others who experienced what I experienced. I'd advise anyone to thinking about coming here to fully research the quality of the education offered as there are better alternatives.
Good university, nice place to study.
Love it!!! in Big massive Studio in new Adelphi building for Fashion Design and demonstrators or tutor are really really friendly and super helpful
The whole campus needs a good clean
University is good, i mean i guess i didnt want to review the uni but this thing is making me.
Media city is very well equipped with facilities to help enhance your learning on your course. Although I cant speak for the rest of the Uni, Media city is by far the most amazing thing going at Salford. There are so many opportunities daily if you get stuck in. The tutors are also so lovely, helpful and friendly
Lecturers are not willing to help student especially in supervision, cant recommend this school to my enemy, waste of fees
Master Degree in Cyber Security,Threat. Intelligence and Forensic,is a waist of time, Tutor not well prepare, the course doesn’t have any facility whatsoever . I won’t recommend this university to no one
Great social areas. Student union great way to start your nights out
Good student union good help around uni good clubs
As before university is nothing more than a scam these days. If you must go, Salford is okay. Facilities are decent enough but the IT department doesn't know what its doing, societies are hit and miss the computing society imploded while I was there and no longer exists. The SU is pretty useless, its not really a union just a front for the university to shut up any dissident students. Careers staff and the like are pretty good. Internet is okay but depends on the time of day, WiFi sginal is strong but nothing to shout about in terms of speed.
I think Salford university is yet to expand and become a top university in the future!
Students Union is good. Internet often doesn’t work on your own devices. Have an amazing gym with a pool on site. Societies are good, but would like a quidditch team!
Salford uni is amazing! I am so glad I found out about this place. It’s bascially in Manchester (just next door) but you get to Live and study on campus. Halls in peel park are incredibly modern, sociable and I’ve met some great people already. This uni accommodation is much cheaper than down south and Manchester in general is way more affordable. I LOVE Manchester as a place to live and think more people should move up here and come and experience Salford uni for themselves.
Good careers focus on my course. Abysmal pool facilities. Shower for the sauna was broken for months despite complaining about it on numerous occasions. Expensive food outlets and no microwave/kettle facilities for students.
Really nice friendly atmosphere. Great leacturers and a pretty campus
Dropped out after less than a term
Terrible. Lecturers do nothing to help you or make you money worth it. My course of counselling and psychotherapy you’re barley in for and when you are it’s compltly pointless because you learn nothing more by going in than you would say at home reading off slides
Lecturers have there favourites. Biased markers
The University of Salford is the worst university I attended so far. As a PhD student, the university’s only priority is to have you finish your course within 4 years independently of the quality of your work. Lacks health and safety practices result in dangerous situations in the lad and general working conditions are bad because of the state of the buildings and the lack of cleaning. Kitchen facilities within the university are minimum (PhD students are expected to provide kettles and other kitchen equipment themselves) and the food outlets on campus are expensive. Funding opportunities for research, trips and conferences are minimal and depend mainly on the budget of your supervisor. Unfortunately, supervisors can advertise fully funded PhD positions without having obtained any funding. Funding provided by the university for conferences and research is at the discretion of the university and varies from year to year (£350 per year at the moment). In general, as a PhD student at the
Currently enrolled post grad student. Following submission of work in early January, I'm still waiting to receive my grades and feedback with no explanation from the lecturers in question. One module was so poorly organised, it received universally negative feedback from every student on the course (it was more like a high school media studies class than a post graduate module). The Media City campus is a good place to be but otherwise I wouldn't recommend this university in terms of location or much else.
Great facilities not aware of clubs and societies
If you have the option to go somewhere else then do! My degree was nothing but stress due to the repeated incompetence of admin staff. Had the exact same PowerPoint lecture delivered at least three times. Told me that I'd failed my degree when in fact I'd passed every module. Never any apologies for their mistakes. Avoid.
For me Salford has given me the most personal experience where I feel that staff actually care about my well being
The univerity service is appalling their teaching format is all reading from presentations and occasionally there is a site visit. the support from some tutors is non existent however there are some tutors such as Will Swan who are amazing. The main issue is that the university is more interested in regenerating the campus than they are in teaching students. They are also eager to collect student fees which they over charge without checking as they tried to charge me £6000 when my course is only £1820 and i am a returning student so they should be aware. This poor approach and lack of support and communication means i could not recommend the service for future students wanting to learn, please dont waste your money. large organisations always provide a poor service and with Salford competing for government work and also testing products for manufacturers they clearly dont have time to teach students which is the main objective of the university.
Avoid at any cost, this university is designed to satisfy its incompetent and under qualified staff. The worst experience anyone can ask for. And as an Education Adviser for 4 years and a former student at Salford University, I can confidently say, that this is a hands down waste of money!
This university thinks they are in the same league as Cambridge University, while in reality most staff members are less qualified than the students they are teaching and it shows very clearly in Lectures, Assignments and the general attitude displayed by the staff. Avoid at all cost, better be uneducated than to graduate from this university (I dropped out of my course even though I passed all modules)
It deserves a 0 more than anything. Terrible organisation and absolutely abysmal student population UK students not welcome. Nearly all internationals. Probably duped into thinking this is Manchester/MMU.
horrendous university that offers no support what so ever for students
DISORGANISED! Would not recommend this uni to anyone.
Brilliant union and this is a modern campus with great wifi and a nice layout and everything is designed for student comfort.
Very happy with my experience here.
Not all the facilities are new and impressive, but they are working to update everything!
An amazing university all round with great facilities and they are still building new stuff and investing in their students.
Hated it here. Wasn't made aware of any clubs/societies, the software they use online for blackboard is so outdated, my brother who attends Manchester uni commented on how old fashioned it is. The place itself is old fashioned too. Teaching is average at best, when me and my friends asked around a lot of people said they had no idea what was going on and many people look bored to tears. Worst part though is receiving no help for any problems I have, had an awful group experience working with someone before Christmas, emailed the teacher explaining it all as the presentation was subpar because of this persons lack of effort and work and another member of the group emailed too and we had no response from him at all, as though knowing he didn't have to teach us next semester meant it was ok to ignore a real problem. Have another issue recently regarding another group work, sent my teacher an email explaining everything about a month ago now and had no answer
Really nice campus! Up and coming!
Frequent emails with opportunities for outside work and volunteering amongst other things which is great. We're moving into a new building which i'm really excited for in september as the courses will improve so muhc with the new facilities. JOIN ALMOST FAMOUS THEATRE SOCIETY!
Internet on campus is excellent can get it anywhere, currently a lot is under construction and more social facilities will be available for next year
Underestimated university that provides students 100% attention to enable them to become graduates with respectable degrees with relevant industry experience.
Great support network and friendly staff. amazing facilities, especially for media or fashion students. Halls are fab and super social- love it here!
the university is super, good classes. study halls john lester and eddie colman is s*** dont live there toilets always broken and apartments is dirty when you move in and they blame it on you
Pretty decent. Not a great reputation but the engineering is good.
Salford in it's entirety is not the nicest of places to live, but everywhere has its downfalls. The University itself is growing bigger and bigger each year with new buildings and courses to help the next generation strive upon their strengths. The Students Union had a make over 2 years ago and now does excellent food and puts on some really great social nights for everyone to come down and get meeting new people no matter what your ethnicity or religion is. It is a really nice and friendly place to relax. Both campus' (main and media city) are new and modern and with the new addition of the highrise student accommodation opened for 2015, everything is literally on your doorstep.
The university is a friendly and sociable place
Does what it says on the tin, and you'll have a great time
Nice, modern university. Needs more societies and to get more students involved in current societies.
The University is the best if you wish to have it easy through studies. The student union has activities every week non stop so no doll moments.
Safe and secure with easy links to manchester and the nightlife
Decent enough, wish the union was more welcoming
A compact set of campuses, which are easily accessible. Supportive staff, and extra help available when needed.
Ok needs updating to modern standards
Halls are brand new, some faults in them but overall are great
Great uni, some little issues but overall good.
The university's facilaties are really good. There are plenty of clubs and societies to join. The student union used to be really good but dated, they recently re-decorated and changed the food menu and drinks. Since then, the food has been horrid, both the food and drinks are way overpriced for what they are, and the pool tables rarely work. And if a large group, such as a club or society go in, there are never enough seats for everyone and little room to stand. It does look pretty though! And for the careers service, I've never once heard of this or recieved any information about one, but my course isn't the best and they rarely hand information out about the course, never mind other things like career service or wordscope (help to write assignments). I would say the university is really good, but be careful what course you choose! and there are plenty of other places to eat/drink other than student union. Most people avoid that place too!
Don't stay in Peel Park it is terrible
Countless opportunities and enhancements added and the entire landscape of the University has improved by a great amount
Great university with superior level of teaching. The attention and the support given by the lecturers is amazing.
Great location as it is walking distance from Manchester City centre
Mediacityuk campus is amazing and has everything you need to complete your course and your skills to it maximum creativity
Best university their is. The university library is fully equipped with everything a student needs. All tutors are easy and really available to help out students out of lecture hours. From time to time the university board meets with students needs. And the university student union is the best with social events almost every week repeatedly and also with helping students with their quarries.
Salford uni is a really fun place to go to uni. There definitely could be improvements but all in all it's fun, easy going and everyone's courses seem alright :'D
Awful experience in many aspects of the university
Expectation and advertisement are quite far from reality. Also, the wifi is a pain to deal with (cellular internet is advised to have).
I enjoyed my time at Salford Uni and saw the university improve by a lot from my first to my 3rd year....i would have stayed for MSc but they weren't offering what i wanted to study
Really nice campus, always improving campus and facilities. Love the course and tutors. The student union works great and well. I think that the accomodation is good and improving.
I LOVE the university of Salford! In my opinion the best university out there! I study drama and creative writing, the lecturers are top class and there are always great opportunities available to you!
Amazing uni, the physics lecturers are the best
It's a good university. I can only really speak for the MediaCityUK campus, because that's where I spend most of my time. But the internet is good, there are lots of clubs and socs. The facilities are mostly up to scratch and there is lots of support available (very easily) if you're struggling who will help you through. The only thing is the campus bus, which is very unreliable.
