The lecturers are super helpful with any inquiries you may have, even if you believe it’s a stupid question it doesn’t hurt to ask. The clubs and societies are a great way to make friends with similar interest or hobbies.
Timetabling and organisation are far from good most of the time, and scheduled lectures on Teams don’t always mean that a lecturer will attend to present. Organisation of placement and time spent doing relevant, placement-related tasks was not productive for a large proportion of the time (year 1). Lectures can be very lengthy (3 1/2 hours - both in-person and on Teams) and the content “taught” does not always match the way in which would provide the best, meaningful learning opportunities, especially as this is a practical course and practical job. There are some brilliant lecturers, mostly those who have teaching qualifications and understand the teaching and learning cycles, and how opportunities to embed learning are important. However, this is not the case for all modules and all lecturers.
Really nice university, wanted to specially give a shout out to my lecturer Mick Pender from the business school nothing is too much trouble the best mentor I could of ever wished for really was there for me during all the stresses and concerns.
the admin is a mess and the timetable is changing every week
SU had lots of events but not many were popular
student union is fine, they keep cancelling our room bookings and have been generally unsupportive, nights out generally suck imo but the kpa is lovely, and the campus is great
Some amazing scenery with a big history behind it. Have joined lots of sports and societies and been able to make friends and endless memories.
The su is enjoyable because I go with my friends but they need to change the music from time to time and so specific nights to entice more people to go out.
The campus is good and pretty but could benefit from more buses. On campus food is expensive. The prices are not student friendly.
Overall a reasonable experience
Vibrant academic atmosphere, surrounded by natural beauty, and offers emough extracurricular opportunities for students."
Some student experiences going downhill, less SU events, especially for those not into club nights, Nice campus overall
My first year on campus was good, wifi did go down once but it wasn’t too bad. The societies were very sports focused.
amazing campus based uni experience !
After being insanely indecisive about uni I love it at Keele, the grounds are gorgeous for walking around when stressed out and the academic mentors and careers team are very helpful, and I love the people I've met here. However the SU has gone down hill a bit this year with worse events and turnout.
For a campus uni i didnt expect the events to be particularly good however they were amazing, the SU nights out were always great, there is good access to lots of facilities across campus and they are definitely up to standard. My only concern is that the careers team are hard to access, i struggled to find how to contact them. But once i did they were helpful, Its a fab uni
Keele University offers an exceptional student experience. The state-of-the-art lecture theatres and labs are accessible to all, enhancing the learning environment. With over 150 societies, there are abundant opportunities to make new friends and explore various interests. The Careers Service is outstanding, helping with career progression, organizing career fairs, and collaborating with local businesses to offer students opportunities. They provide excellent support for job applications, placements, part-time, and graduate roles, as well as career and interview advice. The Students' Union is always there to support any student needs, from housing advice to engaging activities and general wellbeing. The lush Keele woods are perfect for leisure, play, and reflection. Various thought-provoking lectures on interdisciplinary topics are regularly organized by the university. The sense of community created by staff, lecturers, and students makes Keele a wonderful place to study and grow.
a university that feels like home away from home, great facilities coupled with the most supportive staff.
My accommodation was good, some things were broken bur they were quickly fixed by maintenance. The accommodation is extortionate and my maintenance loan didn't cover all of the fees. If there was a slightly larger shop on campus such as an aldi that would be helpful as campus is quite far from newcastle under Lyme. The SU holds lots of good events, some have now stopped though. Overall the campus is very nice, lots of walks and the shops available are good.
Not had any experience with careers yet, however overall the campus is nice.
Keele is a small campus and. To some may seem boring but there’s always something to do and it’s such a safe and fun community
Love the campus ! And ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE KEELE HALL !!!!
Overall quite good however things could be improved, like more study spaces
School of Nursing and Midwifery is second to none. Amazing teaching staff, great facilities which will be even better when Darwin is finished. Forever proud to be a Keele student midwife.
Good student union nights. Lots of different artists
WiFi constantly cuts out and is inconsistent across campus
Not many societies. The Wi-Fi went down one time but otherwise it was great
The overall campus experience has been good
Every so often there’s a great night as the SU but would be nice if there were more events
I’ve not had any experience with the careers team so would not be able to give an accurate review. Campus is lovely and has everything you need.
The library opens 24/7 for most days and most facilities work well.
Lovely uni with a really nice campus
Not so many events lately making it a bit dead
great WiFi but the SU events aren't always great. needs a better DJ
The WiFi can sometimes dip if you are moving to places across campus or from building to building but you reconnect very quickly
Focus on sports too much and exclude the people who cannot do sports. Society’s are very cliquey and it’s hard to make friends
The campus is good for scenic walks and is a nice community. I haven’t had much involvement with clubs and societies, but have seen plenty I’m interested in for next year. I haven’t had much involvement in the SU, but the Co-Op being closed quite early, especially on weekends, means you feel isolated on campus sometimes especially if you’ve forgot one item in your food shop. The WiFi can be unreliable at times, with sometimes needing to restart your device for it to work.
Generally good facilities round campus and have enjoyed being part of a sports club and a society.
Music in the su isn't super diverse so isn't my favourite but there are a wide range of societies and good facilities
Keele is a great university that has a lot of good studying facilities and great teaching from staff. Alongside the facilities such as teaching, the wifi is strong all around campus and therefore it makes studying very easy.
While the SU as a body was nothing unique, it worked well and supported my friends and I when needed. There are many clubs and societies for almost everyone and everything and it's also easy to start one of your own!! Careers and students services are really helpful and kind, and student services take their students wellbeing very seriously. While the university does listen to its students and adjusts classes and modules, I do hope they will stop following the trends in academia and continue supporting and evolving what made the university unique, such as its dual honor courses
Indeed it help me in all aspect during my learning journey here.
I havent used the SU much because Im just not interested which is just my preference, other students who use it love it! The internet is typically very speedy and accessible basically anywhere in the uni and I have never had issues with connectivity or speed
A great university with facilities suitable for all students. The campus in beautiful with many areas for students to enjoy downtime
The SU has been getting progressively less active and holding fewer and less successful events in recent years, though some of this may be to do with the cost of living. The careers team are wonderful, they would just benefit from being better signposted both physically and on university social medias so more people know it's there
Pretty decent but the wifi doesn’t span all the campus
Internet can be connected to for everywhere on campus making it very convenient when on the go.
The nature on campus really makes the uni stand out among other unis, with one campus it has that warm community vibe. Many spaces to study: chapters cafe and chancellors are the best in the evening for quiet public settings (open 24/7 weekdays). The lake and view over Newcastle at Keele Hall is so unique
Keele involves some amazing societies and social spaces
The location of the accommodation is perfect! I have student friendly shops 3-5 by walk like Aldi and Lidl, as well as pricy as Morrison , tesco and saysburys which are a bit further but still accessible by walk. I also I have the bus stop close to me which is very convenient so I can take the bus to go to uni and stoke city centre. This accommodation it’s perfect for those who do a health care course as the hospitaL it is just 20 min away by walk. The only downfall is the internet which is not the greatest!
The university is very good in terms of socialising
Keele university with a good environment and most of the staff members are really helpful and supportive.
I expected slightly more from keele but all around it's a good uni
University campus is lovely, very welcoming and feels like its own little community
Decent campus, gym is not good
Good university with great staff
Keele offers excellent facilities and courses. I have been extremely content with the structure and organisation of my course, and feel I have been able to develop the essential skills required for my desired career ambitions. The campus itself is surrounded by nature with picturesque scenery, which makes me feel a sense of connectivity to student life. The Student's Union ensure that my overall uni experience is safe, and fun. My success as an individual as well as a student is at the forefront of their ethos. The careers team offer several events and opportunities to expand your career knowledge and skills and is always open for appointments to work through any career guidance and advice I may require. The range of societies and clubs is exceptional, you name it, Keele's got it! Overall, my experience has been everything I imagined and more.
I love it here, it makes me feel at home!
Love the uni, staff listen to your concerns
This review is for students with mental illness. Keele, in my experience, is an amazing choice for you. Registering at the start that you require mental support gives you a lot of options for reasonable adjustments. They also have a counselling team, a mental health nurse at the on-campus GP, a student experience team, and lecturers who are all committed to your success. While the teaching material in my case could have been better structured, feedback to my school resulted in positive changes. Also the postgraduate association is a lifesaver as well. And the campus is genuinely gorgeous and serene. Exceedingly grateful to have gone here.
Had nice experience in keele university and also with the people and accom
Best campus facilities with excellent educational system
Good campus, good facilities, good student Union
Keele University offers a remarkable academic experience with a diverse range of programs. The campus provides a vibrant and inclusive environment, fostering both personal and intellectual growth. From well-designed facilities to engaging faculty, Keele creates an excellent learning atmosphere. The university's commitment to student welfare and involvement in various activities adds to its appeal. Overall, Keele University stands out as a dynamic and enriching place for higher education.
Probably the best thing about this university is its campus, it's quite nice seeing all the squirrels and the old buildings intertwined with nature. It's also usually the only place you can go if you want to do a dual honours course, like Computer Science and Music Production. The CS part isn't too great, but Music seems very good so far. Not too much to complain about apart from on-site accommodation.
Great university to be at and theres always lots to do
Staff and all teams across the university are incredible. It’s noticeable that students are the priority. Student experience keeps being developed and improved upon. All facilities on campus as excellent and the general student community and the events hosted are incredible.
The university is beautiful and the staff are helpful. Everything you could need is available on campus!
Keele has a beautiful campus that is very large. The facilities, especially the labs, are in great condition and provide a good workspace and technology to learn. I am not in any clubs or societies but I know there are lots to choose from, I see them advertised as well as their socials. I was interested in joining one but I think the fees are too expensive. The student union is quite small and sometimes the events are repetitive as its the same thing weekly but it is still a good night out. It is kept nice and clean and is still a good area to socialise even outside of events when less crowded, with snooker tables and lots of chairs and food on sale. There are very regular emails about career opportunities and some talks take place on careers/companies come in to do talks. I have attended one which was helpful. The internet connection is mostly perfect but it often requires re-logging in which can be annoying as it holds you up slightly when starting lectures etc
Campus is fairly quiet and relaxed, small community of students. Campus library is fairly spacious and cosy. Keele's safety bus is an amazing asset to night life on campus. If you don't like quiet green spaces, Keele might be a bit too isolating, but personally I've really enjoyed my time here.
Beautiful campus and excellent facilities
I have thoroughly enjoyed studying at Keele University. With a beautiful campus and knowledgable lecturers, I have felt very comfortable here.
Good! I enjoy the social side, the. Course, the work and the people I have got to meet
Amazing range of societies to meet new people and learn new skills, huge beautiful campus for perfect afternoon walks, and on campus gym for exercise. Lots of places to get food, at the cafe or pub or su, and more.
Keele does not care about its students at all. #1 for student satisfaction? Please, that's because all the unsatisfied students have either killed themselves or dropped out. If you raise a problem, the SU will acknowledge it and then proceed to do absolutely nothing about it. Unless you're genuinely about to commit suicide they will do nothing, and even then the best they can do is email some people to contact if you want help. A green campus? No. Having worked in the SU, everything goes in the general waste. No recycling *at all* even if it would be easy. They do not care. Security do not discriminate. Did you have the right intentions and did you do all you could to do the right thing? Doesn't matter, you broke a minor rule in the process and must be punished, regardless of any context. To be fair, lecturers (usually) care and will try to help you, but it doesn't matter because the university systems they refer you to are worthless. Do not come to this university.
A lovely community feel and good quality teaching. Very convenient if you are living on campus.
Good uni and enjoyable environment
Green and spacious campus . All the building are close by
It’s alright. A.
Nice campus and very green. Food prices needs to improve, also the quality of food (need to have more flavour and bigger portion size).
It's honestly the best choice I could've made. The people I have met here and the teaching facilities are extraordinary and it allows you to experience life as a student with no expenses spared
My course is mostly taught online so I have only seen the facilities a few times
Keele university is an outstanding place for learning and career development.
Good uni that provides a great environment and facilities for students to learn. The lecturers try their best to ensure they are able to accommodate the students and take into consideration the feedback they get to ensure students are happy with the delivery of the lectures.
Great uni lovely campus so much to do
All the people are nice here, they are being friendly to international students too~ We can get many services on campus included the club events, grocery store, post office, cafeteria and more… Although the weather is not stable here but I really in love with the greenery view here and the Keele Hall is really amazing!!!
Why there are not rating questions about course snd teaching delivery? I am in my 3rd year at keele and even though the facilities and campus are amazing, i cant say the same for the organisation of the course and teaching methods. Timetable change every week, nothing is ever delivered on time and most of my grades are based on group work (and so you have to relay on other students for your grades), i dont study a science degree to be thought how to do well in a social club. Most of the time i feel that individuals are not taken in any considerations, lecturers see hundreds of students every year (classes are crowded) and act as such, your grades, your performance and your opinion are only good to them for future reference but nothing is done for the present situation of present students, is very disappointing and add stress on an already demanding year.
My lecturers are keen to get to know you as a person and help you achieve the best results you can which always helps as you near 3rd year. The campus is lovely, fully of greenery and flowers, and the central bit with the shops is great for between lectures if you live off campus. As for progression after uni, in second and third year you have the choice to do work placement modules which, while you still have to apply in them, is a great opportunity to jumpstart experience before you’ve even graduated.
Just finished my first year and here's what I have to say. Keele's a pretty decent university overall, I have no major complaints. Nights out are a bit of a struggle compared to different unis as you're not directly living in the city if you're on campus and the SU is pretty standard, nothing out of this world, but if you're looking for a decent night out, it's alright. Campus is huge and very scenic, perfect for having a nice walk. Library is 24/7 in term time. There's a coop on campus but I'd advise buying a totum card for 10% off as it's not the cheapest in there. I personally reside in Holly Cross / Oaks en-suite accommodation and it's decent, but I'd say way too expensive for what you get, so take it as a tax for living on campus but if you have DSA, you're eligible for a discount if they see you have a reason. The room and bathroom is a decent size and you get a pretty big desk, along with having a 3/4 size bed. Internet is good but there's no ethernet in the rooms
I love the campus as it is so green and walking around it is amazing it like a little village
Good experience, overall happy with everything
Keele is fine for what it is, support isn't great
Keele campus is definitely a great uni, with lots of stuff going on at the su and quite a lot of facilities. Accommodation is way too expensive though.
Nothing more to say. Campus is nice and clean but SU could be better.
A great campus, friendly students and societies.
The campus has some pretty views. The buildings appear to be well-looked-after and most of the staff I've interacted with seem to genuinely have the students' best interests at heart. There are issues with parking though that students have been fighting against for a few years now and there is yet to be improvement.
Keele has a great business school and had great contacts to help secure placements
The campus is great for walks to be able to take breaks away from studying and great facilities making it an easier process to study.
The facilities are excellent, I feel constantly supported and living on campus is like a home from home.
As an international student, a lot of time went into researching for the “perfect accommodation.” After searching for other student accommodations, I felt Keele House best met my living needs. The most distinguishable quality KH studios has amongst others is walking space around the studio. The studios are very spacious allowing for movement to & from other stations & not a very crowded, tight space like other on & off-campus accommodations are. I have windows that I can open to get fresh air & sunlight, a fully functional heater, a huge wardrobe, a comfortable workstation with ample number of sockets/outlets & bright LED light. The kitchen cabinets & fridge are extremely spacious. KH has a very clean gymnasium with good quality equipment to get a good workout in that is open 24/7. KH is in the center & in walking distance of everything you need! Not to mention the extremely friendly & helpful property managers who host fun game nights with food & drinks! I'm so glad I chose KH!
