I believe Bath Spa University provides an excellent experience for University life, from the historic, student-friendly city of Bath, to the calming campus located off from the busy Bristol-bound roads. There is a succinct travel route to the main campus via the U5 bus, accompanied by the FirstBus app, allowing all students to easily plan their journey back and forth. Off campus accommodation is a strong point of this University, with most students being located around major shopping hubs and other amenities. Throughout my experience here, I have come to thoroughly enjoy the scenery around campus, backed by a huge patch of countryside containing cows and sheep, as well as a patch of forest and a lake. I also find that the Student Union is very interactive, scarcely going a day without interaction with the general student population, as well as reminders via email and events in the main campus building. Supporting a tranquil lifestyle, I highly recommend this University.

I love the activities planned and they make you feel welcome and part of a family. Always organising big nights out and having loads of fun
The campus is well laid out and accessible. There are also plenty of local walks which are beautiful and a real asset to the uni
The uni is great and offers lots of support
Love it :) i think the internet can be made better
A great university. The place is beautiful and I honestly have no complaints other than the bad wifi
Internet can be a bit dodgy on campus but it’s never too big of an issue and can usually be fixed.
So glad i chose this university, beautiful campus and lovely staff, excited to be staying on for year 2.
Bath Spa overall is a good uni to be at!
Overall the flats and staff are amazing
Great facilities and society helped with making friends
I was in locksbrook campus which is nice and so easy to get to if living in Charlton or waterside. And been to Newton and it’s so nice in and out of the campus
Bath Spa University has allowed me meet many of my new friends who I’m sure I will remain in contact with over the next few years, as well as becoming more in tune with my desired subject.
Beautiful campus, good lectures and social clubs
Some clubs and societies are touch and go. More often than not, they seemed to be in the early stages of its formation making things seem a bit unorganized but the volleyball club really had me in the clutches.
I love the Uni. Everyone is always ready to help. The facilities are amazing! I’m sure there are some flaws but no where is perfect. Overall a fantastic university with outstanding opportunistic for the students! Lots of care
Wifi can be off at times, but okay
24/7 friendly staff and events that are inclusive and inventive.
Brilliant campus and facilities, and all the staff are lovely with the correct processes in place to help students with all their needs.
Amazing facilities and great staff
The uni is great, especially all the tutors in my course they're all really helpful and sweet. The art shop is really helpful as well.
Really really easy to move in very very helpful and lovely staff would recommend so much also a lovley room
Great for facilities, welcoming stuff and a safe and creative space to work in.
eszter was great help through my time at waterside
Great uni, love going there. Facilities are great
Great so far, clean facilities and kind staff course is super fun!
Societies are great and the Locksbrook campus is very nice.
A good location with tricky entrances. However, the sector I worked had great facilities and had a lot to offer to accommodate me when I’m study or in seminars. I gave some clubs and societies ago but found balancing time with them and study difficult, though I thought they are well-run.
Decent uni, gorg campus, big fan
Nothing is perfect, pretty much like I rated above...
Very good place, has amazing professors who are all willing to help when you have issues. It is a picturesque university, a good space to be. Amazing facilities too
Poor effort in terms of reaching out to struggling students, makes it really seem like it’s all about money and therefore student wellbeing is ignored. When I first joined, there was a welcome speech in which students were notified that this is quite a small University in comparison to others, yet students like me were still made to feel unnoticed:) There are a few exceptions and lecturers which showed interest and care in regards to my situation, that’s why I’m excited to be surrounded by those people next year, however I definitely feel a lot of resentment towards my University.
great facilities, especially for what i do
My experience has been good and hope this continues in the next years
My course is accredited by Bath Spa but is based in Bristol. So I’ve never been to Bath Spa campus. And I generally don’t have anything to do with them.
Beautiful campus, staff always lovely
good university and good university experience with room for improvement
Each campus is very nice and presentable, good support from staff, and a good social area.
A very unfriendly place to study, haven’t made any good memories whilst at campus. Little engagement with the classes/classmates. Lectures are okay but whole experience still effected from Covid and strikes. Would study elsewhere
Reasonably small for a uni, so socially not the best, but maintained pretty well, experience varies course to course
Bath Spa is an excellent university and I will feel incredibly sad when I have to graduate and leave this summer. It has a beautiful campus which is fantastic for well-being, as well as a wonderful community feel with the staff and students. The SU do a fantastic job at ensuring the student experience is as good as possible, and they make sure all student voices are heard. An overall wonderful university
I love the campus, it’s so beautiful and the facilities are incredible.
Lovely campus, lots of opportunities
amazing university glade i ended up here
Good support from staff, there's a decent range of societies but no where near as many as the main Bath university. Campus is beautiful. lecturers are really good and the facilities are new and clean. Overall it's a great uni.
The facilities are really good, staff are lovely. Could be a bit better with communication and online devices
on the music courses we have amazing lecturers, not always easy to get a hold of but always around to encourage us.
Excellent resources and teaching, best option for students!
Newton park campus is super scenic and makes the 9am starts worth it
Great uni, although I can’t comment on accommodation facilities as I don’t live there :)
I study textiles for fashion and interiors - I love my course and the teachers are really helpful and inspiring
just now If I could give it 0 I probably would. This university has caused so much suffering to so many people. They mess up courses. Promises you things you can't actually take and then say it is too late to change. The marking (in performance based lectures) are biased. Combined lectures can be messed up. They threaten you not to complain if you have an issue (even not telling you there is a complaint system separate from the university). One student was locked in a room by the lecturer and told not to appeal his grade. Another student threatened not to complain until after graduation, by then the deadlines for complaints was closed. For me, they never even told me there was a complaint system that was separate from my course. I thought I would get bad grades if I complained. I didn't know until after about the students union complaint department. They do not advertise it. Mental Health service is terrible. You get no support. All the different departments for graduation,
2020 making the best out of a terrible situation
The Uni captured most of the things it said about itself on paper, truly on arrival I met the most amazing support which made my study quiet interesting. If you are the party type and less study kinda fella, Bath might not be your place. Communication is excellent when you open up.
Lack of communication. Overly Bureaucratic. Campus, although beautiful is miles away from Bath and walking into town could take upwards of 45 minutes to an hour. The accommodation in town (Green Park, Charlton Court, Waterside) is massively overpriced for what you are getting. Many societies but only few are active. The campus is beautiful but honestly, just go for a walk there rather than study.
Wifi is terrible. Usually can't access stuff in lectures because of it and it goes down a lot and is slow.
Love Bath Spa, Newton is the nicest campus literally like living in a fairy tale
It is very good indeed has fun only thrown up twice so far
Students Union by far is the best part of this institution
Great Campus, seemingly lack of rooms for my course
Basically a great University, but it’s not the place if your wanting uni for its nightlife!
I’m a work alone kind of guy and not on campus so I don’t really know anything about careers services
Bath Spa is a great University as it is not so big. The lectures and seminars are more personal with lecturers having the capacity to focus on the individual students and their enquiries.
Some great pastoral care, but courses can be tedious. No real sense of communication either
Beautiful university and campus, Gardens accommodation is amazing and there's a great mix of different societies. I'm really happy I chose this uni and bath is such a lovely City as well!
amazing university,beautiful environment!!
Not much info given to us about the club's and societies
The campus is set in stunning countryside and has a very friendly and laid back atmosphere. Academic staff have an open door policy and are very approachable. The careers team are really good and offer lots of opportunities such as placements and volunteering within industry both in the UK (and during summer breaks abroad) as well as posting lots of part time job opportunities. I absolutely love studying here.
Not a great place to study. Library is always busy and the people there are often very chatty so it is hard to concentrate when you're trying to read and/or get some work done. My mental health took a real nosedive whilst studying here, but GP and Student Support services were very unhelpful. Regarding clubs, although I paid a membership fee, I never got any updates about meetings or anything, so they pretty much stole my money. Classes weren't great, although the content was interesting for some modules, I think they could have been taught a little bit better. A lot of seminars either consisted of reading slides or having the tutor ask a question and receive an awkward silence as a response. Socially, I felt like this uni was very cliquey, sort of felt like I was back at school. Once I sat at a table with a bunch of girls during class (as there was no other available seating left), only to be met by strange looks, the Mean Girls quote, "You can't sit with us!" comes to mind.
Bad uni don't go 103rd in the league tables for a reason.
My experience here has been disheartening. There is a lack of organisation with clubs and societies and there aren't many options to choose from so it is hard to make friends. Classes are large and impersonal which also makes it hard to befriend people there is no 'group' feeling that you should usually get with classmates it is just very isolating. Had I not previously done an A Level subject before my degree, I would not have the slightest clue on the stuff that is being taught as the lecturers tend to overcomplicate things when this is the stuff that I had learned during A level and i found it fairly straight forward back then so i can't imagine what it's like for people who are new to this content. The student union shop is very overpriced yet claims to be 'affordable' for students.
Overall a good uni (although small)
They did not help me in regards with transferring to other course. Very disappointed. But the facilities are great and technicians are very helpful.
A potentially great Uni let down by poor logistics and communication. You can never get a clear answer from staff on university related issues or policy, and its constant expansion is putting strain on the universities infrastructure, which was not great to begin with. Societies and clubs are also somewhat flat, as their creators are not given a lot of support from the university nor are they encourage or given the facilities needed to flourish, leading to drinking becoming the only source of entertainment for many, Some subjects are also worthless and bring down the calibre of the university, key examples of this being: Dance, Theatre production and performance. All of which are not really subjects that can be tackled properly in a university setting, nor do they belong in such a setting. Finally however, the university does have some amazing academics and a strong performance in academic studies in the areas of History and philosophy and English literature.
Terrible university, expensive to live in, no support given to students who are struggling
No major problems with anything
Beautiful campus and nature. Huge problem is with people who are just terrible. Professors as well as students. Unhelpful, weird and arrogant. Terrible people. Professors don't help at all but adore to give you fail. You gain nothing from knowledge.
A bit specific. The PGCE for science subjects is awful. Half a term in, and no teaching. "We struggle to find schools" - how about taking less students? Or is the 9k. too much of a temptation?
Really good experience at Bath Spa, teaching was fantastic aswell as it being a really beautiful campus with a very positive atmosphere
Beautiful university, just shambolic in its organisation of course content and is generally unhelpful with regards to the financial struggle of being a student in a city with London prices, except you don't get the benefit of extra money like London students do. They should offer far more than an automated e-mail saying "get a job" like ?? As if I hadn't thought of such a genius idea. -.-
stunning campus with an amazing community feel, great atmosphere to constantly see happy people around so guess that shows how nice it is here.
The campus and its facilities are great, there are lots of spaces to work and learn and it is a safe and enjoyable environment to learn in. The clubs and societies are rubbish though, it really needs to be improved.
Campus is absolutely stunning and most of the facilities are great and well maintained, but I do wish there were more readily available music spaces, as they can get booked up very quickly. There are a good selection of various clubs and socieities here. The SU building bar and shop are great, but some of the shop products are a little pricey. Wifi can be hard to get in the SU and up by Gardens.
beautiful campus, lovely teaching buildings
The university is a beautiful spot with great people and facilities, but due to being small it does lack in certain things like a bigger student union and facilities to help with activities such as societies.
Lovely campus! So chilled and friendly!
Societies aren't as accessible to the masses. Not as appealing, SU needs improvement, really would like a clubs on campus as we are so far away from town. SU doesn't take cards either, that should be improved.
The wifi and phone signal here are appalling... Eduroam will disappear in the middle of you loading a page and you are lucky if you get service on your phone long enough to send a text to your mum! Apart from that the campus is stunning! One of the most beautiful places I've been!
East Wing Coffee on campus does the best coffee, and if that's not a reason to come to Bath Spa I don't know what is.
Is a campus of students on massive land
Very over priced the food and drinks on campus which I think is disgusting considering we're students why are we being overcharged? Also students Union needs to be extended or made bigger somehow can't facilitate many at the moment.
Newton is SO beautiful but the SU isn't great and is so far away for us living off campus. I joined Netball team but never got to play as too many members which is disappointing. Careers service has excellent presence, giving talks in lectures etc. but the Wifi took me weeks to figure out!!
Student union do the greatest pizza's and the uni's facilities are brilliant.
Really nice campus that's very pitoresque! Wonderful place to study!
Absolutely amazing and beautiful campus, teaching staff are good and helpfull, love life at bath spa !
Not too shabby. Very liberally minded, really open and lovely people. Degrees are more do-it-yourself types that force you to work independently. Really good. Would recommend to a friend. Solid 9.5/10. Cheeky.
Internet on campus has been extended so it can reach all the way across and the students union has recently been refurbished so is brilliant for a good night out if you're not into clubbing!
University overall is pretty good, some aspects are pricey but that's the truth for any university. Found the SU too expensive and too concentrated on their own friends.
Bath Spa is extremely good with its care of students, tutors and making you feel welcome during your studies! Opportunities to learn further is amazing here!
Beautiful campus, great SU and we have new buildings with loads of new facilities!
Amazing university. Everyone is friendly and the teaching staff are brilliant! It's become a home away from home for me and I couldn't have asked for a better university experience - can't wait to restart my education with a PGCE beginning in September
Its a fantastic uni. Loads of opportunity with a combination of the right work load and excitement
Bath spa is set on a beautiful campus that makes even going to lectures a joy.
Bath Spa University has changed my life completely, staff and students are very warming and being an international student coming from far away this was something that scared me, but in Bath Spa i felt welcomed and part of a big community from day 1
Bath Spa was an amazing and unforgettable experience. The size of the uni and the town is a real plus, as you are kept as an single individual. Campus is beautiful, safe, and welcoming. Halls allow you to socialise with everyone easily.
I have loved this uni over the past 2 years, both Newton and Sion Hill. It's so beautiful and the teaching is amazing!
Very beautiful campus with plenty of opportunities :)
Not much in the way of student life, such as societies. The union is pretty poor compared to many other universities. Although, the biology department facilities are brilliant
The campus is beautiful but since they hadn't finished building the new accommodation in September, builders being around making noise in the morning was annoying however they're all finished now so should now
Great university and the careers center is so support and helpful and even put you in contact with the right people!
Best first year of my life so far, looking forward to next year!
Great university with supportive tutors but it could do with some tweaks to make things run more smoothly and provide more for our money.
It is a great University. The campus is lovely, you meet some really nice people, the courses really challenge you and the lecturers are the best.
Fantastic caring university that invest in yiu as a real person rather then a number. I didn't want to leave.
Bath Spa Uni has been an amazing place to study so far, the lecturers are helpful and friendly, the campus is beautiful and there is such a welcoming atmosphere that comes with it being a smaller population.
A fun and friendly place to be, great location and the lecturers are always around to help! Would recommend this university for anyone who's creative and wants to have their creative minds expanded even further.
If you say you go to Bath Spa Univeristy it will be assumed that you study some form of art, music, dance or acting. Not okay.
Beautiful campus and good staff.
It's been successful in the last few years but needs to allow students to be more ambitious.
Commercial Music Student: best course for it. Surrounded by inspirational industry experts and incredible facilities on a picturesque campus.
University set in a lovely location, very homely and a genuinely nice place to live. Brilliant transport links into the centre of Bath, and a city with plenty of things to do
Bath spa is a beautiful uni and Campus and has been an amazing place to study so far I'm looking forward to starting my second year as the history department have done nothing but guide and support me Through my first year, I absolutely love it here and recommend to everyone !
It's a great area to live and study in. There's lots going on every week and the student union are very organised.
Bath Spa University, what a surprise! I study at Sion Hill (the art and design campus) and the facilities are incredible. For me stuff like clubs and opportunities are pretty unnecessary and the students union I don't really feel has any true impact on any university, it just gives students an unnecessary sense of self importance. Due to that I won't be having any input on reviewing those aspects of the university. However the facilities, opportunities and access points I believe are critical for discussion. Sion Hill has amazing facilities which although rather expensive to use, offer much more than any other university in the UK you could attend. Five storeys of incredible workshops, studio spaces and inspiring gallery areas really makes this university an incredible place to study any art and design course at.
Administration is terrible and little time devoted to one on one feedback. Tutors not easy to get hold of and difficult to get meetings with. Money spent on new buildings and halls with major disruption on campus throughout the year.
A lot of amazing lecturers and lovely people around the place, but terrorised by poor management, leadership and organisation from higher up. Prepare to be Spa'd.
A vibrant but homely uni, great if you like staying in or going out. The support system is great!
It maybe a beautiful campus but don't let that fool you. In a few years, maybe, but as for right now spa is nothing more than a glorified college, a sub standard university with mediocre facilities and an incredibly poor faculty of staff across the board. The societies are fun but provide no investment in success and the university is heavily against sport participation by being one of the only universities who don't support the Wednesday afternoon sport policies. From a social point of view Bath is okay, the SU is one of the poorest in the country and the night life isn't spectacular, from an academic point of view Bath Spa offers very little.
Bath spa university is genuinely one of the best universities in my opinion especially as a student studying a creative degree. The main campus Newton Park is beautiful and such an amazing place study. It is cut off from the city of Bath and this makes it perfect for quiet studying, and tranquil walks to reduce creativity. The city of Bath itself is also wonderful as I can study quietly at uni at anytime of day, and then I have the vibrancy of Bath for all my creative and social needs. Bath Spa University offers more than just a degree, the uni helps me with every aspect of my life including extra curricular activities related to my course for example I can go to watch performances of any kind at my uni every week. Also, the friendly atmosphere and support networks helped me massively to feel at home, and the countryside location of the campus and onsite halls offered me a home rather than a place. All the staff and lecturers are friendly and welcoming! I recommend visiting!
Lovely campus, a bit out of the way but so beautiful. There are plenty of societies and it's very easy to set one up if there's enough interest. The SU is great, they run lots of events but it's also a great place to hang out and socialise - it's the real hub of the university with the gym and office upstairs and the bar and shop downstairs.
