All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Pricier accommodation but you get what you pay for. Having an en-suite is a great perk. Just to warn, it’s the last accommodation bus stop and therefore the buses get SUPER busy at peak times like before 9am. Super comfy mattress, warm lighting, enough storage, big pinboard, smaller than average flat sizes, easy to pick up parcels. Laundry is £5.70 for wash and dry. Great canal views on one side of the buildings, other side gets street or brick wall/courtyard view.

This is my second year living here and it's amazing, the team is the best part of living here, they're all so nice and fun. The spaces like the kitchen and the common room are good sizes for the amount of people who live here.
Good value for money, amazing staff! Close to large supermarkets, and several buses running to the city centre.
Really great accommodation, staff are so help and friendly!! Good amenities spacious and comfortable rooms. Way less noisy than other accommodations. Secure location close to 4 food shops and 2 storage places. Short ride to uni with bus stops directly outside.
Worst accommodation experience I’ve had. Staff weren’t helpful with roommate issues and overall a very unfriendly place to live. Not worth the money go to Unite instead if you can.
I absolutely love living here. The Management and reception team are so lovely and it’s so nice having their support and encouragement whilst living here. Definitely the best decision to stay here.
Prefect location for Bath Spa uni (esp Locksbrook campus) the grounds are really clean and townhouses have a real communal feel, with plenty of fridge/freezer and counter space for all 7 of us to cook at once. There are regular cleaners however they seem to disappear for large amounts of time, and do very little when they do turn up. Though there is no communal living room, the kitchen is massive and very spacious, great for hosting. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and are fine with noise, they are always giving out freebies. They even helped us decorate for our Halloween party.
Really nice accommodation, I feel like safe and it's really close to Locksbrook and Lidl.
In really glad I chose to stay here. Despite the issues iv hade and the issues with lockdown iv hade good support here
Twerton Mill is a convenient and pleasant place to stay. Though there is little social interaction with other flatmates people are polite and the staff are super helpful and friendly.
Staff are lovely and the location is perfect for me. However it is not worth the money we pay. Multiple things were broken in the kitchen when we first moved in and we were missing basic things such as a toaster and kettle. For what we are paying I would of expected a larger kitchen with more storage.
Staff were nice and helpful! Very clean, well kept, laundry room was sometimes untidy but that was down to students. Modern looking (not a big fan of the teal colour scheme), cleaners come every 2 wks. Recently installed an electric gate you need to tap in and out of the property, makes it feel very safe as before the main gate was open 24/7. When the washing machines broke down they made an effort to get them fixed ASAP. Good location with the uni bus stopping right outside and city bus only a 2 minute walk. Post office, McColls, Lidl nearby. Bad points. Overpriced for the size. Underbed storage is huge however not very practical as you have to lift the heavy mattress off in order to lift the boards up to get stuff in and out. Noise. Had inconsiderate noisy flat mates that would steal stuff, leave mess everywhere and do drugs all the time. Would come back and blast music at 4am. Main doors to flat/rooms are LOUD and irritating and ppl let them fall shut which wakes you up
