Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Stay in en suite, room size is ok with big window. Just have some drain-blocked problems in my bathroom.
First and foremost, the location of the accommodation was fantastic. It was just a short walk from the main campus buildings, which made attending classes and accessing the library and other facilities incredibly convenient. Additionally, being close to campus also meant that I could easily participate in extracurricular activities and social events.
My overall experience was okay
Very nice accommodation for my first year in the uk - easy access to the shops n restaurants, very good soundproof, great rooftop views and very friendly staffs. Really enjoy my stay here!
Love the front desk girls! So nice and helpful
Love this accommodation!! Always kept clean, and maintenance issues are always handled in a timely manner. Staff are super friendly and helpful, which makes living here more homey. Would definitely recommend it to anyone studying in Goldsmith.
Moving to a new country in the middle of a pandemic was incredibly daunting, but living at Town Hall Camberwell has helped make the transition much easier. The location is great, as Camberwell and Peckham are two bustling South London towns with many great restaurants, cafes, and parks. I live in a studio accommodation and the space is the perfect size, I don't feel cramped at all and the room was clean and updated and has amazing windows that let in a lot of natural light. The rooftop is also a great feature, seeing the entire London skyline always gives me chills. Not to mention that Leonora and Rebecca have been nothing but kind and accommodating to me. They're always willing to answer questions or help me when I need it, and they make this building a safe and inclusive space to be in. I'm very glad that I chose to live in this hall during such a difficult year.
I absolutely love it here! Not a bad word to say about it. The interior is gorgeous, bedrooms are massive, the view never fails to take your breath away and the staff are incredible! I’ve been to a few accommodations visiting friends and for viewings before moving and none compare to this. Worth every penny. The staff have made living here extra special, the most loveliest and warmest people.
Although town hall is a bit more expensive than a lot of other halls, it is 100% worth the money and i’m so glad i decided to spend a bit more on such a nice accommodation! I always feel safe as there are staff at reception during days who are lovely and amazing and security all night, the roof common room has a view of the london skyline, the cleanliness is outstanding, rooms spacious and kitchens are also clean and spacious. In terms of socialising, town hall is a bit on the quieter side when it comes to parties, so if youre looking for a halls on the quieter side town hall is definitely your best option, that being said i have had no issues actually making friends and the option for ‘party’ life is still there (pre and post covid of course), I love this because when I want to socialise I can do, but when I want to do uni work, there is the space to focus as well. I’d say the downstairs common room provides a good study space and the upstairs one for socialising!
I think the fact that this is my third year staying here says enough... if it were up to me I’d probably never leave! Everyone always says how much they hate student halls and accommodation and I absolutely love it! I pay so much less than my other friends in london, I get fast WiFi, a beautiful room, a beautiful view and common area, wonderful and friendly staff plus so much more for LESS than what they pay. I love town hall camberwell so much.
Rebecca on front desk has been so helpful thank you!!
I had a wonderful experience, very hygienic and customer service was fantastic. My stay in London was amazing I will definitely be staying again.
I moved here from a different halls and ended up staying for 2 years. Would recommend for helpful staff, social space and meeting new friends
Loved living here. Rebecca at the front desk is really friendly and helped me settle in. Rooftop give a great view of London. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Was able to book with my friends through my uni and had the best year last year. Being a student warden is a great way of getting to know more people and earning some extra money. Roof top views of London are perfect photo shoot backdrop
Great place to live. Have stayed there for 2 years and rebooking for my 3rd. The team are always so helpful with any problem even out of office hours and having Security here at night means there is always someone to help. The cafe at the front is great too
Very good place to live in London. The staff are very helpful and always willing to help. The building is a new conversion which is looked after really good. Would recommend
The Staff at this accommodation is very helpful and they help me to understand things and letters in english. Very kind ladies in the reception area. Will be recommendations to my friends who visit from Albania.
I am living in town hall camberwell in 2019-2020 academic year, their room are spacious, fresh design and the staff here are so nice and helpful with all our needs. Last but not least, their rooftop is amazing which can view the whole London.
