All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Its an overpriced student accommodation for facilities offered
I like this accommodation mainly because of two reasons. One is that the location is very convenient. It is very near the shops and there is a good transport service. The other reason is that the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. You can always turn to them whenever you have problems.
Great location and friendly staff.
The management here is wonderful and staffs are friendly and helpful ! Cleaning service had been carried out every day which is perfect! The only thing is that it is blocked by other buildings which have restrictions on view. And some windows in room is made by matte which is not clear so tenants will be unable to look through outside
The reception at Therese House is very friendly and are always willing to help in whatever problem you have. The location is perfect as everything you need is very close, especially the Barbican station.
i love living here i just wished we had more social places to engage with other residents. the wifi needs to be fixed as zoom makes the wifi really slow
As a resident of three years running, I have had a fantastic experience throughout my time at Therese House. The building is well-secured, well-lit, and clean, the entire staff is extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help you, and they have made the living experience both pre-and-post-Covid an easy, pleasant experience. Would absolutely recommend to anyone wishing to live in a great, central location!
It locates in a good place and I enjoy living here. Many Chinese friends here.
Nice staff, and very safe place to live
Therese House is very well located in the city of London. The rooms are quite spacious and have everything you need to feel comfortable and at home. The staff is always very friendly and the accommodation is well organised.
Zoom can be a bit lagging, but apart from this Therese House is an amazing place. Newly furnished, good location, and more importantly amazingly friendly and professional staff.
I think this is a Good place for student to live,it has a good location with nice officers.
Good location, lovely to live in this area
Amazing staff, super nice and helpful. Good location and there is even an Asian supermarket nearby. Convenient public transport.
Therese House is a wonderful place to live, it’s location was a massive decider for me when I was looking at accommodation. It’s been a different experience this year to what I expected, due to covid. But we have still had some virtual events. It can sometimes be noisy with the window open as it backs onto another university accommodation. But the building itself is quiet and a great place to stay.
Everyone in the reception is friendly and kind, and the environment here is also good.
The student accommodation is neat, efficient and peaceful.
