Good hostel, exceeded expectations. Quiet, not much social acitivity, rooms are spacious enough, and well lit. Window position and size is a bit too much though, little privacy
If your in the John Creed Building, may God have mercy on you Possibly the worst accommodation on the entire campus, which hasn’t been updated since 1985, making it the longest without refurbishment. Pros: Rooms are very Large Relativity clean Cons: VERY isolating, the accommodation is Ex post graduate so the flats are very small in number of people NO SOCIAL space whatsoever Kitchen is tiny and doesn’t even have enough chairs for everyone in the flat Some of the rooms have Baths instead of showers which accommodation services don’t tell u about until you turn up on the day Windows don’t shut out sound due to broken vents, so lorry’s and Vans reversing keep you up all night No bedside table provided Not enough plug sockets Beds are creaky Lights make horrible noises when you turn them on Summary: Avoid this place like the plague, it’s an absolute scam done by the university to cram more people on campus
I think it is somewhat overpriced. Management can be unfair with deductions at the end of the year. Location was very handy and convenient. The social spaces are clean and well kept with the PC Lab nearby.

Amazing college and by far the best one in Uni. The location of it is exactly the best. Near the Sports Center and very close to almost all lecture theatre is a fabulous choice.
Ended up making friends with the cleaner (named Tracey) - what a gem!!! I’d say county main accommodation (superior standard) is the best for value of money, location and cleaning!! If you want a really amazing social life though then townhouses are more for you!!
Everythjng could be a bit better
Loved my halls! Had great flatmates in first and second year - if you have good housemates not only will you get on well with them but the cleaning and sharing is alot easier.
County main sucks - you’ll be put with 3rd years that are all best friends and the building is really non social - No access to meet other people - the buildings are depressing - best part about them( is the porters are friendly - they really don’t care about you in county though
County townhouse was the best accommodation I could have picked. Amazing for meeting new people and making friends. Only way it could be improved is if cleaning was included in the price like in other student accomodation on campus as the kitchen often ended up disgusting.

County Townhouses are fantastic and so social
County townhouses we’re definitely the best accommodation choice for me
I love the collegiate system at the university. All colleges provide the same core services but all have a different feeling. It is like having a family whilst at university.
The price of the accommodation itself is a bit high if you take into account other accommodations for students in the city as well as other universities but provides a sense of security with all-present porters as well as being in a distance of a maximum 8 minute walk to any lecture theatre. The WiFi service is good but on the other hand it requires a bit of a process in the event of logging out as well as when a reboot occurs.

Each college has their own sense of community but with county being the largest you're sure to find a group of friends amoungst them.

The feeling at county is that of a community, where everyone knows everyone. The halls are some of the best on campus and quite central. The community space isn't the best at the moment but is getting better as I write this.
County College is a good location if you are doing art subjects. But the state of my room was horrible and no one would help me out and then I lost my deposit even though I recorded everything in my room and the state of it
The facilities for students are poor compared to the facilities offered to other students in different colleges

Garbage, claims to be a prehistoric bar, has nothing but snakes to convey that theme making the place a bit s*** really.
I was in County Main for my first year. Had the time of my life. My only concern would be that the number of people you are with leads to a higher chance that you may not get on with one or more of them. I was fortunate, but keep in mind that the more relaxed you are about mess and rowdy, drunk flatmates, the less insane you will be driven.
The Townhouses are definitely value for money, just a shame there isn't any cleaning services included seeing as the townhouses are one of the biggest types of County accommodation here at Lancaster. Apart from that great place to live, great social space and definitely worth applying for.
Townhouses are the most sociable accommodation by far and rrally comfortable. Love the extra independence and the location at the north end of campus is great for a bit of peace and quiet whilst still 2 minutes from most lectures.
The accommodation is a great value for money and provides a large socialising area. I would apply for this accommodation especially if you're looking for opportunities to socialise.

County Main good price for money but got mould and damp problem - bad location for most courses
Nice rooms and good social area, however expensive in comparison to other halls which get a cleaner, toilet roll and bin bags!

Really good place to live with lots of social space, good cleaning and the rooms are really spacious and good value.
All self-cleaned but really worth it for the size of the room and the social areas. Had problems living with 12 people but that was based on personalities not halls.
County Main, an affordable option with lovely rooms, sharing a bathroom with 2-3 others, never had to wait to use the toilet/shower, kitchen's could be abit bigger, gets abit cramped at times, but in a sociable flat of 13 it works well.

Wifi is great, easy walking distance of everything but with lovely views of the square, big grassy area out front and back

Townhouses. Best accommodation and experience of my life. Like living with one huge, dysfunctional happy family. Accommodation choice can really make or break your student experience and county townhouses are by far the best choice.
It's the best and everyone want to be in County College!
I live in the John Creed building and the social aspect is dismal. I am a first year fresher and got an unconditional offer back in February and was promised first choice accomodation. I expected my halls to be full of freshers but its either mature international students or 2nd and 3rd years and consequently my social life has taken a massive hit. Location is very good but I wasn't aware that I was going to be so isolated.

Great social spaces in the townhouse and prime location out just enough so it's quiet when you want it to be but still only 5 minutes away from the main square.
I was in a County Townhouse and it was amazing. Only shared a bathroom with one other person which was great, the communal space was lovely because we had sofas and a living area not just a kitchen. It was nice that it was a townhouse shape so felt more homely than big blocks. You do have to clean it yourself though which isn't too bad as long as you have a rota to minimise arguments.

Stayed in a townhouse, perfect size rooms, with many housemates so there was never a dull moment. Good kitchens, with massive social area including a living room.
County Townhouse - may be considered expensive but is so worth it for a great first year! Very sociable and in a great location even though it's at the top end of campus. 100% recommend!
Lancaster University is very proud of its residences which are consistently ranked top in the country. Unfortunately this makes them very expensive. County is a good college and county main is the cheapest accommodation on campus that still has a communal living area.

The most beautiful location on Lancaster University campus. The bar is one of the most active, with comedy nights and live music. The rooms are some of the largest for the best price.
[County Main] I love the quality of the room and the kitchen is fairly good as well. Lots of communal space in each flat. It isn't too far from the centre with 5 minutes to spar and 2 minutes to the bar. There is also a snooker room open to County members which seems to be used often enough.
Really good sized room with lots of storage and good bathroom sharing ratios. Unfortunately not cleaned :(

Townhouse: - Expensive, but by far the best accommodation on campus. The social space is a huge kitchen/living room on the bottom floor which results in a much closer flat than most other student halls. - On the edge of main campus, so it is 5-10 minutes to George Fox Lecture Theatre (where most 1st year lectures are) but still a lot closer to the rest of the community than South-West (Cartmel/Lonsdale). - Breakages can be reported physically or by a smartphone app, and are usually fixed within 24 hours. The longest I've waited was a day and a half. - No cleaning service in Townhouses so can't give it any stars for that (though there are in the rest of County), but to be honest it would have been an unnecessary cost because contrary to popular belief, it's pretty easy to keep your halls tidy enough - County Bar was poor but has recently been renovated, now with a Costa during the day and a decent, cheap bar at night, plus karaoke and comedy nights throughout the week.

Because the flats are quite big it doesn't feel as homey, but some people do thrive here. Also great location if you're an English student!
Living on campus is slightly pricey and the cleaners will not throw the rubbish out. If unluckily living together with irresponsible flatmates, the kitchen can be horrible.
County College townhouses are fantastic! Always something going on; a great community and beautiful rooms.
The townhouses are amazing to live in
The town houses in both County and Grizdale are the most amazing places to be for your first year as you get to know everyone really quickly and you have a massive social space downstairs ready for pre drinks or just having meals together which other halls don't offer. I think people get worried abut having to share a bathroom with another person but haven't found that a problem at all, most likely that person will become one of your most closest friends as you are living next door to each other as well.
The County Townhouses are excellent and an absolute must for your first year at Lancaster! Living on campus is also great for getting to lectures etc, but can feel closed off from town at times. Now for the bad points, living on campus is expensive! so much more expensive than living in town. They have stupid rules such as 'Party Permits', how ridiculous, especially when 99% of people living in Townhouses are first years. Oh, also the college housing officer is a pain, she sends emails constantly reminding you that you can't leave the recycling boxes outside your door etc. The university staff also walk into house without warning, walking around you living room/ landings, when you question them they say "it's our right to be in here, it's in your tenancy agreement", that may be so, but warning before walking in would be appreciated! It's not all bad, the County Porters are excellent and are always on hand to provide assistance 24/7.

my experience on campus was one of the best! Living away from home for the first time was a smooth transition.
The townhouses are great and you form a little community with your neighbours , the rooms are new and are give you plenty of space and there is lots of storage
Living in county townhouses was the best accommodation I could have wished for. Nice bedroom, bathroom shared with one other person and a huge communal living room/kitchen. Very sociable and out of all the halls I have visited it is by far the best.
Bedrooms covered in mould. Showers ridiculous size. Pay grand and a half for 3 months of showering in basically a standing coffin.

Living in a county townhouse was the best decision I made. You live with 11 other people, so you get a great variety of personalities; and whilst that can sometimes be a downside, I wouldn't trade it because whilst you are more likely to live with idiots, you're also more likely to meet some amazing people, of which I did. The facilities and social space were amazing and really really spacious. Unfortunately, being in a townhouse meant no cleaner, which proved to be a huge problem. Despite this, county college accommodation overall is so good, I'm moving back into it in my third year because it's so handy for location and security etc

Sharing a kitchen with 12 other people with cooking space for 3. The showers are impressively awful as well. Just about enough room to clean my left a**e cheek.
The townhouse in which I live in provides me with a space for me to socialise with my house mates as well as other houses in nearby areas. The facilities in my accommodation and surrounding are all good and I do not have any issues with anything.
Rooms and bathrooms great but in County South don't have communal space other than kitchen and corridor which are both uncomfy, miss having a sofa. Beds are a bit narrow but otherwise spacious. Great location on campus.
If you get good people it is an amazing experience
