The city is fairly quiet but a great place for students that enjoy the outdoors as the area is surrounded by scenic countryside. The Forest of Bowland is located to the east of Lancaster and is a stunning area for hiking trips. You can also visit the Lake District, only 1 hour away, for weekend trips. If you fancy a trip to the coast, you can explore the English seaside town of Morecambe, just a 30-minute bus journey away. Lancaster is full of beautiful architecture and there are a range of castles, memorials and cathedrals to explore. Marketgate Shopping Centre is in the town centre where you can find popular brand names and there is also Charter Market open twice a week where you can find cheap fruit and veg.
