Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
I've been to a lot of other Lancaster student accommodation and I've always thought Luneside was the right choice for me. First of all, I think for someone who likes to be quiet, Lunene is not in the most bustling area of the town centre, so you don't have to worry about being disturbed by the noise of cars and people, which is great and allows you to completely relax while in the dorm. But that doesn't mean Luneside isn't as convenient as other apartments, Luneside has a dedicated bus stop that allows you to get to the town centre by car, and you can get to it in just ten minutes on foot without a car. Secondly, Luneside has 24-hour security, which is not available in many other apartments, where you may lose your delivery because there is no one at the reception in the middle of the night, but this is completely impossible at Luneside! The staff of the apartment team were also very welcoming!

I moved to Luneside in November, and I’ve been really impressed with everything here. The staff are incredibly responsible and helpful—they made my check-in process smooth and stress-free. The facilities are excellent, with a laundry room, gym, common room, and even a pool table. What I love most is the vibrant community atmosphere. Luneside frequently organizes fun events and even gives out small treats, which makes living here so enjoyable. Recently, I won a box of chocolates in one of their raffles, and it absolutely made my day! If you’re looking for a place with great amenities and a caring team, I highly recommend Luneside. It’s more than just a residence—it’s a community!
As a first-year student abroad, I was a little nervous about living alone for the first time. It took me three months to choose luneside as my first year home, and it didn't disappoint. First of all, when I did not check in, I was able to get patient and meticulous help from the staff through email. On the first day of our stay, we got a lot of help from the staff, everyone was friendly and responsible, and there were small desserts and snacks for us from time to time. As an international student, I found comfort in an unfamiliar environment. Secondly, the room was very clean and nice, meeting all my expectations for a small home... The gym of the apartment is also very practical for many things, so that I, who do not love sports, also fall in love with sports. I think luneside is the best student apartment in my heart, and it gives me the warmth of home. I loved luneside, and I still chose it for the next school year.❤️
A beautifully furnished, homely accommodation. Rooms (including kitchen and bathroom) are easy to clean, maintenance is a friendly bunch who respond quickly and do a great job, giving advice for day-to-day use as well. Enthusiastic staff members at reception providing advice/help and occasional events for students, with many bookable rooms with different uses. Quick response to emails, and just an overall wonderful place to be. Buses are sometimes less convenient, but a wonderful walk/view of the Lune.
I like the location, even if it is on the other side of town from the uni. Bus stop is right outside so travel isn't too bad. The Aldi and the Sainsbury's are only a short walk, and the river makes for a nice view if you're in a room facing it Rooms have a big bed but are a bit small otherwise. They can be a bit cold in the winter and the heating isn't great. The bathrooms are nice, a better than when I was on the Lancaster campus Kitchen facilities are unremarkable, but do the job The onsite gym is free and reasonably well-equipped, no need to go to the uni one
Helpful and kind staff from the reception and maintenance department. Location is quiet and peaceful, nice for study.
Luneside really is such an incredible student accommodation. Being away from home is quite difficult, but knowing how accommodating all the staff are, makes me feel extremely safe. They’re the best, honestly. 10/10. I’ll be staying again next year. Thank you to Kirsty, Emma, Amie, Warren and Dave. They’re all FAB!
This is now my second year staying in Luneside and will definitely be staying again next year. Firstly, the staff are incredible, management are always up for talking to you when you walk past the office, very polite and up for a laugh, they are ready to help with any issues and help in any way they can. Next, maintenance, the maintenance guys are fab they are there to fix any issue ASAP usually within 24 hours and they themselves have a good laugh with you and try to get to know everyone. Luneside also provides with 24 hours on site secure, the security guys are always playing pool with the students and are helping if anything is needed. The rooms at Luneside are fantastic, they are big, have an en-suite, modern, big windows which most student accommodation doesn’t and finally amazing working and social spaces for students to use. Luneside is amazing value for money and I would highly recommend staying here if you are attending university in Lancaster! Chloe
I’ve been living in Luneside for over three years now and have experienced both a shared flat and a premium studio. Both are finished to a high standard, well-designed and comfortable. The staff here are incredibly friendly and always willing to help—there’s always someone available when you need assistance. If you have a car, it’s perfect. The permit parking area has plenty of spaces, making it super convenient. For those without a car, the bus stop is right outside, making it really easy to get to uni or anywhere else. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk into town, so close but far enough away to avoid the noise from late-night outings. Currently, I have a room overlooking the river, and the view is fantastic. The floor-to-ceiling windows let in loads of natural light, which makes the space feel bright and airy. There’s also plenty of study space and communal areas for socialising, which are great when you want to step away from your flat or room. Would definitely recommend!
Emma and Kirsty are amazing they Accomdation is really great
The accommodation staff are so lovely, they always say hi and ask if you need anything. The maintenance is not only attentive but friendly and they love a chat. For the price, I think the studios could include a kettle or/and toaster. The free gym and pool tables are great too. The area itself is brilliant, the bus stop outside means you can leave your room within minutes of the bus and also a 10 minute walk to the bus station, supermarket and town centre.
Luneside is great value for the price. Although it is a bit of a walk from cable street due to the one way system and the 4 bus stopping at 7 it is hard for people that take part of social activities and sports to get home in less than 40 mins.
Friendly staff and various facilities
Living in Luneside, Lancaster for 2 years time now. They provide such a variety of facilities and social events for us. And also they have a very friendly and helpful management team and maintenance team . Therefore, I would recommend every students to consider Luneside as an option to live in.
Luneside is a perfect place for me to live. I feel safe in my accommodation due to the incredible level of security for getting in and around the buildings. The rooms are a perfect size and I love having an ensuite bathroom. Excellent quality for the price.
the staff is extremely helpful as they would respond immediately to any doubts such as maintenance, they are very quick. the location is just a 10 minute walk to sainsbury’s and the bus station, which is quite convenient. i would highly recommend to stay at luneside as everything is available here such as a laundry room, gym and even a cinema room.
Good value for the price. It’s newly built about 2-3years ago so everything is very new and clean! Water and electricity bill included which is a big plus for me! Staffs are super friendly and helpful too.
Best student accommodation in Lancaster. What makes it great is the staff. Kirsty, Emma, Kirsty, and in particular Warren, he is such a kind soul❤️
It’s a great place to live! The staff is all super friendly and it was definitely a good decision to live here.
The living experience is very good and the internet speed is good
Great area and staff is gentile and quick to answer. Very clean
Stayed for 2 years, will misss this place next year
Luneside has by far been my favourite accommodation throughout my 3 years in Lancaster. It’s in a quiet location, close to town, affordable, clean, modern, and very calming. My friendship group live in 3 other similar halls in Lancaster, and we always meet at luneside because of how nice it is in comparison to the others. Alongside a beautiful room, there’s amenities such as a Gym, study area (with bookable rooms), pool and table tennis, cinema room, Nintendo switch, vending machines and private dining! In my two previous accommodations, I didn’t have the best experience with management - However, at Luneside, Kirsty, Emma, and Aimee have made my time here really nice; they’re friendly, approachable, and are quick with sorting out enquiries. Overall, I can’t fault luneside in any way! If I decide to take my masters in Lancaster, I will definitely be staying at luneside again. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do! - Raman 🤍
Loved leaving here in my final year of uni!
Luneside is somewhere as soon as I applied to university, that I knew I wanted to live. The facilities, the staff/managers, the site security team, the accommodation, the communal spaces - all are incredible and I feel so unbelievably lucky to live here. Big thanks to Kirsty, Emma, Aimee, Dave & Warren 🩷 -Aimée
Rooms are lovely and very clean, staff are absolutely brilliant and the price is very much worth it.
Good place, people are friendly, security are 5*, mirza is top
I love luneside! It is convenient and clean and well maintained!
Luneside is a very hospitable living space with very kind staff
Best accommodation in Lancaster, good price-quality
Excellent staff and facilities. Short walk to town, 30 minute bus journey to campus with convenient bus stop location.
I have really enjoyed my time here. The study space is sometimes cold which would be my only complaint about the social areas. Best bathrooms out of all student accom i’ve stayed in really nice. Fridges are not the best quality but anything we’ve had a problem with has been fixed
Really nice decorated rooms, staff are absolutely lovely! Bit expensive yes, but totally worth it
Luneside is certainly the best student accommodation in Lancaster. It is located a short walk from the city centre along the picturesque River Lune, so you are never far from the shops, but you are away from the noisy streets in town. There is also a bus stop just outside the accommodation that goes to the bus station and campus. The building itself is modern and clean, making it a great environment to be in. There are often events held within the social spaces, which provide the opportunity to get to know your neighbours. The rooms in Luneside are brilliant. I stayed in a standard ensuite in my first year, and am now staying in a standard studio for my third year. The rooms are also very modern and have a clean look, with large windows and a great amount of storage. The staff at Luneside are wonderful and always a joy to talk to. Maintenance is carried out quickly and issues are easy to report. Overall, I highly recommend Luneside and couldn't imagine a better place to stay for uni!
It’s a very nice and neat place to live. Not that far from city centre, and people are very accommodating too.
Security staff is the highlight of the accommodation they always make me feel safe and secure being here at all times and are very approachable and helpful. Please pass this feedback onto them and reward them for their work as I’m sure many others share this view.
Good place to live, happy with the place
Luneside student accommodation is in the perfect area, a short walk into town and the bus station (making it a short commute to university).
Enjoyed living here. Would recommend it! Great management (Kirsty & Emma) If you decide to book, mention Promo Code HARRYG and you’ll get special treatment. A*
Great staff, great spaces, amazing social spaces and an all round nice acrea
This is a new accommodation. All equipments are in good condition. Every staff is kind and warm. There are a lot of events in order to help everyone to know each other.
wonderful staff and extremely helpful with everything going on during coronavirus. Especially during times of isolation the support and assistance was incredible.
Fabulous staff who are very friendly and very helpful!
Luneside has been lovely this year
Great rooms, great view, great facilities
Very friendly staff, helpful in booking
Excellent student accommodation, great for value. Would recommend!
Luneside is amazing! I would strongly recommend it for anyone who wants to get some actually studying done. It is close enough to town without all the noise. The entire team at luneside is super nice and they really help out. Kirsty is AMAZING and she really makes everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Luneside is superb.
Definitely recommend Luneside! Kirsty, Emma, Warren and all the members of the staff team are truly wonderful, they are always ready to help and have a chat. I love my accommodation: the room, my view, location, facilities, all brilliant! 10/10
Luneside is great clean and modern accommodation! The study areas are great, with being away from the university it’s great to have the study areas so you don’t have to travel to the university if not needed! Whilst the social spaces have been used limitedly this year I look forward to using them next year! Luneside staff are always so friendly and willing to help with anything!
Brand new student accommodation with top quality facilities and very friendly and supportive security/staff like mirza who has handled situations in a very professional manner.
Lovely student accomodation the staff is amazing the security gaurd mirza is very helpful always going the extra mile for all the students.
Great Staff, and lovely team that makes everyone feel at home
The Luneside Team go above and beyond for their tenants. My car broke down and handyman Warren sacrificed his lunch break to help me take off my old tire and put a new one on. Not to mention the accommodation managers; Kirsty and Emma, who always have an open channel of communication, where you will always be welcomed with smiles and a hello. I couldn’t ask for more from an accommodation team.
Super accommodating, the ladies (Kirsty and Emma) and all the security staff are so friendly. Build a rapport with all their tenants, very approachable. Lovely place, very modern & the location is unmatched.
Great accommodation staff are great study areas are always clean and same with corridors, staff are really polite and always on hand for any help 24/7, after 5 security are always around for any help or for any issues. In a great location which isn’t far from the town centre and both bus route is outside for university route. Staying here again next year so everything is just great and staff have always helped me when I’ve needed it. Also perk is the gym and pool table nice area to socialise with friends. And the gym is a advantage as it comes along with the price you pay weekly which is great to save on membership fee at gym. Staff always give you welcoming smile and will always have a chat with you when you go to reception. Including maintenance and Cleaner. Big thanks to Warren.
Staying at Luneside has been a wonderful experience. I have a great view of the quay, met some amazing people and the staff are so welcoming. As an international student, I love that it feels like home away home.
Great location, great facilities, and super friendly staff. Unfortunately not much chance for socialising this year but fingers crossed that can change soon!
Don't rent from here. I have been forced to pay full rent for an accommodation that I'm not living in, and I'm not alone in my situation. CRM students only care about money and will ditch you under the bus when they have the chance!
