Living at St Leonard's House has been a fantastic experience overall. The location is incredibly convenient, with easy access to the bus station, making commuting a breeze. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help, creating a warm and positive environment. I also love the atmosphere here — it's peaceful and comfortable, perfect for studying or relaxing after a long day. However, one downside is the Fob reader at the front door, which has been broken for a while now. This has caused a few inconveniences, especially when trying to enter the building. It would be great if that could be fixed soon. Despite that, I’m still very happy living here and would highly recommend St Leonard’s House to anyone looking for a student home.

St Leonard’s House offers modern student accommodation in Lancaster. Based right in the heart of the town, St Nicholas Arcade Shopping Centre is just a two-minute walk away from the accommodation and there are restaurants and nightlife spots just a stone’s throw away. When it comes to getting to university, the University of Cumbria, Lancaster campus is only a twenty-two-minute walk away and the University of Lancaster is a twenty-one-minute cycle away.
St Leonard’s House has a fantastic selection of communal spaces to enjoy with friends. There’s a common room with games, a communal dining room and even a private fitness studio which is free for residents to use. There are also handy features such as on-site laundry facilities, secure bike storage and a communal kitchen. For peace of mind, there is an on-site maintenance team, CCTV and all utility bills included.
There are both ensuite rooms in cluster flats and self-contained studios to choose from. The ensuite rooms are great for those who are looking for a social atmosphere in a shared flat. Each flat shares an equipped kitchen and living space. For those looking for more independent living, the high-spec studio apartments offer more privacy with fitted kitchenettes and ensuite shower rooms. What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

St Leonard's House is a great place for students to stay. It is right in the city centre and only minutes from the bus station making it a convenient location, especially if you're not already familiar with the area. The rooms are modern, clean and spacious as well as cosy and with plenty of storage space. Staff are very friendly and helpful and take an interest in knowing your name and speaking with you in passing. I would recommend St Leonard's House to other students.
Lovely accomodation and facilities! Staff and management are all so lovely and helpful. The accomodation is truthfully very expensive for the quality of living here. Would recommend for people who have groups of friends staying here. Common room is lovely for hanging out with mates but it's often left in a mess and not very nice to sit in.

Bad points: •Have windows but don’t open. If you’re sick you breathe in the same air, ventilation poor. Was told there would be air con but is not. •No kitchen appliances: no kettle, no toaster, no hoover, no iron, no ironing board, no TV •Keys: doors automatically lock upon leaving so have to have your key all the time. However, no locks into flat so anyone can enter kitchen area or communal zones, feels unsafe. •Water: sometimes cannot get hot water for a while •Electricity: wifi works but electricity can knock off over night •Security: no one walking around or near doors especially at night. Not good at emergencies as often not in reception. Lift was broken for over a month, inconvenient. •Parking: expensive car park opposite but nothing for residents •Location: next to Sugar Nightclub so loud if you’re next to it •Laundry: not free Good: •Good and reliable wifi •Social things are sometimes organised throughout the week and nice communal areas (I.e gym)
Perfect accommodation in a really suitable location for a student. The staff are really friendly and lovely! Amazing social room facilities, where you can play pool, table tennis or even some board games with your friends. High value for money and a wonderful experience
The staff at St Leonard’s are so lovely and helpful, always making you feel at home! The location is also perfect, so central, and minutes from the bus station which is always better for getting the bus to uni. The rooms are spacious and perfect for students. There is a spacious gym and common room where you can spend time with friends, cook, play games etc! Would definitely recommend St Leonard’s House for anyone looking for a place in Lancaster.

I have been living in St Leonard's House since my first year, and the reason why I stayed is because the management of the apartment is awesome. They are always here whenever I needed help, most importantly the staff member are soooo nice!!
The best part about this accommodation is the genuine care each member of staff has for every student’s safety and happiness while living there. They are more than willing to go out of their way to ensure that my wellbeing and mental health were okay, and I love that I get to say hi and bye every time I walk pass by them through the entrance door. I love that I get to turn to Bonnie for advice, have a fun chat with Michael just talking about the day or what me and my friends have been up to, and have Matt’s company when I stay up late at night to do my essays. The gym and the common room is cool and spacious- and I enjoy that I get to have some place else besides my room to hang out. For someone who had been on campus accommodation for the past three years, I love that I get to be more active in the city centre. Unfortunately it’s my last year in Lancaster, but if it wasn’t, I’d definitely book another year here!

Avoid at all costs, the accommodation is entirely unliveable and will not change. The temperature inside is unbelievable, I bought a thermometer which has reached 30°C at times. I do not understand how it is legal, the windows don’t open and air conditioning doesn’t work, and never has at any point since the building opened as far as I can tell from speaking to current and former residents. Any time the issue is raised to staff you are simply told that they are aware of the issue and working on getting it fixed. This is not an avoidable issue, I read the reviews regarding this issue and ignored them thinking I could get away with it and using a fan in my room would be okay. This doesn’t cool the room sufficiently, during the day the heat is sweltering and at night you just have to sleep naked with the fan pointed directly at you and hope you get a couple of hours. It isn’t really noticeable during first term, but in second and third term the heat is agonising. Stay away.

One of the most lovely places I’ve lived in during my time in Lancaster. The building is immaculate and right in the centre of town which is perfect for commuting to and from uni. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and it’s been a genuine pleasure to live here for the past year.

The staff here are very friendly and patient. They will help you when you need have problems. The building is also in a good location. You can walk to Sainsbury in eight mins and a five mins walk to the bus station.

Absolutely brilliant accommodation with spacious modern rooms in a perfect location close to the bus station, Sainsbury's and town centre! Every single member of staff are amazing and genuinely care for student well-being, going above and beyond to help and resolve any issues! The entire building is very secure, so you always feel very safe even living alone. All of the facilities are super high quality and modern (gym and common room!) I could not recommend staying here more!

Due to Covid all social spaces closed so can't really comment. Nice location, really helpful staff especially Nicola! Replaced stained mattress after I asked and gave me a new room because the door wouldn't lock.

We are saddened that we cannot open the amazing gym and social spaces for you all, but as soon as the restrictions are lifted we will open them and arrange a great social occasion for all. During these difficult times however we have continued to keep the whole student experience going with zoom quizzes, competitions, free friday night supper, goodie bags and fruity friday to name a few. Due to our convenient flexible weekend check ins the security team at short notice changed rooms and the door lock was reprogrammed and the mattress replaced promptly thanks to our amazing inhouse maintenance team. I visited St Leonard's House during the pandemic. The whole St. Leonard's team was super polite, nice and accommodating. They took care of each and every tenant. Also, special health measures were arranged to protect us from Covid-19. I felt safe and understood at all times. Furthermore, Nicky and Bonnie have been extremely helpful and I am very grateful. I can only recommend the St. Leonards to others.

The studios offer a really quiet place for studying which is helpful as a final year student. They are very spacious and have ample storage, however it does not contain an oven so if you want to cook something requiring an oven I would recommend bringing an air fryer (or use the communal kitchen if it is open). The studio is always warm due to being on the top floor and not having an openable window so I also recommend bringing a good fan if you want to stay cool. The building is secure and clean and the communal areas are nice, although they have been understandably closed for most of the year due to covid. The staff are friendly and put on regular events. Deliveries are securely kept at reception and post is stored in your personal post-box. The internet is very fast and has been reliable. Maintenance issues with boilers etc are quickly resolved and I have not personally had any issues in my flat requiring maintenance. Sainsbury's and the bus station are a couple minutes walk away.

I have lived in two studios now at St Leonard’s House. They have been so accommodating during the pandemic and I couldn’t have asked for better from them. Nicky and Bonnie are both so lovely and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Everything is super high quality and modern, the facilities are fab (gym and common room) and it has everything you could want. It’s also very secure, and you always feel safe in the building. I couldn’t recommend staying here more !

Really good accommodation, rooms are bright and modern! The studios are a good size with a kitchen that is easy to use. Though I haven’t been able to make as much use of social spaces because of Covid, the gym is excellent, with lots of equipment

It’s one of the most convenient places in town. Grocery, essentials, city centre. everything is near by. The staff members are super friendly and helpful at all times. My personal favourite is Matt. Also special thanks to Bonnie and Nicola for arranging different events, snacks and everything fun, one of the reasons I rebooked my room at st Leonards housing.

Really good student accommodation. Amazing location near everything needed. The staff are very friendly and are always there to help. The studios are very nice and well-spaced. Overall amazing stay.
Very close to supermarket and bus station. Can walk into city centre in 2 mins. Building staff very friendly and lots of kitchen cupboard/fridge space. Quickly built perhaps but safe and overall would book again.
Shaky start as it was barely ready by the time we were all moving in. There were quite a lot of issues in the first few months but management were pretty good in fixing said issues. Towards the end once it was mostly all fixed it was enjoyable. My one main issue with the building was that the windows in your room and kitchen do not open. This was incredibly frustrating as the air ventilation is not consistent and sometimes it can get very hot inside.

I am very satisfied with St. Leonard's House and it is definitely my second home! I really enjoy staying there. Excellent management team, spacious room and kitchen, very good gym facility, beautiful interior, good location and most importantly very clean accommodation. It is highly recommended, as it is the best in modern student accommodation in Lancaster, with stylish and comfortable studios just minutes from everything!
St Leonard's is perfectly located in Lancaster and has everything you would need near by. The staff are friendly and helpful, they create a warming welcome atmosphere. Everything in the building works, the gym and communal spaces are great additions to the facilities. The only issue is that the windows don't open in the room, but the vent system is satisfactory.
St. Leonard's House have always been my second home and i really enjoy staying there. I am very content with everything around there such as spacious room and kitchen, very good gym facility, beautiful interior, excellent location and most importantly very clean accommodation. I will be staying there for as long as i can until I am through with my studies.

Lovely accommodation located just a few minutes walk from the local bus station and supermarkets. Accommodation has large and comfortable sized rooms with a indoor gym and spacious rooms to study and hang out in. Extremely fast wi-fi connection to handle all types of service. Managed by an amazing team of staff that are always there to support you whenever there is an issue. Would definitely recommend to any student looking to be located in the heart of Lancaster Town and want value for their money.
Love this accommodation! Great location in the city, immediate access to everything you need. Sainsburys is just right across the street and the bus station and the city centre are a few minutes away. The best thing I love about this place is that the staffs are very caring and friendly and they always make sure you are having a wonderful time here. I encountered a few problems before and was a bit stressed about them. They eased my worries and had them sorted right away.
Amazing new property in the city centre very close to all shops and nightlife as well as the local bus station . The staff really care about the students they are Extremely helpful, friendly and quick to respond to any issues or concerns . What makes it extra special and amazing value for money is the in-house gym and fantastic communal area where the staff hold frequent events and social occasions , all rooms have a double bed and en-suite facilities making it a really comfortable stay. Definitely deserve a 5 star rating .
