Northgate House is located in an idyllic area in close proximity to Cardiff University and the city centre. You have plenty to explore and enjoy as Cardiff Castle is right next door and there are numerous nightlife spots, St David’s shopping centre, parks, coffee shops and vintage shops a stone’s throw away.
If you are looking to brush up on your cooking skills, you can take advantage of the kitchen facilities. To make your stay as easy as can be there are bike storage and laundry facilities. The building is equipped with CCTV and secure key entry for your safety. To ensure your stay is hassle-free, there is a management team, contents insurance and all-inclusive bills.
The accommodation has a wide variety of studios and shared apartments to choose from. These rooms have been priced, sized and fitted to suit all needs and budgets.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Overall this accommodation building is in ideal location, the building itself is a little run down compared to other hello student accommodation in the area and you can see this when you have to visit the main Windsor House site. During my time at Northgate I didn’t have too many problems except from noise and silverfish in the bathroom. The laundry room also was unreliable with washing machines taking double the time to finish and then a leak in the plumbing leading to water soaked carpets. I’d recommend staying at Windsor House if you’re looking for accommodation rather than here. Windsor House has all the features on site including study rooms, gym, bike storage (although my bike was stolen from it!), staff on site, cinema and games room etc

So far my experience with hello student and living in northgate is good. There are a few issues like maintenance but the staff is good at fixing them and sorting the issues out. Staff are also understanding when rent is late due to student finance which is very handful.

Having more concern about noise level issue, compare to the last year. Moreover, the security of the house is more concerned compared to the last year, by feeling less safer in the house.

Very good location, most affordable studio room I could find at the time I had been looking! There’s no social spaces but you have access to some at Windsor House. Maintenance is extremely prompt as well.

Superb location,but it doesn't come with any amenities and there is only 2 washing machine in the property, not recommend to new comers
