Brilliant accomodation, rebooked for a second year and moving in with people that I met through social events ran within the accommodation. All the staff are lovely and helpful too, if you're studying engineering at Cardiff it's less than a 5 minute walk to the campus which is ideal too.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I stayed in Arofan House for a year during lockdown due to a change in plans. My experience has been amazing as I managed to make new friends in an uncertain time and just had a blast in general. Coming back to stay over the summer after graduation, I am glad to see not much had changed. Chris, who worked at reception, was very helpful in the moving process and responded to e-mails and any complaints. The whole staff, in general, has been very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this place to any Cardiff students
One of the best accommodation for the pricing - the staff here are exceptionally friendly and put on free events to help settle in newer students and entertain older ones. The location is well situated being near Queen St and only 20 minutes away from the Cathays campus.
Very friendly staff so homesickness is never a problem. The location is perfect and central to almost every cuisine.

I think it’s a great place location wise especially for people at the school of engineering. The staff are friendly and always happy to help although had a few issues when a change of management occurred. I think it’s well worth the money.

Stayed there for 2 years and had the most wonderful time ever. The place is very nice, the staff are very welcoming and nice, The place is really clean, providing an excellent value for money. The place is a bit shy when it comes to social amenities and entertainment activities but apart from that, It's perfect.

Year 3 student, been at this accommodation since year 1. Initially went for a flat, but the next year I took a studio since the price difference wasn't so bad. Best accommodation I have seen so far in Cardiff. The staff here are friendly and have always helped me with things as small as helping me carry groceries to my room or taking the items from my flat to the studio when I moved apartments. I also had great support over the pandemic, as I had to self-isolate a couple of times due to CoVid-19. Often if you go to reception, you can get some freebies and many smiles which always help when you are away from home. Overall amazing services and more come from what I hear, events, and entertainment. Come to Arofan; you will not regret it!! If you are here already, rebook for next year, its worth every penny, and no other accommodation is like this one :)
Decent place to live, while there are always people around to socialise with it is also quite enough to focus on my studies. Very good location, it's just 2 minutes walk from shops, restaurants and city centre. Very friendly staff that help with whatever you need, specially Mike and this new team they are all helpful. This is why it's my third year staying here.
Arofan possess a friendly environment and spacious rooms and studios with reasonable price compared to the other student accomodations.
Love the premium studio ! Well worth the money. Mike has been absolutely wonderful helping me with my parcels and maintenance issues. Wouldn’t recommend staying anywhere else in cardiff. Cant wait to rebook for next year !
Been Here 2 1/2 years and loved it so far! The location is fabulous, few minutes walk from town, located on city road, probably the best food street in Cardiff, as well as incredible leisure and service facilities. Room has always been fab! Never had anything to complain about, quick fixes from the maintenance team and security 24/7 never felt safer! Staff have been amazing so far! Always friendly and happy to help whenever! Especially Stewart, who welcomed me from Day 1, helping me settle in and helping out with all aspects Arofan. Dorian as well has been fab! Always helping me out! Justin always there for the night shift helping out. The new management led by Mike and Chris has been awesome so far! Looking forward to an exciting 2023 Having Rebooked for next year!

Very good private halls, friendly social staff that make you feel very welcome
I adore it here so much that I’ve rebooked for next year. The staff are so friendly and helpful and because it’s one of the smaller private ones it feels like a big family!! The rooms and the amenities are really good value for money and probably some of the best in Cardiff. Do yourself a favour and book here :)

It’s been super hard over lockdown but the team here have made it so much better! Lovely sociable accommodation, I’ve met the best people! A suggestion would be to add more study spaces and plan more socially distanced events!

I have lived at Arofan House for 4 years now and it has been the greatest experience ever. It truly feels like my home away from home. The staff are lovely, especially Lewis and Stewart - they are my favourite staff of all time - legends!

Great location, walking distance to town and easy access to bus routes! The staff are so friendly and helpful. I stayed here for the whole duration of my University course because I felt safe, known and made so many friends!

Arofan House is an amazing student accommodation. The location is perfect, it is only 10 minutes away from town. The on-site staff, especially the facilities assistants are amazing! They are so helpful, especially Lewis, Stewart and Joe. If there is anything that needs fixing or if you just want a chat, they provide a very comfortable family feel. I have loved living here! I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic university experience, all staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and would regularly go above and beyond to ensure that each and every resident received the maximum experience and enjoyment for their time here. The location is both safe and close to Cardiff City Centre, with the facilities being of the highest quality. The atmosphere is the perfect mix for enjoying uni life, whilst also being able to study for exams. Would recommend to anybody interested in coming to Cardiff for their further education.
