University of Brighton
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Good morning quality rooms and bathrooms but for £11000 for 9 months I wish they had given us a pillow at least. There were no bathroom bins or even oven trays which is not good. We need to buy everything ourselves and for this amount of money they could have provided that..The internet connection is alright but as soon as you get out it’s gone which is really bad. No smoking areas inside!!

From broken lifts to flooded rooms, Kaplan living Brighton is not the place to stay. I had a parcel worth roughly £80 which was delivered to Kaplan and I received an email being told to collect it or that it would soon been disposed of. I did not feel comfortable travelling to Brighton during a pandemic to collect it as it was not urgent. Then when I was trying to arrange for my parcel to be delivered, I was informed that it was no longer there. Months after leaving the residence, they have been constantly demanding me as well as other students for rent despite having paid previously. Some of our emails with regards to this situation have received no response. I was shocked when I called today and was told by the management that I do not owe. For £195 per week, me and some of my flatmates didn't have heating for the first month staying there! I have many friends who would agree that for the price you would just expect better honestly.
Expensive but very close to city campus. Its kinda annoying because rn there’s construction going on so we need to walk 2X the distance to go to uni. Its clean and the staff is friendly. The lift in Block E is a pain in the ass, always breaks.
This accommodation is the first site I have seen so close to the city of Brighton! I am so excited to be moving in sept 2019! I went for a viewing and the site is nearly finished and so far it looks amazing! I am so excited to be moving to Brighton and only be a 10 minutes to beach to sunbathe!
Clean and fun to live in last year
