Write a ReviewMy time studying on the Contact Lens Certificate course at Bradford College has been amazing from start to finish. The lecturers go above and beyond to give you everything that you need to feel prepared for your exams! The accessibility they provide with online resources is fantastic so you can always revisit topics. Not only that but they are always available for a chat if you are struggling with anything. Every lecturer had their own personal spin on lectures which made them actually entertaining compared to other places that just read a PowerPoint at you. I cannot recommend Bradford College enough when deciding which pathway to progress to becoming a Contact Lens Optician!

One day a week doing the contact lens certificate. I have found my experience at college great! The balance and work load of doing one day a week meant I am still able to work. The tutors Dean & Rob have been amazing throughout! I owe it too them both as I have got through my theory exams first time ! The tutors really spent time to ensure we were ready for our exams. I would 100% recommended this course/college to anyone thinking of progressing their career.
The university centre is a great place to study. HE have their own building and have access to college facilities. The support for HE students good. In particular, the Ophthalmic dispensing staff are very supportive and helpful. Despite covid interrupting our study, the staff have ensured we receive the best form of teaching online. Cannot comment on the career service as I have not used this. However, when approaching the Ophthalmic dispensing staff for career advice, they have always been honest and helpful in helping you make a decision. The course provides support for external ABDO exams as well as what to expect once qualified as a Dispensing Optician. The building and study rooms are nice.
I studied the BSc Ophthalmic Dispensing course. I was a little wary when I first started as it was an unfamiliar place and I did not know what to expect. I can honestly say I made the right decision picking this course. My tutors have been amazing and understanding especially with current situations. These Tutors have gone above and beyond in these troubling times! If you are considering this course or other HE courses I am certain you will recieve the support and education every student expects when starting! This review shows a little appreciation for my course tutors :)
This is my First time attending a college to study my Bsc(hons) Opthalmic dispensing as previously i studied for a year at the univeristy. I am amazed and proud to have met my tutors and friends during this time. The work ethic environment is motivated and very diffrent to the university, the lecturers provide good help. I would like to thank all my lecturers at bradford college for guiding me through my studies and helping me at times when needed. I enjoyed my time at bradford college and will miss it very much. I wish all the best to all those wanting to study here and no doubt will know that they will have a good support alongside them.
This is the second time I have studied at Bradford college. The first time was for my foundation degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing (in 2014). Then, I returned this year to 'Top Up' to a full degree; as I wanted to pursue a teaching qualification. The tutors welcomed me back and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Despite the COVID pandemic the level and quality of teaching has not been impacted, they adapted quickly and effectively which resulted in minimal disruption. The feedback/results from assignments/assessments were provided in a timely manor, often sooner than expected. The feedback has been detailed which has enabled me to improve each time. I cannot recommend Bradford College enough, especially the Ophthalmic Dispensing course. The tutors are amazing and incredibly supportive. Thankyou!
My experience with Bradford College studying BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing has been overwhelmingly positive. The teachers are supportive and want the best for their students!
The quality of education is questionable -only seminars and pointless discussions but no lectures or anything. They take a minimal effort to teach anything -you will be always told to study on your own plus teachers will complain that students don't do enough extra reading. Once you've paid you're on your own. Plus administration is hilariously dysfunctional - I finished in September 2019, we had a graduation comedy (oops I meant a ceremony) in November; however, our diplomas were not ready and we were advised to wait for further communication. It's January 2020, I already sent a complaint but the college is not answering to anything and I still don't have my diploma. Don't study there under any circumstances.
I'm studying at the university centre. The buildings are very nice, and they'll listen to you if you have any problems. For example, there was no blinders on the windows (which is huge, it's replacing the wall at one side of the classroom), so we sent an email to our course tutor, and a week later they fixed this issue by installing brand new nice looking blinds. We also argued about the noise in the open area classrooms, and now they actually started to build walls to make 3 seperate classroom in the open area, and it will be finished in January. Most of the teachers are very experienced, I just hope they will be staying, because the College is trying to save money by firing lecturers from the HE Computing dep. (It would be a huge loss for them to fire good teachers like Maroof, Matthew and Robert.) Btw, I also did my level 3 at this College. That was a mess. We didn't have teacher for nearly 5 months for one of the units. FE dep is very badly organised. But HE is impeccable A***
I'm on a BSc Computing course (awarded by the Uni of Bolton). The building is more then perfect, and they'll listen to your opinions. The lecturers are very nice and helpful. Most of them are very experienced and spent 15-20 years in the industry before they decided to become a teacher. The course structure is very well organised.
Personally I wouldn't recommend this college at all. The campus is great and offers many facilities such as cafes, library and a friendly environment. But the teaching was low standard many days tutors were absent, there was a strike or some other disruption in the lesson. Few students also had lesson clashes which kept going on for about a month. This meant they lost plenty of time because of this disorganised system and therefore had to do independent study. Most of the times there were no cover lessons when the tutor was absent. Overall its not bad but the college should spend more on improving teaching quality and staff then wasting money on buildings.
