Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
My experience in the Standard Plus accommodation was good, the room was a decent size but I think slightly pricey in comparison to other universities. However, during covid-19 in 2020, the university allowed the students to break the accommodation contract early by moving out, so we could shelter at home and save money. This was such a relief.

This hall desperately needs updating. Close to campus and a short walk from town, but this doesn’t make up for the poor quality of the kitchen and living area.
Great, funny, clean, amazing staff and brilliant location
amazing value for money, close to other hall buildings, social is fantastic, keep it clean
Good living area and facilities at price
Antisocial and not worth the money - expensive for low standards v non-uni accommodation
This was the best year of my life! We have all become like one big massive family: everyone knows each other and our doors are always open. We all do things together every night even if it is a movie night in flat 6 or pre drinks in flat 1. I would never have picked anywhere else.
Best year of my life, great people and great living space. Berrow has to be the best hall on all of campus
Decent hall, good furnishing and not bad if you make friends with all the other flats inside the hall. probably needs a refurbish soon but i would recommend to any new freshers.
On top of being too expensive for what it really is (flats with individual rooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen with one small fridge for 6 people), my social experience was horrible, people drinking every night, coming back at 3 or 4 in the AM pounding at my door for no reason and left the corridor and communal areas in horrifying conditions, splattered apples thrown against the wall and alcohol and vomit sticking to the floor. Thanks University of Worcester, for my "home away from home".
I guess it would be good if I liked the people I live with...
Amazing! Great people great place! The rooms were good! Cleaner was terrible though!
Feel like I should have saved money and gone with the standard not that much difference in quality and seems like a more social bunch living in the standard rather than standard plus!
It would have been more worth the money is the cleaners bothered to actually do something like they're payed to. But the hall was great for socials
Good social experience, better value for money than other buildings.
Colour of feature walls in common room and bedrooms is a questionable bright orange! The cleaner does very little, sometimes nothing.
bold orange walls but really good location, and pretty good overall. Cleaner doesn't do much.
It's alright, one of the better standard plus halls, most recently renovated
A fine hall, but everything kept breaking. Once the oven broke over the weekend and no one would come out at the weekend, then the shower flooded and security blamed it on us and said we had to deal with it but the maintenance men then told us we should have left it alone! An ok hall, had a good time there overall.
I have lived here with 20 other people from my course in 4 flats, we have a reputation for fun go-ers and everyone on campus knows Abberley as the best halls out there
Not the best facilities - better than traditional though. Things are fixed / repaired quickly and met some amazing people who make up for all the bad things.
2 bathrooms between 6 people which was great to spilt boys and girls. Good sized kitchen with lots of fridge and freezer space. Great social life with 3 other flats of 6. Not too big yet enough people to become friends with
Lovely place to live, room size is good
It's very expensive for not much, unlimited bills, yes. But it doesn't justify the price of it however the experience was fantastic. I wouldn't change that. Although the common room could have been more like a living room
Could be better, could be worse.
Good location with a "homey" feel.
Best halls ever to live in, the sink in your room gets very handy
I had a really special experience in Malvern. We were all very close as a block of flats and it was a great hall to live in. while I was in first year I went to other halls to see other friends and I always still loved Malvern Halls, even more than the most expensive accommodation !
Noisy, antisocial, frat house. Faulty window frames. Mice in the communal area. Little to no cleaning.
Good sized rooms and comfy beds. Needed some decorating and upkeep around the showers and window sills. Good sized kitchen and living room area.
It is a really noisy hall, you can hear everything trough the walls, the rooms are small, the internet goes at 3mbs at best, the alarm sounded every Tuesday morning, it smell like beer and pee, (probably because of students) the beds were uncomfortable, and you for the price 111£ a week at the time, (I think they have raise it now) it's really low value what you get, you can get better houses just outside campus for 80£ with much better internet, much better beds, less noise, larger rooms, and no beer smell and no f****** alarms.
