I have been loving my time at the Student Space. The team couldn't be more helpful from answering all my questions pre arrival to helping me with my luggage on move in weekend and being super supportive throughout my first month. The team put on really fun events including yoga, movie nights and games nights which has really helped me settle in. The building itself is amazing with multiple social spaces including a library, dining space, gym and a large social space. My room has a ton of storage and has everything I need. I was a bit worried before I moved in about the location but it hasn't been an issue and I can use the shuttle service should there be any bad weather. Overall I can't recommend the student space enough and the team are brilliant!

Student Space Biography
Student Space is within easy reach of St. Andrews University, and a mere twenty-minute walk from the centre of St Andrews.
Get to know your neighbours by joining one of the on-campus events, and hang out in the Social Hub common room, outdoor space, gardens, private dining, and kitchen space. When it’s time to get work done students can make use of the WiFi, library study room and study pods. Break a sweat and let off some steam in the 24-hour onsite gym. All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Had nothing but problems since moving in. Constant water problems including flooding, water being off and there being no hot water. Sure the place looks nice but the rooms lack basic functionality. The whole place wasn’t completed on time so we were moved into an unfinished flat that meant we constantly had people in to fix things and are still having problems months into staying here. Internet is unreliable and as a computer science student it’s a problem. PlayStations are unplayable on the wifi and it takes days to download games. When we had a flood they got people from Glasgow to fix it, same with other issues which meant the flooding began at 11 and the Plummer was in our room until 9pm. Staying here has affected our studying, I’ve got to miss a tutorial today due to there being no hot water and no communication about this problem. I could go on and on forever about the problems and would not recommend.

We would like to address the water issues. The interruption you experienced was unfortunately due to an accidental water shutdown by Scottish Water, which was beyond our control. This affected the water supply to the whole building, and surrounding areas, and was fixed as quickly as Sottish water could. The hot water issue was related to a boiler fault on our side, and we fully acknowledge the inconvenience this caused. We acted as quickly as possible to get this resolved and would like to apologise for any disruption caused. Communication was sent out to all residents to inform them of this issue, but if you did not receive the update, we sincerely apologise and would be happy to check that we have the correct contact details for you. In regard to the building itself, while the property was finished on schedule, we acknowledge that, like with any new build, there have been some snagging issues that we have been working through. We believed these are now resolved, but if there are still outstanding matters in your flat, please do come down to reception to let us know. We are committed to addressing any remaining issues as quickly as possible to ensure you have the best living experience. With respect to the internet, we’ve had very positive feedback overall and no other complaints about the connectivity. However, we do take your concerns seriously and would like to investigate the issue further. If you could kindly visit reception to provide us with more details, we will ensure that the matter is addressed as soon as possible. We understand how important reliable internet access is, especially for students, and we are committed to resolving this issue for you. SPACE is a wonderful place to live at! From the beginning, the staff have been nothing but helpful and flexible. In terms of the facilities, the rooms are modern and it is obvious that the team worked hard to create a place that serves students needs (I.e game area, laundry room, and gym). I will also mention that the staff cares for the students, setting up weekly yoga sessions, pt training, games and movie nights, and other festivities. The best part is that they are just getting started. One final comment, I only put four stars on locations because I know to some SPACE may be far from the city center. However, if you like walking, as I do, it's wonderful! There are two grocery markets that are really close as well, SPACE also offers shuttle rides into the city, which are cheaper than city bus fares. P

Worth the money. Fantastic study space and large TV. Very good team here. It would be better if the shuttle could be free, as it is indeed a bit far from the town centre.

I am an international student, and the staff has been extremely corporative and helpful through the entire process. They have been able to solve all the issues I've faced pre and post arrival, even . The social spaces and gyms are well equipped. There are various social events. The rooms are very well designed. The site is always kept clean. There are several safety measures kept in place. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone planning to study in St Andrews.

As a new student in St Andrew’s, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The booking process is quite convenient with the staff wading very helpful the whole way through. The studio room is quite spacious and all the furniture and appliances are newly fitted. It can be a bit expensive but for what you receive, it’s well justified. The gym, common areas, study spaces are modern, well equipped and a great place to meet people and make new friends. The shuttle bus service is very convenient to get into town center and out so the distance isn’t really a bother and the walk back isn’t too long either. All the staff are friendly, supportive, welcoming and there for you all day long. Plus you get discounts on multiple venues in town including the Vic so definitely can’t complain!

While you pay a lot in comparison to other accommodations. I have been in accommodations asking for somewhat less but not even getting half of what you get here. The facility is gorgeous! There are huge common rooms to relax and play games in, as well as a large study space and the ability to book a private room for group study sessions. The building also has its own gym, a direct shuttle bus to town, and 24 hour security. The staff are extremely friendly and even help connect you to local venues where you can get a part time job and since the beginning have been implementing events for students to get to know eachother. I also appreciate how efficient the laundry room is and you pay only 1.20 to wash (most accommodations you’re paying £3+). The studios are stunning and are quite literally made conveniently so that you have all the space you could possibly need. I also think it’s great that you can do shared apartments which are equally beautiful. Overall very happy student here.

Unbelievable service— the employees know us by name, are helpful 24/7, and go above and beyond to help students and make us comfortable. There are a lot of cool social events and there are often goodies provided. The place is literally spotless and there are many amenities: a gym, an awesome study area, hangout space, laundry room, private study rooms. Feels very safe and welcoming. The rooms are very modern and nice. Doesn’t even compare to any other student housing. I guess the only con is it’s a bit further from town, but they have provided students with a shuttle. Highly, highly recommend.

The customer service has been amazing. Before I arrived, Thomas answered all of my questions by email promptly and with super useful information. Caroline both was amazing to help put myself and my parents at ease when I moved in, and has been a warm and welcoming presence in reception. All the team have constantly been available to provide help, or even just a quick greeting as I come back or leave each morning.
