My stay at the Old Mill was cut short by Covid, but it was ideal for me as a research student at the University of St Andrews. Dundee is a bustling, lively city with tonnes of things to do and excellent transport links to anywhere in Scotland and the rest of the UK by bus and rail. The Old Mill itself is in the centre of town beside all the main Dundee university buildings and is really well kept. The staff are AMAZING and treat their tenants extremely well, better than any porters or wardens I've had in any University run halls. While the stair case up to the upper floor flats are a bit of a killer, the flats themselves are spacious, full of storage spaces and have really lovely windows that look out over Dundee. Unfortunately, I never got to enjoy any of the Old Mill's wider social facilities due to Covid, but I am sure in brighter times they would have been a real delight and really added to its community atmosphere. I would 100% recommend others to live in Dundee's Old Mill!

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Had been in Old Mill since end of October 2021.Location wise very good .Rent is also reasonable even if not on the moderate side .However the current deputed manager at the site is very rude and aggressive.Have minimum dignity for the students and his communications appears to be as if he is dealing with asylum seakers or prisoners and not with a tenant who has entered the agreement in a same capacity.Have minimum legal sense but tries to impose himself legally through his immatured usage of legal words /terms without knowing the consequences of same. Encourages students to consume food products and drinks beyond best before dates printed on the product, by providing them free in the name of charity- supplied and if you question him , be ready to face repurcussions from him in some way or the other. I am an Advocate by profession over a decade and have taken out time to study hence aware of the laws.

Okay accomodation, a bit on the pricey side for what is offered, but the new management is trying their best. They have a weird relationship with masks, as they demand everyone to wear them - which is cool - but then don't wear them themselves during inspections. Huh.
