I moved to Hartpury as an international student who was going to attend the football BTEC course, the football within the collage is atrocious nothing near to what was advertised, the sessions are overcrowded meaning 100 players plus with 5 staff members(none of them being proper coaches), and the sessions are repeated all year long, in addition to favouritism from the collage regarding players who they had chosen for the first team and not fairly integrated the rest of the players into the football system, meaning the 20 players within the first team get all provisions(physios ,gym etc) and the rest are left with nothing in an endless cycle, I decided to stop after the first year as I was progressively getting worse as a result of the sessions, to which most second years followed by then end of the year, in addition to facilities and services such as physio etc which had been promised being declined to myself when I needed it or wanted to use it the collage residential staff-(pt1)
Accommodation onsite is prison-like, depressing and expensive. The location in terms of being on site and close to lectures is the only benefit, if you are big on going out, the buses only run every hour and you can miss the last bus into town. On the weekends the buses also stop early and a taxi can cost £15-20 each way. If you have any maintenance issues expect a long wait to have it sorted out. The rooms are not the cleanest when you arrive and I had my sanitary bin full from the previous years when I arrived. If you are not staying in the plus blocks the kitchens are tiny and not really suitable for socialising for long periods. In my experience I have seen 1 or 2 parties in blocks which have both been shut down due to noise complaints, fire alarms going off etc. If you are reading this and want a social life stay off site at BLACKFRAIRS accommodation it is 10x better I spent 70% of my year there at my friends whilst paying for the Limbury halls which I did not use.

A wonderful community of people that you won't find on a bigger campus uni. That's where most of the charm wears off. You'll find that many of the sports lecturers are not overly experienced themselves. Then there are the facilities. The new sports facilities are lovely however if you look at other unis within 45 mins you'll see that the Hartpury facilities are about a decade behind. The careers service is LOL I never encountered them in my 3 years and the majority of those that were on my degree have had to find work in the service industry because contrary to what we were told. There isn't any work out there. Great uni if you just want to go for a laugh and play some rugby or footty. They will be happy to take your 30k and wave you off.
the facilities at Hartpury are excellent. The lectures are very engaging and the lecturers are really friendly.
An amazing place to study - I loved it so much
Hartpury is a great university which opens up prospects for any student who is willing to work hard. I've had so many opportunities because of Hartpury and their industry links are invaluable. The teaching and wellbeing support is great and you are able to get to know your lecturers and approach them if you are struggling. The things that could be better are the accommodation and amount of clubs and societies.
The facilities are amazing, you have the opportunity to use everything if you get involved. You can even get involved with some of the other business' that are onsite, I've volunteered with the Equine Therapy Centre and there are opportunities to work in the equine events office over the summer. The SU runs loads of events throughout the year including, freshers fair/week, refreshers week and Summer/Winter ball. There are a lot of societies, I've loved being part of the Hockey team and Equestrian Club. Hartpury offers career advice and helps with exam prep and assignment writing during the year. There is always someone to help with job applications and CV writing.
Mental health support rubbish! Would not recommend!
Uni students don’t get a kitchen, nothing to do on campus unless your a sport or equine person, not enough car parking place, hardly any service and will need a car to get around
Good uni just needs better facilities and most definitely better WiFi
Love it here! For a small university it still manages to give students a real university feeling unlike many small equine unis. Wouldn't be anywhere else
Was at hartpury for 2 years to study horse management. Felt like they taught me a variety of subjects that I now use in my daily life. This was also a business option which gave me a chance to learn about different important aspects to consider when starting your own business. Put clubs down as 1 star as never got involved in any, but overall I had a great time and hartpury and learnt lots; If I was more sure that I wanted to follow a career in horses I would’ve carried on here as I genuinely feel like they would be the best option for myself
All the staff are very supportive to the student
Very friendly, accepting place of study.
Amazing, warming, open, friendly, it was my second open day and I had decided already
Great uni with friendly, helpful and warm staff
The use of wardans on site 24/7 is extremely helpful and helps me to feel safe!
Hartpury university has really good sports facilities.
Nice staff, gorgeous campus if you like outdoor spaces. Not run as well as I thought it would be in comparison to the college, my tutor takes a week to reply to emails and it feels like I don’t do much work. Full time course although I’m literally here for two and a half days a week. Sports lectures are lovely.
I am really enjoying my time at Hartpury University. The facilities are fantastic, especially the equine facilities and the new Sports Academy building. And to top it off, Hartpury has just opened a new student lounge for with everything from TVs, beanbags, couched, private rooms and even treadmills fitted with desks. The staff are very friendly and with being at a smaller scale Uni, you really get to meet and become friends with almost everyone.
Excellent quality of staff, some better than others which is due to lack of experience
Once you settle in to hartpury and get to know where everything is, it’s great, but before then there isn’t much help getting you places. The individual rooms in halls are pretty nice but the communal areas leave much to be desired. Flats of up to ten people have only six seats in the kitchen in a horrible bench, not enough cupboards or fridge/freezer space. There aren’t many clubs/societies and they do not get much advertising. The students union don’t seem to do much and they’re all quite hard to get hold of. Careers service are great, they’re always on hand to help with applying for jobs, working out what you want to do with your life, writing CV’s all sorts. Internet in rooms is pretty rubbish but in the library/ study areas there’s never a problem! Even though some of the facilities aren’t great, the three years I spent at Hartpury we’re so much fun, the lecturers are fantastic, many of them being the best in their fields.
Amazing facilities amazing lecturers that develop more than your knowkedge. They are with times and understand placement is important
So, in a nutshell, this is an outstanding university, highly regarded for its sporting, equestrian and agricultural education, but it’s downfall is how money is used and the accommodation on site, for such a high standard university you would have thought that the accommodation block would Be of the same standard but no, it’s basic at best, with plain white walls and semi functioning kitchen appliances, it does drag. Another problem is the car parking facilities the main car park is way too small to accommodate the residential and non residential students and therefore people have to park in spaces that are not allocated as spaces, the general feel of Hartpury is warm and the community is strong but the facilities and student opportunities are poor meaning that you pretty much have nothing to do. All in all a great university, full of culture and education, but for the student that is also looking to explore and expand their interests, it’s not as good as you think.
best place in the world for equestrian facilites, supports and facilitates elite sport alongside higher education, country life with a touch of the city, great for an outdoorsy person with a love of animals and rugby !
Amazing campus and great lecturers, the societies and other social bits could be improved though
Very warm and positive feeling around campus and during lectures, communication between students and staff is wonderful, if I ever have anything to ask I always have access to staff emails, all which usually respond the same day. Very beautiful facilities and a variety of activities to do! Wednesday animal activities to sign up to are wonderful, my favourite has been the calf management. Hartpury encourages students to get hands on experience and push students to meet their goals. Overall, an absolutely amazing university!
Overall great campus, sometimes can be a pain with the location, due to not having a car
