A pleasant and good place to live as an international student.
Callum in the office is wonderful and is always a pleasure to talk to, always helpful too. All issues are also sorted very promptly
Except from the location which is close to the campus I'm studying at there's literally nothing good about this place. Furnitures, doors and anything else constantly stops working and they take ages for that. Laundry machines never working and they literally eat students money. If you have any complaints to do you go through several procedures and nobody actually cares to solve the problem. I literally pay 648£ for this place, these people are getting paid and still not doing their jobs . Is literally a very very bad experience for me.
I had taken BA sociology , Lecturers were not supportive and had taken 2-3 weeks to respond to emails , work was not marked on time , lectures had no structure and was not organised properly when doing research projects . the campus itself is lovely and the facilities themselves are great but the majority of those within the sociology department do not meet students needs which brought my grades down massively because of lack of communication and lack of support with assignments
The campus is styled more like a collage than a real university, with limited seating and plugs available for lecture rooms which are poorly designed for their intended purpose. The rooms, such as SC-161, are far too long, meaning that anybody at the wrong end of the classroom cannot hear or see anything being taught. There is not enough parking either, with the university resorting to making an overflow on the grass verges by the main entrance. Despite clearly not being capable of handling the number of students they have, the university also wants to return to in-person lessons, seemingly ignoring the fact that public transport and accommodation are tough to come across outside of the town itself. The SU effectively does not exist on Oxstalls campus; there is nothing on offer unless you're into sports. Every other group is dead or dying, and despite messaging the outdoorsy societies, they didn't even reply, so why would I want to join them?
Lecturers are snide and unhelpful. Had a very bad period mentally, but all the lecturer could comment on was my lateness. The lecturer thought I was on my phone and called me out in front of everyone, instead of dealing with it maturely and talking to me about it after lectures. I would expect this in secondary but not at university. Lessons are unengaging and unnecessary, with everything that I have been taught I have learned already within clinical practice.

Been a good university experience overall but feel like socials that aren't for sports groups need more attention

The university of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham is a great uni to go to after A-Levels and college. The facilities are very accessible to use at night and in the day. The lecturers are very friendly on my course and extremely helpful when it comes to help or questions about the work that we have to complete. My campus, Park Campus, is very pretty and spacious. It is a very chilled environment in and around the university and having the library 24/7 is extremely helpful, though sometimes certain parts are difficult and won't be able to be completed when theirs staff in the library. But all in all I would recommend it as a first time Uni or for masters as the environment is calming and productive.

University of Gloucestershire offers many student job roles in the university along with promoting jobs that would fit a student schedule for those who needs help finding one. They have a good program that helps look for opportunities for after uni and job help. They have a range of societies, clubs and activities that allow you to socialise, meet new people. Especially in first year. However, in an art course, I find the facilities such as needed resources are not there. We don't even have a lecture room and sometimes spend the first 10-15 mins searching for one. Although they promote jobs etc, they don't take in consideration that people may need to work to afford rent and food and so constantly brings it up of marks them down for it but then also wants them to attend expenses trips along with extra curriculum activities like viewing and visiting art facilities

Good university, effectively covering a range of subjects and educating a whole range of people from all backgrounds.
Gloucester University is a great balance of work and student life, with the university setting out a clear goal of helping students get to where they want to be after they graduate. Helpzones have helped me with studying and careers advice, and the course is both fun and informative.
very average university, SU lacks any decent events the clubs mostly run them themselves. likewise with the sports teams mostly organising their own events rather than anything fun or themed by the SU. gym facility on site is rubbish, labs are good for sports courses, library is pretty standard. can't really say anything stands out about the university
For my course I am very lucky to have lecturers that have experienced a job in journalism before becoming a teacher. They are wonderfully educated on not only the the course content, but also more practical sides of the course and journalism as a career. However the University fails when it comes to holding people accountable for their threatening behaviour and also somewhat mental health, as this is where for me I have been let down the most.
Lovely and thorough lecturers. I have never felt so supported. Some building are nicer than others but they are working hard to do it up. Good but small choice of societies.

Cos I suffer from anxiety I have yet to make the most of trying what is available here so it's not my place to rate the clubs/societies etc which is why I've stuck em down as 4. I do love the university though; the campus looks absolutely amazing, and because it's a smaller uni, it's quite relaxed here- much less intimidating than a big uni. Enjoying my course so far, and learning a ton- small classes makes it more bearable (anxiety) and the lecturers are cool. I believe I made the right choice coming here- everything about the uni suggests the people care about you as an individual, and so far I've been treated as an equal (no dirty looks or comments at me being brown!).
Lectures no support what so ever! Coming here will be the worst decision of your life. Me and my friend was forced to pay, accommodation fees when we both moved out. Every other university did not charge. The communication regarding Covid-19 was nonexistent. Save your Money don’t bother applying they are good at marketing that’s about it.
The facilities and wifi are great other than that there is not much else going on or much effecient help provided to students.
During my first year, Freshers period was amazing, and I got offered a lot of support from the university itself when I moved in. However moving further into the year I have noticed that a lot of events announced by the student union, Like simple movie nights, have never happened. Internet is great, there are patchy areas in halls, and I wish I could connect more than 1 device to the ethernet. Societies offered are amazing, and so are the facilities, Especially the 24hour library offered.
A good university with a lot of focus on gaining employment afterwards. Good industry links, and excellent facilities for photography and media based subjects.
Barely any support when you fall behind in lectures, half the history you get taught is incorrect, lecturers will happily just put on a video to watch and sit back and relax.
Nice but small campus at Francis Close Hall. Not much going on and only a few areas with seating to choose from. The staff are friendly most of the time but the lectures are 3 hours long when the content could be taught within 2 hours. Strong focus on their own research from some of the lecturers meaning we don’t get a well rounded view of the literature out there. Fine as I’m only doing a 1 year masters but I’m glad I wasn’t here for undergrad to be honest.

Great student and disability support
I graduated from the University of Gloucestershire last year and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Overall the university was ran very well and felt like a community. The SU bar was excellent in first year but soon went down hill and was usually deserted as the university struggled for money (I think).
Good facilities and lovely staff. FCH campus is beautiful. SU exec however seem distant and their are few active societies, particularly ones not sports related.
The lack of support is disgusting, and course is dull. Don’t even bother with help zone, it will take you days to get in touch with them and even after that no help
Lecturers and facilities make it easy (most of the time) to get done what needs to be done and explain it in such a way that people can understand it despite how they learn. Lots of the lecturers use graphics and visual demos which helps to visualise what needs to be done. Internet connection is great, covers the whole campus and is quick enough for most situations.
Very good and very good facilities for sport and other sunjects.
UoG is a great place to study as it offers a range of opportunities that I wouldn’t be offered anywhere else, such as the 10 year help after graduation
Lack of supportive and useful staff. When I went to 'help zone' for assistance because I was stressed they basically told me there was nothing they could without me being diagnosed with something or being pregnant. The course left me with no spare time for work experience alongside my studies, so now trying to get a job is more or less impossible.
It was an okay uni, the Drama course just very much got neglected. The social life is fairly decent though.

An incredible campus (park) loads of facilities 3d printing, letter press, screen printing and so much more. Studying graphic design had been an absolute joy and the lectures are so knowledgeable.

The worst thing I ever did in my life was to attend this university it is unorganised chaos white rude and useless staff they wouldn’t send the form so I could officially complain and lied to student finance that I had been there 4 full years so I was denied funding to go elsewhere

This uni is extremely sports centred when it comes to societies. If you love sports come here, if you done then don’t! I know lots of people who are disappointed in their course and want to drop out and some have. The things the uni promise in the prospectus and what they say on open days is in my experience a lie. I personally would advise you to choose a different uni.
Really beautiful campus with enough IT facilitates and books. Quite good selection of different societies that actually really engage with students.

The University Of Gloucestershire is the best Uni to go to in my opinion, especially if you’re thinking of studying sport! They have top of the range facilities that you won’t get at any other University! The lecturers are helpful and are always there when you need help. The modules are interesting and there are plenty of opportunities to help make up surly more employable after graduating. They offer so many free courses to do alongside your degree that are great to put in your CV!
I love this university because they don't sugar coat anything! They are truthful, helpful and definitely have met the most amazing people to work with! Lectures know your names and care about every individual. I've learnt so much in 2 months and already feel very comfortable! And even after you leave you get support for an extra 10 year! Just brilliant
Course was changed multiple times after we signed our student contract, got tricked into a course
The campus I went to didn’t feel as thought it had enough room to handle the amount of students it had. There were never spare rooms, not enough computers or tables. Getting hold of some lecturers proved near impossible. The best feature was the help hub, who when I needed them supported me really well. Everyone lives around FCH, but most of the activities were at Cheltenham and the sports clubs were held at Gloucester which, when getting the bus was a bit inconvenient... Felt a bit out of place at my sports social as they forced people to drink too much on nights out, then if you never went to sport social they used to have a go at you for it. (Never went because they weren’t fun and too intense for me personally).
Really good lecturers, world class facilities and lovely architectural campus’, had a fantastic 3 years here.

I think the campus is really pretty, especially with the leaves on the teaching centre building in autumn. I’m not really involved in any clubs or societies so I can’t really comment on that. The WiFi is a bit dodgy sometimes. The facilities are really good - but I think the refectory could be made a little nicer and more environmentally friendly. The careers team and services are amazing and they will continue to help and support you even after you graduate.
Amazing university, that feels just like home.
It would be a 5 star if we had an on-site theatre at Oxstalls and if we had toilets in the PFA building.
My experience at university has been incredible. I feel the university goes above and beyond in supporting students especially with the Helpzone and Your Future Plan being around. They really make the university unique and ensure the success of students throughout the university with advice and guidance around any problems students may face. All our lecturers are very knowledgeable in their subject areas and provide only the best information for the modules and starting a career after degrees. I found the accommodation very nice and the schemes the university has in place such as Pittville Patrol helps keep students safe as well as supports the community!

The facilities themselves, whether it the libraries or the student help centre, are second to none. Even the system for tutorials is brilliant. However, there is a total lack of politics on campus and, perhaps as a result(?) the campus is a cultural wasteland. Nothing but sports societies abound. That is it.
I’ve only been here two weeks but everyone has gone out of their way to make my transition as easy as possible. The lecturers are enthusiastic and make a conscious effort to develop relationships with their students. The library is well equipped and easy to access, and with 24/7 availability it makes learning that bit easier. The campus is like Mary Poppins’ bag, it looks small and quaint from outside but inside is a series of lecture rooms and seminar rooms that make the most of the gorgeous building.
After moving over from Northern Ireland I was very nervous and scared but the staff at the university are amazing and really helped me to settle in easily.

Staff are great, campus is, for the most part, lovely, plenty of societies and it's not far from the town. However the WiFi is Eduroam so say goodbye to online console gaming

I have the best time at Gloucestershire university. All the staff are amazing, which allows me to get all of the help I need. You really do feel like an individual and not just a number amongst the rest of the students. I’ve met life long friends and can’t wait to spend the rest of my degree here. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
