Great lecturers, good SUs, lots of societies, good night life, green university.
Brilliant university with fantastic sports clubs and societies
I would definitely recommend University of Gloucestershire to anyone considering attending. The university has a very friendly atmosphere, the facilities are well maintained and the support available for all students is outstanding.
Love my university, very accommodating to all students and staff and strive to achieve the highest standards of higher education.
Great campus, staff, societies and facilities
Great uni with a strong students union and a really great vibe and attitude towards clubs/societies. Especially the likes of netball, rugby and football.
Oxstalls campus is getting better and better. Best sports and exercise staff around due to how much they offer to help and assist you through your studies. Really community like atmosphere on campus and wouldn’t change a thing!
I have the best time at Gloucestershire university. All the staff are amazing, which allows me to get all of the help I need. You really do feel like an individual and not just a number amongst the rest of the students. I’ve met life long friends and can’t wait to spend the rest of my degree here. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Uni is ok but not a lot of support
My experience has been pretty good this year. I made use of a careers guidance meeting, which was very helpful. The lecturers and my personal tutor on my course are always willing to help.
friendly staff and the facilities are brilliant and very appropriate for students.
Lovely environment and staff but more work could be done with the SU to engage more with students
It has offered me unbelievable opportunities and I will be devastated to leave
Lectures are all so passionate about what they are teaching and are all so helpful with coursework and exams. Any problems to do with; work load, future jobs, volunteering on the side or any personal issues, they are always happy to help with them.
Lecturers are really knowledgeable and helpful. However, the students union do not have big presence
Lecturers are very helpful and encouraging. Campus and facilities are great.
This uni definitely needs some work on the way it handles certain situations, but overall it’s a lovely, friendly and not too stressful uni
Fantastic and consistent support for students, great relationship between staff and students, brilliant opportunities for internships and societies and student friendly events in local towns
All of the good qualities for choosing the university are no longer applicable. I chose the university for being a small campus with lots of support, however none of these apply anymore. It's expanding in all the wrong ways. Being split across Gloucester and Cheltenham, is very annoying as everything seems to be happening in Cheltenham which makes you feel left out at Gloucester. I would never recommend a friend to go hear. For example for one of the stupid mistakes they made on our placemmt year was to send an email to our entire class to say we had failed, we didn't recieve and apology given it was the students that brought it up just another email to say ignore the message you may receive another one. Appalling all round.
Okay university. Not enough financial support so I had to work throughout the course of my degree.
Great university with fantastic staff. Everyone is always helpful and try to get the best out of you
Unis alright like the campus and such. Lots of societies to join.
Imagine signing up to a course and being promised loads and then having it all taken away in your final year...lol.
Incredible uni, amazing staff and campus, there’s support there if you need it, honestly they can’t do enough for the students
Good facilities and social side. But advice from lectures is lacking, or career advice. But this could depend on the course. I had a minor disability and I didn’t receive the help I needed which made it hard for me.
Loved my first 2 years there! The new business school is amazing
I studied a BA in Illustration, the facilities were great and the staff were incredible. You really felt at home and they were always available to help and give advice. I would recommend this course and the university.
The University offers fantastic lecturers, help and opportunities. However, they do little to involve themselves with student life.
The FCH campus is a beautiful setting in which to feel inspired. The lecturers (Creative Writing) are brilliant at what they do and teach with such enthusiasm and passion for their subject. I’ve found the ‘Your Future Plan’ team very helpful in preparing me for work after uni, during my studies. An all-round positive place to learn, with an abundance of opportunities to grow.
I went here for my three years and loved it. Staff were always do welcoming and helpful. Lectures were interesting and related to assessments
I was placed far away from my campus (park) which meant my social experience wasn’t very good. I wasn’t interested in any of the societies and I felt my overall experience was boring.
Very little support with work or personal. Course (popular music) also gave no support and didn't really seem to care about how you did. Asked for a remark and didn't even receive an email back from the module tutor. Poor overall.
Loved it. Very good support and many opportunities for gaining skills and experience to enhance CV. Interesting research, supportive lecturers, good class sizes, beautiful campus.
I loved my time at this university and found that it allowed me to have an enjoyable uni experience
Love the course and the people! Very happy I’m at this uni
Amazing Experience and could have asked for anymore support!
The overall experience studying in this university for almost 3 years has been great and am satisfied with the guidance and help from tutors and staffs from the help zone. In terms of further development regarding the facilities of this institution, a free bus-pass is to be provided for each student to easily access their journey from Cheltenham to Gloucester.
I lived on Campus and it was a great atmosphere, all the staff/ union were really helpful.
a uni of staff that actually enjoy their jobs and put 110% into everything they do. Thorough care for their students and what will happen after graduating and always there when you need them.
Decent university, wouldn’t go here again
The new business school is great, the SU could be better at Oxstalls (more drink options? More entertainment?) Can't really comment on the other campus' though
Such a great uni! So supportive and full of friendly, knowledgeable staff! Great prospects for after uni also!
As a soon to be second year student at the University, I am loving my course and have always got access to the resources I need to write my assignments to the best of my ability. The university also has a fantastic welfare team to help with non academic and academic concerns and difficulties. Couldn't have chosen a more supportive, friendly and facilitating university.
An amazing University with inspiring staff who are motivated to help you in any way you need private or study related. This is especially prevelant in the Religion, Philosophy and Ethics department as they do care about the students and will let you arrange as many 1 to 1 sessions as you want.
Great lectures that are enthusiastic, and helpful. Good career service, with useful advice and guidance. Poor facilities and activities, few trips, few opportunities, no bars open on campus throughout year, changes made without student consolidation.
A well rounded university with a wide range of sports and courses to chose from
Very nice university, with great set of courses and curriculum and good equipment
A great uni for academics but really bad on the community and social side, not many societies and the societies that are there end up shutting down
There wasn’t a lot to get involved in. Class sizes were very small and so were the campuses. There weren’t many opportunities to make friends. The lecturers were very nice and intelligent but things were badly organised and run and so relationships with lecturers were sometimes strained
Great university, very lenient to the fact I work full time and full time studying! Lectures are interesting and assignments give you freedom to research what interests you!
A great university that improves year on year but still could do a bit more for the paying student.
The facilities could be improved. For example a microwave and more seats as the refectory gets full very quickly. The internet is terrible and only a few apps will work on it. If you need to use WhatsApp you have to use your own data.
I immediately fell in love with the university of Gloucestershire due to it’s magical Hogwarts feel. The staff are supportive and you are treated like an individual rather than just a number or a statistic. I got a job immediately after studying my degree as the university is valued highly by the community.
Love the new renovations on the campus, the new student village at Pittville was great too! So thankful for my course, I would hate to be doing loads of exams, so the coursework is a lifesaver!
The lecturers are fantastic, as are all facilities and equipment available to us.
The university of Gloucestershire has helped me complete my degree, all the lecturers were amazing and always happy to help!
Calm atmosphere, relaxed approach and healthy community.
Excellent start, but going down hill.
Heading into my second year, the university has helped me develop in so many ways and I am really enjoying my time
It has been a great experience so far. I'm entering my final year at the university and I don't want it to end.
Strong teaching team for Social Sciences. Encouraging staff. Great support in place for additional needs
Completed first year and had the most amazing time! Really throws you into adulthood and allows you to make new friends and find new beginnings. Everyone is so friendly and helpful at the university of Gloucestershire
The university is great for its support given to dyslexic students. I have had the best experience there
No help. The accommodation is old fashioned, as are the lecturers. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
The University of Gloucestershire has been amazing at supporting me throughout my studies academically and personally. Definitely found a home at UOG.
Educationally the university is good. But is not good for external activity
Never really spoke with anyone at the union. The careers team are only helpful when it comes to things they know. They lack in skills mostly in the media area where none of my class botherd to use them. Nice uni.
Not much support from lecturers when needed, some important issues were brushed off and forgotten about. Mess with dissertation ethics, not enough support and guidance throughout, similar with the dissertation itself. Very stressful second year, felt like a guinea pig.
I honestly had the best time at uni! All the staff are so friendly and the course was amazing. The facilities on offer at this uni were amazing, particularly the helpzone where you could go for advice and support. I can’t speak highly enough for this uni and the staff. I am very sad to have finished my uni experience but it is one I will never forget and I have made friends for life!
As soon as I set foot in UoG on an open day I knew it was the place for me. Amazing staff and facilities as well as opportunities outside of the curriculum. They offered professional workshops and contacts which set me up for the working world. It was the best 3 years of my life and I am so grateful for the friends I’ve made.
Lecturers werent very helpful, would just read from a powerpoint without explaining anything
The lecturers are the only thing good about this university.
Small uni on sites in Gloucester and Cheltenham but loads of different courses. Small numbers on courses which means more individual attention and the students that actually get places are of a good standard. Lecturers are good quality. Most courses have decent trips. Student life is good, so many clubs to join. Nightlife is limited to a few clubs but better for that. SU work hard to include everyone. Mental health is a priority and lots of help is available if needed. Uni accommodation in 1st year is expensive but of a decent standard.
My time at University of Gloucestershire let me down.
Oxtalls sports campus looks and feels old and outdated compared to other campuses. Halls could do with a revamp to look more like the modern Blackfriars residences
Lovely intimate university. Great relationship with the lecturers. Close with my whole course. Fab learning environment.
Good university with unlimited amount of experiences and placement provided with lecturers being in the current industry helps students to learn a lot more efficiently and effectively
Hands on, involved and completely emerged in the community at UoG, some of the best years of my life. An underdog of a uni to say the least.
The societies other than the sports teams are lacking and there is little university pride. I am often dissociated with the university itself and do not feel a part of a community. There are facilities in terms of course-related equipment such as editing and recording studios, however there is a lack of of gym and/or pool. Though the university does have SU bars I have not seen them even half way busy since the first day of fresher's. Having said this, the campus is very attractive and there are loads of nice places to sit and chill out or have lunch. There is easy access to campuses with a frequent bus, which the university provides a very small discount for. However, unless you live in Cheltenham but study in Gloucester or vice versa, this is not too much of a problem as Cheltenham is flat and walking or cycling is common and easy.
The university experience I have had has been absolutely amazing can’t fault it!
The campus is beautiful, I'm big on aesthetics, and it really suits that side of me. It's a genuine place, uninterrupted by the attention larger universities get, which makes it feel more authentic. My proffesers are there because they love their subjects and their contentment reaches through to students. The facilities are genuine and well used. They are nowhere near as plentiful as other places, but they suit us.
I personally have loved studying at the University of Gloucestershire, with four campuses across Gloucestershire it’s accessible to all, I am disabled and the amount of support I receive mentally and physically with a doctors on campus has been outstanding, couldn’t have gone to a better campus.
The helpzone are absolutely dreadful. My Nan passed away and a day later they told me it wasn’t a big deal and I shouldn’t be sad. Don’t go here, especially if your mental health is already poor.
Lovely environment, great and effective student support, good facilities and friendly lectures. Would definitely recommend as a uni to my friends to study.
The university of Gloucestershire gave me the best university experience possible and I am grateful for what they provided. The SU could be improved but the staff and facilities are fantastic
Best year of my life at this uni! A small and homey uni full of amazing people
Going into my second year, there has been a lot of investment in new facilities which look amazing. Lots of help available everywhere. WiFi is not too bad but eduroam has crashed a few times and isn’t available everywhere. Clubs and Societies are amazing with so much choice. Nightlife is a 7/10 with Cheltenham being the better town to go clubbing. Would definitely recommend coming to the University of Gloucestershire.
Wonderful small university which doesn't have a large intake of students; thus ensuring the lecturers will always be there to help. Much more personal than larger unis and the education I still substantial. It's easier to get the help and get your voice heard because of the smaller capacity! However, small doesn't equal not as good! The lecturers are extremely intelligent and the psychology course offers a huge variety of subjects and teaches more about qualitative methods than a majority of other universities! Much more critical towards the approach of psychology and such. The facilities are still pretty good as there is some good technology; e.g. psychology has an EEG lab. Overall, I love this university and truly believe that it is one of the best due to the personal relationship you can have with lecturers, amazing syllabus which teaches a variety and brilliant facilities!
A great university where you dont feel like a number, small campuses mean the lecturers and staff kbow you personally.
The staff are so committed and care about your education
Amazing uni I’ve been there three years and the criminology course is amazing
It’s a fantastic place to study with lecturers who really care for your best interests
A small and home-ly feeling university. As there aren't many people on the courses you have an opportunity to get to know your lecturer on a personal basis which provides more meaningful support.
loved my campus (pittville), made amazing friends and really enjoying my course (biology) which got better and better as the weeks went by!
The pastoral team were everything I could ask for, however, the teaching staff frequently left my emails unresponded to, gave poor and vague advice on essays and failed to spot the signs of my imminent mental breakdown.
Very supportive university with small classes and great facilities, especially with the new investment in sports and Business
Excellent new business school. However, especially in Gloucester, other facilities outside of education are at a minimal. Could have a playing field or public spot other than the cafeteria and the tiny, and usually empty, student union bar
I have just finished first year however, I already begrudge the fact that I will have to remain at this university for 2 more years in order to qualify. First year has been hell. Living in Halls is not something I would ever recommend to anyone - the flatmates that I was so unlucky to end up with made things so horrible in the flat that I either starved or went out to dinner, rather than stepping foot in my own kitchen. A few of the girls I lived with are also on my course and they really crossed the line from 'banter' to bullying. Leaving me with a massive loss of confidence and struggling personally. The lack of support I feel from the tutors made me unable to talk to someone about their behaviour and so I suffered in silence and my Mother, now I am home for summer, is repairing the damage. There's no support at all. Clubs and societies are used for nothing other than 'status' and drinking and who can sleep with the most people. Summary: don't go here, I hate it.
not an amazing uni. The lecturers are funny with their marking and don't really bother emailing you back.
