Good university with great staff.
my course leaders and tutors are supportive however some of the facilities lack such as the wifi
Good and has a lot of space for working
If you are an art person , this is the place!
Great place to learn and meet interesting people
Great location and an amazing choice of societies
My teacher recommended this University to me and I am glad I took their advice because I have had the best time at Uni!
Nice facilities, handled covid on campus really well.
I've not been into university yet
Haven’t been in much because of the pandemic, but the times I have been in, everything has been great
I haven’t been in person yet so I don’t really know.
The university is quite good. Good facilities and nice staff
Cant give you a good answer as despite being here for months Ive never even had to go in because of corona!
Good Good Good Good Good Good
Good university but more clubs and societies are needed
Everyone is very helpful and nice
The security seem to think they can just enter a flat when we have no music on to say the music is too loud! Even though it is the flat above us playing music. They cannot even justify why they enter our flat without consent
awesome uni that has everything you need!
helpful staff, not much of an international student community, good mental healthcare services
The university canteen is good as it offers a lot of food option. The WiFi can be poor which is expected due to so many people accessing it at once. However, the logging on system can sometimes not work which can be an issue
Good uni, lecturers are always so helpful and most are friendly. They have a wide range of societies but I wish they had more that appealed to me like more dance societies with LUU have. Facilities such as libraries are great and well organised too. WiFi is fast and good for when you need it on campus
I'm in the film school so there is some great equipment to be used and the teaching is pretty spot on.
half decent but transferring after first year so let that tell you what it must, haha
S***, 0 help provided absolutely god awful uni
When l finished in the bee hive l will going to the Moulton colleges after that Justine will give a jobs. I am going the club going to go university to life there because they sent up all the work as set up
One of my biggest life regrets was going to Leeds Met (as it was known at the time). I studied there between 2010-13 (but looking at the more recent reviews some of the problems I had with the teaching quality are still there). The open day and online videos at the time painted a very different picture to what the reality was. The Headingley Campus is very pleasant and on paper looked nicer than Manchester Met (my other choice), but looks can be very deceitful. I had heard bad things about offering half price tuition fees to get bums on seats but I had thought they had moved past this when I started there in 2010. The teaching quality given by my faculty was incredibly poor. Staff were rude, cold, monotone and set in their ways. We were not treated fairly and were made to feel like a problem whenever we raised concerns. The experience was so bad that it showed an ugly side to my peers. The university just wants your money and they give little back. I would urge you not to go here.
I have completed an MSc in Public Health - Health promotion and I would advise people to not undertake this course. The course is poorly managed as I was misadvised on how to complete the masters and as a result I failed. I wasted a lot of time, effort and money on a course that did little for job prospects anyway.
I have had a great time with the uni. I'm studying BSc Hospitality Business Management of which modules capture a variety of aspects such as Marketing, Finance, Operation, Human Resources, etc. Especially in the 2nd year, we had an opportunity to organize a big event for the uni as one of the modules. I love the libraries on both campuses which open 24/7. After class, there are so many activities to join such as societies, workshops or events so that I never feel bored. Last but not least, I really appreciate for the uni support team in terms of academic, career, wellbeing and any queries that I asked.
A decent university, good facilities, fun staff.
Leeds Beckett Uni is a great university i don’t have a bad word to say about it
Northern film school is a great school inside the uni
City campus good facilities and friendly atmosphere
The university overall has little social aspects and the course is poorly ran
Great uni with lots of courses available for everyone. Some parts of the building are quite outdated and need an upgrade or deep clean! food is quite expensive but probably not different to other unis. I am very impressed by the athletics team at headingley as a regular member. The sports facilities could also do with updating.
Best decision I ever made was coming to Leeds Beckett University xxx
I do the music production course and love it! The staff is brilliant and there's always somebody there to help.
This university doesn't adequately deal with complaints. I reported my housemate for violence and threats. It took almost a year for the guy dealing with it to tell. Me the outcome of the process. They made her write 3 lines of an 'apology' which wasn't actually an apology, but her blaming me. They seriously believed that was sufficient. We also had a lecturer turn up an hour late for an exam, so we had to start an hour later. Most of my course complained and nothing was done about it. I can count 4 decent lecturers, the rest cancelled lectures last minute or simply didn't turn up. Hardly any guidence on coursework. You have to pay for graduation tickets. Don't waste your money by attending Leeds beckett.
Terrible for students with disabilities and mental health. I left Beckett after a meeting with my personal tutor at the very end of the second semester when she told me that there was an “unofficial policy that anyone on high doses of antidepressants should leave or take some time out” I was diagnosed in the first semester had been doing really well and was on track for a 2:1 she told me with my medication I would be unlikely to get a 2:2. I took the exams (even though the disability worker forgot to request extra time or adjusted papers) and I got a 2:1 overall. I left and restarted at a smaller uni near by and in my first year got a 1:1 (first) in my second now and on track to get a 2:1/1:1 again and have started looking at PHD and masters. The tutors made me feel inferior and unwanted due to my health problems and mental health problems. I have been progressing and improving.
Worst place to get a degree. I do not recommend no-one to go there. The staff are rude, they act like your enemy. Special in the faculty of business. They turned my life into a nightmare. I started my degree in Business Management in 2014 and I'm still trying to finish it in 2019 because of the lack of helping from the faculty of business and the bad staff from this University. Please, do not go there!
I like that leeds becketts main colour is purple
Very good place easy to get around food class
The university is a great place for social time along with the deep knowledge of the lecturers for the courses, it’s situated in a good location where transport is not far away.
Don’t really help you get involved with anything, don’t tell you anything about clubs etc
Okay standard but nothing brilliant. See if things improve 2nd year
Great university. Loads of support available. Lecturers are approachable and friendly. Library facilities are available 24/7 365 days a year. Great nightlife.
Can’t complain about anything! Have everything you need here!
Good university, good lectures and better than Leeds uni... all becket aren’t we?
The pastoral care of my course was amazing.
Decent university just needs more time and effort to be put into the uni to help students. Barely any societies, doesn’t have the ‘uni vibe’.
All the staff at Leeds Beckett give me so much support and guidance
Amazing university and I would recommend to many! The su could be miles bigger and food could be cheaper but overall great uni and great facilities
My tutors are very supportive, I’ve made great friends here. I didn’t enjoy the experience as much when I was a commuting student.
Leeds is not only a fun place to learn but you are also able to think long term about your life choices while still having a fun time with your friends
Decent uni experience. Facilities are great and amazing spaces to chill out. However there are hardly any car parking spaces and the internet is very poor.
Good university, WiFi can sometimes be rubbish and could do with more computer rooms, career service could improve but overall okay
Pretty good apart from s*** staff.
The best university for sports and events management! Everyone is so much more friendly than other universities and it’s the best choice I’ve made!
Good school amd everyone is very welcoming
Both the city and Headingley campus is beautiful, all of the staff and lecturers are brilliant and go above and beyond to do all they can for student to achieve the very best. There are so many opportunities from international volunteering to sports clubs and societies.
Brilliant placement opportunitys
Great first year, had any support needed!
Overall Leeds Beckett is a fanstastic university with quality facilities, especially for those studying a sports degree. There are many opportunites to join various societies and sport teams and lots of support available. Only issue is the SU at Headingley campus is poor compared to most others I have experienced.
Loving my time at Leeds Beckett so far, excellent facilities on both campuses and really supportive staff
Wide range of courses as well as extracurricular activities available, and offers a great location to socialise and study with like-minded people.
Such a good university with everything around it
Good uni as mentioned previous
So far my experience has superceeded my expectations
Campus looks like a state school and its very basic but thats polytechnic for ya
Love this uni, changed from a different one after first year and now wish I started here originally. Best campus, amazing facilities and supportive staff. Anyone who is considering Beckett, you won't regret it!
Good uni, good location, friendly stff
Brilliant! Happy I chose beckett
Everything you need, would recommend
Absolutely brill, loved my first year
Not a great experience with teaching and support. No external marking on the arts/architecture courses with very bias and unprofessional tutors - tutors that have the attitude as if they don’t want to be there teaching. Some courses are probably run better and work that is correctly marked; however I definitely wouldn’t advise anyone to come here as it’s a waste of money, messy rooms and little access to facilities in which you have to use. A huge disappointment.
All the material you use is beneficial and good quality. First year students have free acess to the gym in city centre or headingley so get that sorted because its FREE
Fab uni, society events are great, the uni always has loads of stuff going on.
Leeds beckett is a friendly and welcoming environment which really makes students feel involved and part of the university.
For student from outside the UK, don't be stupid and lose your time and many
This is the worst education experience I have ever had - DO NOT GO HERE! The teachers do not care at all, rude and dismissive set of people who would obviously rather be elsewhere. The facilities are dirty and rubbish. The lack of support from both staff and in terms of post-graduate activity makes it pointless to even go. Put it this way - I was getting around 50% on assignments and exams in my 1st and second year. Third year, I did not go to a SINGLE lesson or lecture and I average around 75%!! Avoid at all costs. The WORST place ever.
Loved my time at Leeds Beckett. Was really easy to meet new people and make friends.
I can only offer the university praise. I have been studying part-time on an MSC programme and the support was excellent. The teaching staff really do go the extra mile. The buildings are in excellent condition with thousands of up-to-date computers everywhere. This is my 3rd university course i have completed and i wish i had come to Leeds Beckett sooner. Can't recommend enough.
I think Leeds Beckett gets a bad rep for being a "poly". I agree there are better universities to go to, but if you're looking for a more vocational course then Beckett ticks the boxes. I loved my accommodation, it was friendly and fun. It was the most modern but its student halls, I wasn't expecting the Ritz. I've seen far worse at other universities ranked much higher. The SU is a bit dated but they hold pretty good nights out, especially during freshers. Support in the student hub was good. the only problem was booking online could be a bit of a pain... Although people say its not got a very good "campus feel" I disagree. The Headingley campus is really nice, especially the Acre in summer. The city campus is exactly that. People complain that its too spread out but you can get from each building in about 2 minutes. Its pretty much in the middle of town as well... Overall I really enjoyed my time at this uni and wouldn't change it. I got a really nice uni experience.
The wifi got upgraded half way through my degree so we were the lucky year that had to set everything up all over again and it never got done properly.
Hated my experience here. Good facilities but very bad teaching staff - act like they hate their jobs and hate you too. The course (law) was very unstructured and the assessment methods were beyond comprehension. They teach you like you're stupid, because the university seemingly doesn't appeal to the more academic students (I only picked it cos it was close). No campus feel because the buildings are too dotted around and very unfriendly people. Overall horrible time here and am leaving after first year.
Very bad place. One of the sick methods of the teachers is that they put a lot of effort into making everyone in the class hate everyone else. Not to mention the extreme shouting, screaming and hate attacks they impose upson students. No wonder some of them went nuts and cut all the chairs in the library, which incidentally is the only nice place there, it even has a nice library award, that they totally deserve. If you would like your children to be emotionally abused and called all sorts of offensive things, send them to the army instead, that certainly is a lot cheaper! Also, they will give your kids so much paper work to carry around all the time, that they will feel like soldiers, who must read lots of stuff they will never ever need and that is in no way related to their future jobs. The library is full of frustrated students typing corrections for their teachers, over and over again. Many students fail for no reason. In addition, girls vanish. It is a very dangerous place too.
best university and campus and accommodation
Great city but any extra clubs cost alot of money
Nothing wrong with the uni campus exactly what I was expecting and the chicken shack is amazing!!
Students union a bit small and boring compared to other unions I've visited, food is cheap though! Wifi is crap and hard to get onto
Couldn't rate Leeds Beckett more!! I love it!
There needs to be better facilities for the arts subjects (dance and performance) better studios
I love my uni and would recommend it to anyone
Great uni, clean, in the centre of the city, or in a more sub-urban part of Leeds dependent upon your course...either way the campuses are placed perfectly for a modern student, with excellent transport links between them
Would recommend this uni to anyone
Pretty basic and what was expected. Leeds Beckett certainly seems overshadowed by the more prestigious University of Leeds, however.
Wifi is a little difficult to set up.
I am on Headingley Campus and it is gorgeous. Lecture theatres are nice. Boasts top of the range facilities with a good (and cheap) SU bar.
One of the best Universities in the U.K
Teachers could provide more support when finding placement, maybe that's just my course
fantastic uni, brilliant facilities and lovely people!
