Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
It takes nearly an hour to walk to the school from here, and at least half an hour either by train or metro or cycling, which is very inconvenient.
Far from university but ia a warm home
I am content with my choice really, the location, the ambience of the hall, and the people. The best decision!
Very Perfect! The staff here are friendly and warmhearted, this flat give me a sense of home.
Good place to live nearby the universities & near the city center
Was a reallt nic pal d to stay and the staff were great
Very fun and enjoyable experience
Havannah house has amazing kitchen and living facilities. I like the space that you get in the kitchen as it makes it a sociable area. I like the common area downstairs as it allows for social activity
Was very fun year great wifi great staff
Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic Studio - Spacious room, good amount storage space. Friendly staff. Frequent fun events and freebies. Location- closest from Uni Strathclyde
It was an amazing accommodation and felt like home. Staff were supportive and the events organised were amazing at supporting our mental health and social life.
Stayed here for 3 years and enjoyed my staying
I have loved my stay at Havannah House, it by far exceeded my expectations. Any maintenance issues were fixed right away and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are great, my bed is comfortable and everything seems to work great!
I have been living at havannah house 3 years now and i have booked for the next year as well. I did not even think of going to another accommodation i love it here. It is very cozy, the staff are lovely and very helpful
Havannah House is one of the best located student accommodation with all the amenities within a walking distance. Special shoutout to Miss Catherine and Jonathan who are always present to help out. The activities and event are one of the highlights of living here, you get loads of goodies! With big ceiling to floor level windows the space gets ample amount of light and views, making the space more lively to stay.
Havannah House is really a great place to live in. The management is really welcoming! Jonny is a cheerful guy and always being in help. Michael is a great maintainence guy, do all what it takes to fix stuff whenever asked for. I recommend Havannah House for staying in during your university time at Glasgow!
Hi everyone, this is the best accommodation so far. The staff is amazing and very helpful. I have had other experiences at other student accommodations and Havannah house remains the best. Special shoutout to Miss Catherine and Jonathan ; thank you for making this student accommodation feel like HOME.
This is me in my third year here and the only issue I can even think of is the lack of proper parking for people who do have cars. Other than that. Everything is top notch
The accommodation is sparkling clean at all times, has a great common room with lots of space, vending machines, microwaves, and games like foosball (2), snooker (1) and table tennis(1). It also has a large TV and comfortable cushions, and a printer (pay and use). The laundry room is clean but the cost of laundry is comparatively higher. The study room is huge and has lots of tables and comfortable seating. The accommodation also has a cinema room which can be rented out and used by the tenants. Most of the property staff are friendly and helpful. En suite rooms are small but well structured and have lots of cupboards and cabinets, and even picture frames. Ensuite bathrooms have larger cubicles compared to other accommodations. Shared kitchens are of different sizes based on their location and do not have a kettle or toaster but do have a microwave and a TV. The Studio rooms are quite small for the price and are situated pretty far away from the elevators.
Probably the best student accommodation in Glasgow for the price. En suites are premium, and kitchen areas are spacious. Common rooms, study rooms and the cinema room are amazing. Studios are meh though. The staff is mostly helpful and you get lots of goodies now and then.
Got stuff of mine stolen on 2 seperate occasions one of which was my bike. Dont trust living here it doesnt make me feel safe. Also take a lot of reviews for here with a grain of salt as they give out prizes to good reviewers. Other than than the accommodation is fine bit expensive.
This accommodation is wonderful. The location is quite good. As a Chinese, I think it is quite nice to live near the Chinese and British supermarket, because it is very convenient. Besides, the customer representatives are all veryyyyyy nice and helpful especially Jonny😊😊. I definitely recommend you to choose this student accommodation to stay.
Really enjoying my time in havannah, it’s a really great place to meet people with the shared kitchen. Staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. You will have a great time living in havannah house.
This is my first year in Havannah House, and I have to say it is one of the best accommodations I have resided in here in Glasgow, the staff are very helpful and efficient, the common area is very well maintained and the rooms are top-notch. Definitely would recommend Havannah House to incoming students.
The room is really spacious and cozy for the price and I love the mood and tone of it (white&gray). The facilities in the building are also sufficient and well-managed.
I am a postgraduate student from China. Due to the COVID-19, this year of study has been spent in the flat and I am glad that I chose Havannah flat. The receptionist here is kind and patient, and almost every week there is some interesting food that is shared at the reception desk. My favorite part was on the night of Chinese New Year, the receptionist put Chinese red envelopes on the door of everyone's room, which was really heart-warming and made me feel good about being from Scotland on a Chinese holiday. Thanks, Havannah.🥰
I am a student from China and this is my first time living in a flat abroad and Havannah has given me a very good experience. What I felt the most was the front desk staff who were always there, thank you very much for their hard work. Whether I forgot my keys, picked up a delivery or had a problem with a room appliance, the front desk staff were there to help me whenever I needed them. The location and environment of Havannah is also great as it is close to the school, although unfortunately due to Covid-19 I was unable to attend classes at the school. The location and environment of Havannah is also very good, it is very close to the school, although unfortunately due to Covid-19 I was not able to attend school, but from Havannah it is very convenient to go to the city centre and supermarkets, which is very convenient for me, the environment of Havannah is also the best I know, other flats are more expensive than Havannah and the room size is smaller. I really like Havannah House!
Amazing experience. This is my first student accommodation and it is very comfortable and welcoming. Great value for money and the rooms are never cold. Kitchens are big and spacious and great use and easy to clean. Literally a 10 minute walk from the middle of town and 2 minutes form the train station so very convenient for travelling to uni or work. There is always security 24/7 and overall the environment is welcoming. Hopefully after COVID we will be able presume normal activities and start partying like students do!!!
Such a great place to live. The staff are always super helpful and friendly. Location is great, it's very central but still quiet at night. Everything you will need is close by. The rooms are great and even though this year has been tough socially due to covid the staff usually have virtual get together with everyone few times a month.
It is been 2 years for me in Glasgow and would not think to change Havannah
the room is bigger than many others, especially the studio ,the heating is perfect ,you will never feel cold in havannah house ,and the storage space is enough to place your stuff, and the staff is friendly, very closed to the University of strathclyde.
By far one of the best Student Accommodations I've seen, amazing artwork as well as facilities, I'm currently living in a "Classic Studio" and it is a very enjoyable experience in an amazing location, only 2-3 minutes away from the University of Strathclyde and a 5-10 minute walk from George Square.
I have loved living here! The facilities are great, there is so much storage in the kitchen and rooms. The showers are huge and the rooms are designed so effectively with great layouts and ideal furniture and shelving. I have great views out of all my windows. It is easy to control temperature in the rooms; I'm never too cold or too hot. The staff are so friendly and helpful. There are security guards and I feel safe having moved to a city from the countryside for the first time in my life. Despite being so close to the city center, it is genuinely so quiet at night here. The rooms are big compared to other accommodations I have visited or lived in and honestly there is no competition. This really is a luxury place to live as a student.
Super friendly and super helpful staff, always quick to sort out any issues!
Best student accommodation I’ve lived in! Classic Studio is great quality and modern, loads of storage space and massive floor-to-ceiling windows let in loads of natural light. Good quality ensuite with really spacious shower. Free wifi included with good signal in room. Heating bills included, so nice and warm during winter. All staff are really friendly and helpful! Location is great, 5 minute walk from University of Strathclyde, Morrisons and Aldi just around the corner, and a short walk to George Square and city centre. Not far from Glasgow Green which is nice to go for a walk/run.
Havannah House is the ideal location for strath students, and the staff always go out of their way to help the students. 10/10 would recommend tbh
This place is amazing! The rooms, kitchens and common rooms are incredibly spacious and luxurious. Every floor has its own specific colour which is a nice touch. The whole place just screams aesthetic. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and are always welcome to questions and even just a chat. Would absolutely recommend this place 10/10 to anyone who needs student accommodation in Glasgow - you most definitely get your moneys worth.
Amazing location with it being really close to University and the city centre. The staff are helpful and the design is modern, which is just what I was looking for.
Covid-19: 25% percent discount for those who departed by a specific date.
quite small and basic slow wifi, unsocial
