Average teaching quality, in fact sometimes quite poor. Many lecturers seem unenthusiastic about the profession. A few lecturers don't even seem very knowledgeable! Perhaps they have spent too many years teaching and not practicing as nurses. You spend weeks and weeks in first year being taught very basic things, especially regarding assignment writing and general academic skills which we obviously all know anyway (if you're on a degree course you clearly have some prior education to get there!) You're only in uni for 2 days a week on theory blocks - so hardly value for money. read more

The course is good, with excellent teaching staff and content. Our personal tutors are for the most part very helpful, and easy to contact during term time. Sometimes, the course can be a little disorganised, and placements are very last minute, but communication is getting better when issues with organisation come up. I find lectures can be either really good, or a bit boring; people sometimes tend to read from powerpoints, but it's not all of the time, and good seminars make up for this. There's a good balance between assignments and course time, and there's a lot of support offered when you're on placement. The course implements a buddy system, where you're paired with someone in the year above for clinical supervision, which is something I've found very helpful and reassuring in times of panic! Mental health nursing is a very important course at the moment; with emphasis on MH in the government right now, job prospects are fantastic for prospective students. read more
