This is an excellent university to attend with fabulous lecturers. It would be nice to see some more clubs and societies. If you’re a Christian, there are many to pick from, but if you want something secular, you are more limited. read more

Just an ok university. Nothing special or groundbreaking. Average/ poor facilities. Library rarely has adequate copies of books you need. It seems to be one of those 'local' unis, i.e. the locals go there because it's their nearest uni, they often just wanna get their degree and move on with life, so are largely unenthusiastic - sadly leads to a mediocre learning experience for all. The uni isn't particularly renowned for it's research or anything. They cram as many students onto each course as possible, therefore lecture halls are full to the brim & v. uncomfortable. The eatery's at lunch time are packed with people and you sometimes can't find anywhere to sit. read more

Nice and tidy campus with different food and drink options. Good quality of teaching and placements arrangements are made for you and staff are really accommodating. The uni bus (U1/U2) are good services that are free with a student ID. They can be a bit busy in the morning and afternoons after lectures end but run regularly. read more

Good overall experience, have had ups and downs but would definitely recommend this university! I will miss being a student, mainly because I love learning and will not get to see the amazing friends I have made as much when I graduate. My advice is to ensure you have a good work life balance, and to get involved with as many experiences and opportunities as you can! read more

I am a postgraduate student and feel so well supported at the University of Derby. I am loving my course - I have just completed my first semester and feel that I have already learned so much. The content is comprehensive, it is taught interactively and clearly, and each member of the faculty is so warm and passionate that any nerves I had were quickly eased. I am really excited for what future semesters bring, and really believe that the university will help me every single step of the way. I would highly recommend the University of Derby from my experience! read more

I have only studied at Derby since September this year but really enjoying the course so far, I'm studying a degree apprenticeship while still in work and get 1 day release for university, so I don't spend loads of time there and have to commute once a week. My only complaint would be the traffic on the A38 to get there. read more

They need to work better on how they interact with International students especially for the admissions team as well as the student journey overall. There is a lack of care and understanding at times with Internationals with alot of people in admissions not know how to handle their issues. read more

I study Journalism at the Marketon Campus (at Derby Uni) and find that it is such an immersive and engaging course- we really are being trained how to be relevant and current journalists, with the evolving skills that come with that. From learning about the utilisation of social media to going in the radio studios, I really do feel completely immersed in my course, especially as we largely learn by doing. Although this campus is fully kitted out to suit the courses it houses, sometimes it does feel like a bit of an afterthought compared to the main Kedleston campus, as that's where a lot of the union/ activities are based- so we do sometimes feel out of the loop a bit. read more

I came to University of Derby after speaking to a mature student nurse whilst visiting my dad in hospital, she told me the lecturers don't give up on you, they will sit with you independently and try their best to help you learn - this for me sealed the deal because 1 of many in a classroom can feel daunting no matter how old you are! It's a lovely campus, everything in one place, clean facilities and staff are really kind. Nice vibe when you walk through the atrium. Noone knows this but I feel so proud to be there. My advise to anyone wanting to study here - don't think about it, just do it. That's what I did, and it's honestly one of the best choices I've made in my life. read more

The university itself is brilliant, it has many opportunities for clubs and groups etc as well as helping out with careers in your degree and giving career talks which students are informed about. The Wi-Fi is good however i personally think it could be advertised a-bit more on campus. The support is great too as it also accommodated for students living at home, this is from personal experience. read more

One of the best aspects of studying at Derby University is the supportive environment. The lecturers are approachable and genuinely invested in student success, offering valuable guidance both academically and professionally. The modern facilities, such as the library and study spaces, create a great atmosphere for learning, while opportunities like workshops and career events have been instrumental in preparing for the future. However, one challenge has been managing the transition to independent learning, particularly during the first year. That said, this experience has taught me essential time-management and problem-solving skills, which have been invaluable in my development. read more
