Year 1

Entry requirements for Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy and Pharmacology at The University of Manchester

Entry requirements are the formal requirements students need to meet to be considered for a place on a university course. But, each year many universities accept students with lower grades. The bar chart below shows the actual UCAS tariff points of students currently on this course.
A,A,A

Required subjects for Pharmacology with Industrial/Professional Experience (4 years) BSc Hons at The University of Manchester

We require grades AAA-AAB, including two of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (the Core Sciences ). You must have a minimum of grades AA in at least two Core Sciences. Applicants predicted/who have achieved a B in their third A level will receive an offer of AAB, while those predicted/who have achieved an A or A* will be eligible for an offer of AAA. If you are taking only one of the above Core Science subjects, we can consider you for an AAA offer if you are also sitting an A level in at least one of Geography, Psychology, Environmental Studies or Physical Education in place of the second Core Science. If your predicted grades are one grade below our minimum entry requirements we may still make you an aspirational offer if you meet our contextual criteria . Subjects with overlapping content are not normally considered as separate A-levels. For example, Further Mathematics is not considered alongside Mathematics and Human Biology is not considered alongside Biology. If you are concerned there is too much overlap in your A level subjects, please contact us for advice before applying. We believe that practical skills in the sciences are integral to a candidate s understanding and appreciation of these subjects. Therefore we encourage all applicants to undertake any practical skills assessment if it is available in their qualification. Where applicants are applying for science and related degrees, this is likely to be made explicit in the offers you will receive.

I entered this course not knowing a thing about pharmacy, I am in 3rd year now and am so happy I stuck with the course as I’ve come to understand how much of a vital role pharmacists play in patient health care/experience. They ensure patients have the most suitable but also convenient medication, as well as being a source of healthcare advice. In a community setting, they play a fundamental role in public health promotion as well as self care and management of minor ailments like (MSK pain, skin and eye conditions, mild fungal and viral infections etc). This course has been wonderful to make me prepared for future practice as as far as employability goes, there’s a prestige that surrounds this university. The staff on particular units go above and beyond in teaching and generally the staff are so willing to help. My academic advisor has also been exceptional throughout my studies providing employability advise, writing job and oriel references, and helping with academic concerns. read more

I have had so much fun on this course ! The material we studied is of great interest and the lecturers make it as fun as possible. The best part by far is the practical side of the course, where you can physically take part in the experiments (e.g. saliva samples, blood samples, inhaling laughing gas,...). I had a lovely tutor, Peter Brown, who has been very supportive and is always there to help with any problem you might have, big or small. read more
