Chemistry, MChem Hons FullTime

Very difficult course, many, many hours in lectures, workshops and labs as well as necessary reading, recommended reading, problem sheets, coursework, exam prep and consolidation information. You will realistically need to spend 40+ hours every week from the first week till your last exam. But you will learn SO much and won't realise it till what used to be a giant textbook of things going right over your head you notice it's actually a bit oversimplified read more

Just started 2nd Year. Asked a fairly simple question at school's education office to which the staff were rude and snappy. Labs are different to 1st year (seems a little less rushed). 1st experiment completed with no issues at all, but my lab partner and I got different grades (30% diff.) even though we conducted everything exactly same. They also accused me of not attending when clearly I had been. Hate this place even on the start of semester 1. Apparently i was marked down for not attending a 'viva voce' after finishing the experiment even though i have proof of attending. And they still deducted my grade by 20% even though i have evidence to the contrary. This is just the 1st week. Mixed feelings i'm afraid. read more

So far so good. Very nice, personable and intelligent lecturers. Right level for me and everyone seems to be on the same page. First unit is introductory chemistry which is to bring everyone up to speed but is definitely also challenging everyone. The maths unit at the moment is very very basic but will get progressively worse. read more
