Points of entry for Music and Theatre BA Hons

Year 1

Entry requirements for Performing Arts and Music at Royal Holloway, University of London

Entry requirements are the formal requirements students need to meet to be considered for a place on a university course. But, each year many universities accept students with lower grades. The bar chart below shows the actual UCAS tariff points of students currently on this course.
A,B,B

Required subjects for Music and Theatre BA Hons at Royal Holloway, University of London

Where an applicant is taking the EPQ alongside A-levels, the EPQ will be taken into consideration and result in lower A-level grades being required. Socio-economic factors which may have impacted an applicant’s education will be taken into consideration and alternative offers may be made to these applicants. Required: Music A-Level or pass Grade 7 in Music Theory. Applicants without A-level grade A in Music or pass Grade 7 in Music Theory may be eligible for the Intensive Theory entry. This requires Music GCSE grade A/7 or equivalent, plus performance at Grade 7 level. In term 1 you will be required to take Fundamentals of Music Theory, an intensive music literacy course. Students wishing to take Solo Performance options will need to be of Grade 8 level in performance at point of entry. If you are studying two A-level subjects, you may still be eligible for entry to the Music BMus (single honours), if you are able to provide evidence of your ongoing commitment to music. For this pathway, the standard offer is AB including music. We require candidates to be performing to Grade 8 ABRSM standard, to have studied music theory to Grade 5 ABRSM level, and have a substantial record of musical performance or other musical achievements, which they should detail in their Personal Statement.

Drama with Acting, BA Hons FullTime

I can't say much about the job prospects or teaching qualities as I'm in my first year and I'm basing this off what I have been doing the past 3 weeks. I think the lecturers are very passionate about what they teach. I also do feel that it is substantial to what I believe a university student would need to learn. However, I'm not sure why the fees for international students are way more expensive compared to the locals. I feel that I have to make full use of all the money spent. read more

Believe it or not, it is really rubbish. And the supervision is biased. Mostly importantly asked me to pay fees and then asked me to withdraw and then only refunded me portion of fees. Ridiculous services. read more

Personal tutors were brilliant. Very helpful with any struggles. Contact hours are good as it means you have so much time to do all the prep for seminars such as reading and rehearsals. Definitely get to a show bi weekly it'll make all the difference. Course tutors can be difficult but you learn to understand the way they teach. Anne Varty we love you read more

It's really interesting and fun. All the students I have met at this uni have been incredible! The exam, however, does not get explained a lot and it can get confusing. Overall the content is spread out and great! read more

English and Drama, BA Hons FullTime

I think they need to get more organised when finding an equal divide between English and Drama. However, all the lecturers are funny and upbeat, the seminar leaders are all very friendly and incredibly passionate about the subject and there's a great divide between practical drama and theoretical drama. Sometimes it feels like I'm in a sociology or Politics lecture because the lecturers find a way to connect those subjects with drama which is fascinating. Although the uni is small and so the number of students are too, you still learn an awful lot from your peers. And join the shakespeare society... it's brilliant!! read more

Drama and Theatre Studies, BA Hons FullTime

I've loved my first year, studied a wide range of things. Some don't seem to be relevant but I think it will make more sense over the next two years. Fabulous tutors. I would say there was only one tutor who I really disliked. Lots of support available, personal tutor automatically allocated and foundation tutorials are a huge part of the first year curriculum. read more

Physics with Music, BSc Hons FullTime

Royal Holloway is one of the very few universities which provide this interdisciplinary course and allows students to pursue both passions simultaneously without missing out on either side. Although the course does lean towards a slightly more physics based content, the many music societies and events available balances this out. read more
