I am a Ukrainian student and a wheelchair user. I was afraid of studying at the University full-time because I have a genetic disease that impacts my mobility and strength capacity. But when I enrolled I got so much support that I couldn't imagine. First of all, the University staff is organising the lecturers reporting for me, so I can watch them online from my computer. Second of all, they provided me with a support group of 3rd-year students. I have 15 hours per week for their assistance. So when I am at the University and working in the studio I can get help any time I need to work with different materials I'm not able to handle by myself. Also, there were a lot of job opportunities across the University. Now I have a placement at the Gallery Nottingham Contemporary. read more

I have come along way from first year and can see a big improvement on my self confidence as-well as my work. I do feel that students should have more time for 1-2-1 as we only have 20 minutes and often this is shorter as tutors run over on other students. As final year involves a lot more practical work the support for this is limited as only a few tutors are available at ones and have to go between a large amount of students. I have definitely become more self sufficient but feel I lacked reassurance from tutors. read more

The facilities for knitwear and textiles are amazing! So many Dubied machines, a room for domestic knitting, linkers, overlockers, sewing machines and also spaces for garment make and pattern cutting. Above the knitwear section the the fashion department where you can get free fabrics if you want to make toiles and also fabrics to buy. The teaching side of things is very good as the course normally has a small amount of people. My class have 16 so this means that the teachers can spend more time one on one and this is really effective in pushing your work forward. Course content for term 1 was my favourite so far as you get to experiment mostly of dubied and introduced into Zero Waste Pattern Cutting. In term Two which is what I have just completed you get introduced into all the other textiles techniques such as Dyeing, Embroidery, Print, Domestic which can elevate your knitting. the Course does have a sandwich year option so you can have experience in industry! read more

Really cool course with some amazing opportunities to work with/for brands. Cool content with optional modules and we go through a lot of content so you can find your niche. Broad course and not all fashion or marketing based. Only bad things I would say is some of the staff don't really know what they are talking about especially in terms of assessments, we do Q&A's and all they really say is look at the brief. Everyone I speak to says the course gets better as you go on and I agree second year has been much better then first. Some projects feel a bit pointless but they usually tie In in the end to a later more important project. Allot of group work and some reflective writing ): Another thing I would say is they don't teach you how to do things really like writing, they set essays but we have never been told how to write an essay. NTU is great though and I believe it is the top rated uni for this course in particular. I think that's on the times ratings of unis. A* read more

It's a really good course if you are someone who has previous experience with the topic. Personally, it was hard to get into it giving that I didn't do graphics before, but I did art, media and product design. Basically, there are some concepts that you get taught and expect to master quickly by just doing your own work. Also, the way the industry is makes it that most students focus on the digital side, so if you don't do that it might be hard to learn and get used to by yourself, and you will probably feel left out. It's a very quick paced course and although there is help available with everything, if you have anxiety/depression or are neurodivergent, it could be really hard for you to deal with everything and you will probably find it hard to do everything in time because the only really set in stone deadlines are at the end of the year and so motivation fades in projects. If you don't have a diagnosis yet there is not much there can be done in terms of accommodations. read more

I love NTU as a university and I am so glad I chose to spend my four years studying here, especially as I got the opportunity to undertake a placement year, which has provided me with valuable, hands on experience. However the course content is very repetitive especially from second to third year, and one of my final models, I find totally irrelevant and it feels very forced and geared towards making the course creative which isn't really what it is about. The course is very structured to begin with, introducing you to new ways of thinking, brainstorming and working - which for me was a surprise but I have found that it is benefiting me in ways I hadn't realised. You do a series of 1/2 week projects which all have a different focus (the client, pattern, type) and everyone has a different idea given to them within each project meaning your focus will be totally different to anyone else's. read more

I thought I was going to be attending yet another course with all males and the fact the course has females, really gives you sort of motivation to stick at it! The teaching is pretty amazing as there is no tip toeing around something, it's an honest review for your own benefit which is what you want in an arts course! I believe every uni course is over priced, way over priced but the quality of my course considering everything is pretty amazing. Definitely recommend my uni for graphic design to future students who are interested. read more
