Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
The accommodation is up a mountain, with sun-par access to local amenities without a car. There is one small social space, if not the tiny flat kitchens. There is a range from cheap and cheerful to slightly better. Amazing wifi never had an issue with that and maintainence solves issues fast
The school accommodation is a really good place and I would highly recommend it.
Absolutely atrocious. Avoid like the plague, infested with insects, appliances exploded, overall horrendous experience. Go to Mountain Halls even if you have to pimp yourself out to afford it.
Not a bad place to live I think there should be more social spaces as theres is only one around
These halls are totally the worst experience any human can imagine! Upon arriving, the rooms were grubby and the cupboards in the kitchen were total trash. Luckily enough, I've been provided with a small cubby in the fridge and someone nicked my freezer shelf! Plenty of social life right there! On top of that, I'm paying £100+ a week to live on the top of a bloody massive hill, with no nearby facilities all to hear a bunch of alcohol infused "young adults" getting off their faces at three in the morning when I have a class at nine! Not worth it one bit, looking forward to moving out into a student house with my friends next year! I want my money back!
These halls are quite basic but has all the essentials. All rooms have ensuites which is great!
very nice but ling walk from T block to lecturers
Glamorgan court is average, it's great for social experience and great value for money, the accommodation staff are with you 24/7 only closed 2 days a year I think! Internet could be upgraded as sometimes it is very slow!
Clean. Problems with accommodation and included furniture quickly resolved.
Quite a bit of money for not a lot. No where near enough space to store food, 1 freezer draw and a tiny mini fridge each! All the basics are catered to, but for the amount being paid I expected a bit more.
