Stayed here for my first year and settled in really easily with my roommates. We all had our own comfortable free space but also a nice kitchen to socialize! The place was easy to maintain and had no issues with faulty appliances, everything worked really well. The staff in the admin office were super convenient and lovely! Including their doggo. Only wished there was more convenience with parking, but for first year I didn’t mind not having a car as I could walk 15 mins to campus :) Train station isn’t loud or busy, and it’s super convenient for getting to Falmouth Town or Truro! Bus stop right outside the accommodation too for those late nights out on the weekend 🤪 Only wish there was more of an outside social space, but the few benches we had served us well :D Overall a great accommodation for those happy to stay in Penryn!

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Was great for first year, made it easier to meet new people, convenient location

Lovely place to be living in for the 1st year of university. Close to the train station, easy to get to Falmouth or Truro, 15 minute walk to the Penryn Campus. Facilities are to a good standard, including the washing facilities. The customer service is outstanding, the staff are all so welcoming and lovely! Nothing is ever to much of a problem. Always so quick to help or resolve an issue.
The staff are great here and easy to get on with. The university is a short 15 minute walk and the wooded area you get to walk through is very pretty. Train station runs alongside the accommodation, which is great for getting to falmouth or truro. However as someone living on the side by the trains I can say this can be quite loud (especially since they run from 6am to past 11pm) and can disrupt your sleep. The only other issue here is the wifi which is slow unless you pay quite a lot for faster speeds, and you can't get wifi in the laundry room where the app requires it. Personally I've enjoyed my stay and I'm glad I stayed here instead of at Glasney.
The Sidings staff are very welcoming and accommodating throughout Covid. Maintenance of appliances going wrong are fixed as soon as possible which is great! However it would be great to receive emails telling us when parcels have arrived ( similar to how Glasney/ campus does it).
Social experience is low because I experienced the place during lockdown. Basic wifi said to be slow for some people, but I had no problems. Overall great place to stay! Super close to train station and penryn campus! Plus you don’t even notice the trains.
I have stayed at the Sidings for 3 years in a row now and have been happy with the experience every time. Its a very cosy and peaceful place to be if that is something you are looking for. The common rooms are a decent size and there are multiple sofas meaning it's a great place to hang out if that is also something you want. The location is great with the bus stops and train station being right outside, campus is about a 20 minute walk but the steps can be tiring in the mornings. The WiFi is good when you have it but it is frustrating having to pay so much for extra devices or not having anything guests can connect to. Staff are friendly and make an effort to remember you but having to collect parcels between 2 and 5 only 5 days a week is a bit annoying. Although pricey, it is worth it for the comfort and pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend.
The rooms are quite a bit smaller than they are in Glasney but a bit more expensive. The bike storage is great as it's secure and sheltered but can sometimes be difficult to find space. Surf storage is a bit weird but does the job. Great for the train station and going into Penryn but it's a 20minute walk to Glasney and campus. Maintenance takes a while to come and sort things out (if they come at all). The reception staff are always very friendly and helpful, but are only in from 9-5 during the week. You have to wait to collect any parcels until 2pm. A cleaner occasionally hoovers the stairs but the rest is down to residents. Mop, brushes and hoover supplied. The kitchen is open and fairly spacious, the sofas are great. If you're someone who likes to go to bed early then the Sidings are great as there is rarely anything ever going on - you won't be kept up! WIFI is slow and upgrades are expensive, there's also no internet or signal in the laundry which makes the app impossible.
The location is great, right next to the train station, staff are all lovely and the rooms and common room/kitchen is really nice. Only downsides are the costs of internet which is a lot and it’s not always the best WiFi either in the past but overall really enjoyed my time here
The Sidings is great, off from the main busy campus but not too far and right next to the train station. Homely place to live.
Very nice. However, some VERY rude staff.
A generally pleasant environment about 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Glasney. Safe, calm and quiet - although next too busy road and train station. Easy to get around, very idyllic.
