Even before covid the lectures largely consisted of pre-existing dated powerpoint slides with little interactive content or placement opportunities. This couples with the teaching quality, they really want to help and provide support but are largely limited by university red tape. I have only had contact once with my personal tutor (George Houghton) in four years, in which he told me my 2:1 wasn’t could enough and that my disability isn’t enough reason to hold me back. I can’t imagine what he’s like to other students. The course content again is largely old PowerPoints but the lecturers care about their course content and are excited to teach and help others learn. For this, it cancels out the reusing on PowerPoints. The lecturers are more enthusiastic here than anywhere else. The job prospects are high, with great support from a job employability team in the university and the option to achieve a BEA, Bangor Employability Award. read more

The course is incredibly rushed and squashed in 2 days in the first year by having lectures 9-5 on both Monday and Tuesday. Tutors use the excuse of people commuting however, those people can choose to do part time. This makes content very hard to learn, especially when getting ready to go out on placement. A lot people are not ready because everything in the first 6 months is rushed. Tutors put way too much pressure on students as they want the course to look good. A lot of things are brushed under the carpet, as if they were to get out it would look really bad on the course and lecturers'. Lecturers have their favorite students which tend to be the ones that should not be the course because they break BACP guidelines. No one feels comfortable sharing anything with lecturers as they turn things around on the students. Even though the course is full of international students, these students do not feel comfortable and cannot wait to be done with the course as there is a lot of racism. read more

I can confidently say that the program is exceptional. The faculty is highly knowledgeable and passionate about their subject, and the course content is engaging and challenging. The department is well-equipped with modern facilities and resources, including a dedicated computer lab and research facilities. The program also offers numerous opportunities for students to gain practical experience through research projects and placements. Additionally, the department fosters a supportive and inclusive environment, with approachable lecturers and a strong sense of community among students. If you've come this far, you've already decided to do a degree. Your only variables are now what and were. Psychology is bary broad and appeals, in one way or another to all. Don't go too specific at this stage, best to do straight psych and then branch out once you're qualified with the broad basics. So, that's the course done... The location, BANGOR! Done. You'll not find a more loving/ welcoming and all together friendly city than Bangor/ uni than Bangor! From staff, students and locals: everyone contributes to a lovely environment stuck between the most beautiful national park and coast line in the UK! read more
