There are many different lecturers utilised in the program delivering a variety of lecture materials, but this makes it hard to form personal relationships with them and there is inconsistency in the method of teaching and assessment. read more

Mostly great teaching aside from some who go too fast through content. Most are also not only good teachers but are engaging so you actually enjoy listening to what they’re teaching. I would advise brushing up on physics and paying attention in first year oceanography if taking Tides Waves & Marine Energy module in second year as they seem to assume everyone in that module is an oceanography student and has a good grasp of the physics already. Even so, in that module some of the lecturers are very engaging so it’s not super boring. While jobs in conservation etc might be sparse from what I know Bangor has very good career prospects for graduates. read more

Overall, my Marine Biology degree has been an amazing experience and I have learnt so many skills and key knowledge to take into my working life. Due to lecturer strikes, I have missed many lectures, resulting in a loss of money where these lectures that are missed are completely disregarded. I have had some issues with specific lecturers in the past, including not communicating properly, giving us assignments with the wrong tasks to help us complete them and assignments that were not related to the lectures of the module. However, this is just a minor few and, overall, lecturers always seem keen to teach on what interests them and take the time to go over harder theories etc. My personal tutor was great within my first two years, though I have had limited contact with her this year. Overall, what I have got out of the course is the key thing, which is the course has made me narrow my eyesights onto the career I want to have in the future. read more
