The adult nursing course at Bangor university is poorly funded. Each pupil has far less spending per head in comparison with other subjects. 95% of my course was taught online with key nursing skills never taught in person. Personally, I feel adult nursing repeats itself a lot. Which means it misses out on other subject areas that are as important. Nursing is a rewarding yet challenging and intimidate profession, I believe that the lectures could provide more guidance and develop their method of communication. As we all know communication is essential in nursing. I enjoy the ration of placement and study, it provides a good balance of theory, and learning on the job experience. Enabling students to develop their learnt skills in real life situations, being guided by nurses and healthcares in the healthcare settings. read more

No support at all. Staff seem to not have a clue what is going on and all argue with each other on what advice to give to students. One staff saying the other is wrong and just causing more confusion. Don’t care at all for the students mental health and just brush you off to someone else. read more

All learning is through online teaching, no practical side even with injection technique being a PowerPoint, when you raise concerns about aspects of a placement you are automatically sent to fitness to practice with the university only speaking to the said placement and not the student. I would never recommend this university to anyone after how they handled my predicament. They terminated my student status a week before Christmas 21 read more

Online teaching throughout, no clinical skills, no practical element, very disorganised and there's issues with staff cuts so students will find it difficult to get in contact with relevant staff. The support from the university is good, but as far as the course, it's not really been apparent. Nursing is a practical course and the lack of practical teaching has caused issues for many students going onto placement unprepared. read more

One word that describes my experience: Disappointing. When I first got accepted onto the mental health nursing course, I was incredibly excited. However, I do regret not choosing another university and possibly a different course altogether. Every student in my cohort complains about how extremely disorganised the course is. The timetable is often incorrect and there is a lack of communication between staff and students. I emailed my concerns about this to the course rep, and she unfortunately said that this has been brought up numerous times before but never addressed by the staff. Many times during the lectures I felt like they were rushed. This was particularly the case in the large lectures we had that combined all the nursing field students. The lectures only for mental health nursing students were often better, as there were only approximately 30 students at these lectures. Less distractions and felt much less overwhelming. Overall, I'm disappointed and would not recommend. read more

Children’s nursing with Bangor uni has been an enjoyable course, I’ve been lucky to have multiple opportunities to develop my skill and knowledge towards my degree. As mentioned previously, conducting this degree through the pandemic was difficult, Nonetheless, I felt like I have learned the most through the practical placement experiences rather than the theory-based teaching although I will say the child-field specific theory was taught well specifically in my 3rd year. read more
