The content of the course is kind of focused on neuroscience as that is where most of the lecturers are focused career-wise and thus other fields of psychology kind of suffer in quality a bit, otherwise good

Low value for money as with all degree courses in my opinion. Teaching quality varies from poor to excellent - depends on the subject being taught. My personal tutor is wonderful and always available for advice or discussions. Course content is very varied and lots of opportunities no matter what you want to specialise in. Job prospects for psychology, especially from a university such as York, are very good. read more

The department struggled heavily adjusting to Covid-19, some lecturers did not have functioning microphones and so the video lectures uploaded were worthless as students resorted to copying the PowerPoints. Supervisors didn't know how to help students with problems they encountered. Feedback on reports and essays just told you that you were wrong and didn't specifically tell you how to fix it. Workload was good in the autumn term, this spring term has been awful and many students have had mental health problems exacerbated by this. Overall it has been very disappointing and feels like a waste of time. read more
