Some really good teachers, some not so much. My main issue is with job prospects. According to Chambers Student's 2019 report, Sussex supplies 1.2% of trainee lawyers from a sample of 7,000 trainees from 139 firms - interpret that how you want. It's never going to be Russell Group but it's not awful either. There and again, 84 trainees is not encouraging. If you are going to be studying law at Sussex, make your CV stand out. Be aware that you will have to do a lot more than your Russell group competitors. Network; moot/client interviewing/negotiation etc. competitions; volunteer; shortlist firms/chambers and get out applications. Tick boxes. Join a society, take up a leadership position if possible. Don't put all your eggs/any in the magic circle basket because it probably won't happen. I want Sussex to do well and think they should start with reviewing their teaching standards. Law is very hard to study and I think faculty should do a lot more to genuinely help students. read more
