I enjoy my course and all that I’ve learnt however my personal tutor made no effort to speak to me other than to tell me they were my personal tutor. The value for money is your paying for a degree you teach yourself. read more

Law with Criminology, LLB Hons FullTime

I have found my course very enjoyable so far; the modules are interesting and I have learnt many new things and gained a better understanding of a topic I knew before. I love the concept of a lecture followed by a seminar which has aided in improving my knowledge on topics. The lecturers/tutors explain the topics quite nicely; they break down complex topics and ensure that everyone has a grasp before moving on. I believe the content of my course is preparing me for the wider job market and it has increased my passion for law even more. read more

Law with Criminology, LLB Hons FullTime

My tutor was an amazing lady, she helped me with any and all issues I had and was there every step of the way. The criminology course wasn’t well taught in my opinion, and I know lots of other students who agree with me. It was difficult to learn due to this, and feedback felt like I was being told off rather than taught how to improve. Overall other lecturers were brilliant. read more

Sociology, BSc Hons FullTime

When studying Sociology at the Uni of Portsmouth, I found all the tutors very welcoming from the start to the end. It felt as though you were all in it together. By the end I was able to contact teachers and my tutor for any extra help that was needed in 1-1. All in all achieving the highest of my potential. read more

Law with Criminology, LLB Hons FullTime

I absolutely love studying law and find that my personal tutor along with a few other lecturers can not do enough to support me not just academically but personally. I have a few lecturers who care more about my mental health and well-being than grades, which is a breath of fresh air and makes me feel truly valued. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be much communication between the Law and Criminology departments which makes it difficult to do a combined degree, and therefore I would recommend doing one or the other . read more

Sociology with Psychology, BSc Hons FullTime

The course is great though it could do much better on topics. In my opinion the seminars should be more focused on teaching rather than making us talk to each other. It makes me want to avoid seminars, even though I understand the reasoning behind it (Psychological course). Hopefully this only happens during the first year. There is a great range of topics. I have been interested in everything the lectures i attended taught. The teachers are great and the personal tutors listen to your issues; offer advice. The teaching in seminars and lectures is great, i like it. The teachers know how to spot your essay writing weaknesses and the feedback you will get will be spot-on on what to fix. read more

Sociology, BSc Hons FullTime

As previously explained no support given academically or emotionally. She had no support with essays or exams. Lectures were boring and didn't compare to her college lectures. Tutors read from slides no teaching involved all her knowledge came from her Alevels. She learnt no new Information from university. Basically she taught herself. read more

Sociology with Psychology, BSc Hons FullTime

Okay so they lie to you when they say these two courses merge together well, they don't. Psychology is absolutely separate to sociology and they do not tie in together. In the first year there are no seminars for the with psychology students and if you are doing sociology you will be used to doing loads of very interactive seminars, so it is very strange to go from that to sitting in silence for two hours twice a week being lectured at and then having no opportunity to discuss what you have learnt. Sociology side of this course is absolutely brilliant and I whole heartily recommend! read more
