I’m really enjoying my course, psychology is very broad so there may be some modules you find boring but some others great. Second year is when you get to choose your modules so it’s worth the wait! The lecture theatres are massive and while there is in person teaching, it is all recorded and put on zoom to access from home (since covid). read more

My overall experience at the University of Plymouth was positive. Although my last year has been taught remotely due to Covid, the staff and teachers have been very supportive and ensured we did not feel alone during this difficult period. However, I found feedback inconsistent, and at times not very detailed. During my last year marking was disproportionally stricter than in other years. I would have appreciated marking being stricter in previous years to feel more prepared on my last year, which counted 60%. Unfortunately, this had a negative effect on my learning experience. Furthermore, guidelines given during the exams taken remotely were not clear, and many students were counted down on their marks due to not understanding advice regarding formatting. Saying this, the career service at the University of Plymouth was wonderful, which really helped me improve my skills and ensured I got a placement year and a job post graduation. read more

Psychology in general doesn't promise great jobs prospects no matter where you go, but at Plymouth the staff are super friendly, lectures aren't TOO boring, and my personal tutor is super helpful! They also hold weekly coffee hours where they have biscuits (!!) and let you ask questions. The lecturers also seem really updated/at the front of current research. read more

I love this course! I feel that Plymouth really provides a variety of areas within Psychology you can explore through coursework, exams, seminars. The lecturers are really good and enthusiastic about their subject, they are really helpful if you have any questions and quick to answer through email. Plymouth also helped me find a placement so I did a year in industry which really helped me decide what I want to do as a career. It's a very friendly place and I definitely felt like people were very supportive, which was very important for me as I was very shy and introverted when I came here (ahm....still am ). Overall, I have enjoyed my experience and I definitely recommend the course to anyone who's interested in psychology. read more

The majority of lecturers are not very engaging and often just read off the slides. Marking is completely random and your grade seems to depend solely on who your marker was. read more

Some of the modules I have felt have not been great, such as the Psyc107 module where we learnt more about a lecturers personal life, than gaining work experience and life skills. Some lecturers erm and ar a lot when delivering lectures and almost don't seem to know the material themselves. Some are too fast paced or to monotone. However, the majority, especially those helping you in smaller workshop groups, are very good. It is good value for money in terms of the equipment we can use for experiments. However, as we barely have any lectures, everything is submitted online, we had a month of in January for first year and we finish in mid May, it definitely isn't worth £9000. read more

Not a lot of support for some pieces of work. Lots of inconsistency in marking. Haven't seen a tutor once this year. Little instruction in to what actually is going on, kind of get the information chucked at you a week before something has to happen. Some of the content is repeated from a level, this is good/bad. read more
