If you don’t feel like (or can’t afford to) spend money on trips for this course I feel like you’re better finding Zoology at another uni. For me, the highlights of this course were the trips which gave me hands on practical experience with animals and study sites. The rest of the time on campus is spent in derivative lectures learning content from the year before, or in labs where you haven’t a clue why you’re doing what you’re doing because the lecturer is explaining concepts in a needlessly complex way and look down on you when you don’t understand it (can’t say that for all of them but there are a few). Most of the lecturers are nice but there is an air of disorganisation within the department (perhaps that’s just a universal flaw in scientific education) and the only extra-curricular experiences they hand you are Operation Wallacea which are infamous for their outrageous prices for the length of trip and experience given. Very few modules are organised and need updating! read more
