I love my course, and the content we cover even thought some of it I wouldn’t necessarily gravitate towards. It’s fast paced which is expected either way year one to give u a brief insight into many topics so you can then specialise in year 2&3. I think the only limit about the course is that I felt completely clueless/ had no advise about the essays and submissions- apart from one of my tutors who did give us some very helpful advice- how to actually write an essay and what to include was never discussed in many seminars I have so a lot of people were very unsure. Apart from that the seminars are mostly useful however I find sometimes we don’t really get through much and apart from one or two of my seminar tutors a week it’s less a recap on the content and it feels like questions surrounding the content that never fully goes over in a summary, discussions are good but potentially some more activity based tasks would be more efficient for covering more of the content in that topic. read more

Okay so far, 1/5 seminar tutors doesn't do any prep and we sit in silence throughout the whole seminar. The rest are fine. Lectures can get boring, but in first year you skip most of them as long you catch up with the work. read more

English and History, BA Hons FullTime
I'm really enjoying this course, the two elements bouce off eachother very well. I do Medieval English as well as Medieval history and they work together for context and culture. I will say that the Medieval history can drag sometimes, but overall I really like this. Don't be scared to take the drama module! It's really fun, even if you hate acting. You perform with a script to little more than 10 people. It's a laugh mostly. If you can't chose between these two BA's just do it together. You won't regret it. read more

Online uni does sometimes feel like a bit of scam but the content is good and most lecturers and seminar leaders adjusted pretty well to online teaching apart from a few who when people complained that this or that was broken or wouldn't show up, they didn't know how to fix it or sometimes claimed that it wasn't broken which just left people being unable to find some of the work. read more

Most tutors are fab (a few are not my taste but you can't please everyone, I'm sure this is the same with other courses). There is a real mix of topics and styles of learning, from the traditional texts tested with exams to reception of the classical world through film/modern media with online assessments. Sometimes I feel we get fewer contact hours than other courses but there's always work to be doing in the meantime. I would suggest modules taught by Carl and seminars by Charlotte - they're the best! read more
