This is not my first experience at Uni, but it is the best. Our lecturers are experts in their field, and they are not just interested in teaching us history and archaeology in a half-hearted way, they are enthusiastic, always bringing in examples from their own experiences, and showing us how and why things are done the way they are done. They to give us the skills and knowledge to be the best Archaeologists and Historians that we can be, and encourage us to make decisions that allow us to challenge ourselves, whilst avoiding burnout and stress. As a disabled student, I’ve not felt left behind or sidelined in any way, as a mature student, I’ve not felt like I was excluded or treated differently because of my age. Our first year ended with a week long excavation that yielded finds which were thrilling to uncover, and it was exciting to put everything we had learned into practice so quickly.
