Hello! I'm Ayoub Almulla, a second-year Chemical Engineering student and course rep at Teesside University. Here’s my honest review. Modules & Teaching: The course is well-structured, balancing challenges with practical skills like CV writing and emotional intelligence. Lecturers are supportive, provide great feedback, and makes learning engaging. Student Life: The Student Union offers societies and regular events with discounts and entertainment. You can also start your own society if approved. Campus & Facilities: The campus is well-maintained, with ongoing improvements. WiFi is strong, and I’ve had no issues. Final Thoughts: My experience at Teesside has been great, with more positives than negatives for my observation. For more info, visit Teesside University’s website. Thank you for your time! As a second-year chemical engineering student, I’ve found Teesside’s program to be a good mix of hands-on learning and real-world prep. The labs are fantastic—we get to use industry-standard tools like Aspen HYSYS and MATLAB, and the lecturers (most of them, anyway) genuinely want you to succeed in your career.Sure, some courses feel a bit too theory-heavy or disorganised; for example, when I asked about thermodynamics, heat transfer & fluid mechanics, and mass & energy balance, I got negative feedback about how hard it is, but after experiencing the subjects, I won't say it's easy, but with the amazing lecturers and support and studying hard, it helped to overcome it and get good grades. The university’s ties to local energy giants, such as BP and SABIC, mean internships and networking are actually within reach, and I got the chance to visit the SABIC site. It was a great experience. Campus life’s low-key and affordable, which works if you’re here to grind. Not perfect, but it does the read more

As an international student from Kuwait , my time at Teesside University was both enriching and supportive. The inclusive environment respected my cultural and faith needs, with quiet prayer spaces and halal food options, helping me feel at home. Academically, I developed strong skills in like Critical Thinking, Leadership Skills and more through practical projects and supportive lecturers. The university’s focus on employability, like working in a real chemical field and provide us with a SABIC chemical plant trip which prepared me for my career while staying true to my values. Connecting with peers from diverse backgrounds broadened my worldview, and the university’s international student services ensured I thrived both personally and academically. I leave Teesside with confidence, ready to contribute globally while cherishing its welcoming community 😁 read more

Final year Concept Art BA. I highly recommend the course for specialist studies in concept art for the entertainment industry (movie, tv, games, etc.) It teaches 2D and 3D software with a range of skills and tools for related industries, or to help you stand out when applying for a career, including animation, product design, marketing, game design and key art illustration, with classic art fundamentals and life drawing sessions. Work is completed traditionally and digitally covering many subject specialisms. A good balance between adapting to individual student career goals with preferred art topics/processes and challenging project briefs that push you to adapt fast. The lecturers are very knowledgeable and approachable. low contact hours so meet with tutors for tailored advice. Industry events and guest speakers are fantastic with a curriculum based on current industry hiring expectations. DSA and study skills teams are very supportive. Library is amazing! read more

I'm a current MA Concept Art student. The professors on the course are amazing and integrate Career Advice via visiting lecturers/portfolio reviews into the program syllabus. External events such as Animex and Gamebridge are made easy to attend and the organizers tend to work well with campus staff to ensure as many students from relevant fields are able to attend for free. The facilities are fairly well outfitted to student needs. Tech/IT is very responsive in case of server outages or program issues. At times it can be hard to know when rooms are being used for teaching but professors are always gracious and offer any available computers should you need to use them. The Student Union is very robust and hosts every society and club you could think of and adds new ones all the time and has a well equipped shop with lots of good and cheap art supplies. Career Services does their best but my particular program is tricky to find placements given the current industry. read more

Currently studying concept art as a first year and am really loving it! All the lecturers and tutors have been incredibly friendly and helpful and the modules have been really fun! I’m only in my first semester so we’ve been mostly doing introductory work, but concept art pre production and life drawing have been perfectly challenging and engaging. The campus itself is nice, always kept clean, and you always feel safe walking round even in the late hours of the morning. read more

I started here in September of 2024, I honestly did not know what to expect while being at University but so far it has lived up to my expectations. While being in my course, Information Technology (IT) I have learned so much. The way the tutors teach is significantly greater and more in-depth than the likes of being at college / sixth form and the information that they give you is much better. Furthermore, all the tutors are very supportive with anything, if you need help on any topic they are there to support you, and if you need help with something that is outside of university, you are able to get the help that you need. You are even able to get help to apply for jobs, CV help, and anything of that sort. I am enjoying my time here and would recommend it to anyone who wants to study IT. read more

Teesside University's School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies (specifically in my case Civil Engineering), has provided me with a great opportunity to develop my technical skills and gain academic research experience. The course is well thought and provides a good mix of both soft skills (i.e., group work, time management, technical writing, etc.), and industry specific skills (i.e., applied mathematics, structural analysis, hydraulics, etc.). Lecturers and course leaders are approachable and have the students best interests and progression in mind when delivering content. Throughout the course, there has been opportunity to hear from industry partners, Engineers working on real projects, and the potential of visiting live construction sites. Labs are equipped with suitable technology to provided students with a positive experience similar to that of an actual workplace, technicians are friendly and understanding of students experience. read more

Review of Teesside University, Middlesbrough Teesside University offers a beautiful campus with modern facilities, making it an attractive place to study. The campus is well-equipped, offering excellent academic resources such as state-of-the-art libraries, research labs, and numerous study areas that cater to a wide range of disciplines. The teaching staff is highly qualified and approachable, ensuring that students receive quality education and support throughout their academic journey. Additionally, the university provides a conducive learning environment with a strong focus on research, encouraging students to engage in innovative projects. However, as an international student, I have noticed one concerning issue. There seems to be a division between international students, particularly those from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria, and the local and European students. The classes are often split, which creates an uncomfortable feeling of separation and does read more

Teesside University
The university usually markets itself as the best university in the world before receiving any money. However, especially for international students, the document processing can be delayed for a long time, such as 1 month. This not only makes them fall behind in their education but also makes it difficult to make friends. The shock of coming to another country brings many problems with it. The accommodation units of the university are definitely inadequate and most students have to look for houses in remote parts of the city. It is also quite difficult to find a job. Nevertheless, it has a system that deserves to be among the best in England in terms of education. After that, its very positive feature is that it is located in a small and cute city and in a very airy place. In addition, the university authorities, especially the units such as the student life center and international student admissions, are absolutely helpful and do their job with a smile regardless of the person. read more
