Geography, BSc Hons FullTime

Again, having not actually stepped foot inside the university yet, it is incredibly hard to gage value for money. With geography there is typically a great deal of lab work/ computer room use involved and that is still yet to be undertaken. My tutors however are incredibly supportive of the current climate, and offer us as much as they can in regards to guiding us. Course content is unfortunately affected by the lack of fieldwork, a lot of what has been planned will have to take place virtually, again this taints the value for money at this point. Teaching quality is good, but it’s virtual, and that isn’t something that anyone is used to, the learning curve is a lot sharper than I think any of us could have anticipated. read more

The geography course at hallam provides so many opportunities to go abroad like a visit to Iceland or to study something you enjoy for your dissertation. Not only do you have the best staff to provide you with help, you also have access to alot of facilities than any other subject whether that be using the labs, fieldwork ( trips in the UK or out), computer rooms, lecture halls and many other things. read more

Geography, BSc Hons FullTime

An enjoyable course with a mix of field trips, individual assignments and group tasks throughout the 3-year course. Assignments all vary from elective to elective, preventing the monotonous lecture-essay-lecture-essay circle. This gives every type of learner the chance to excel at different types of assessed work (assignments, reports, presentations, video assessed work or more creative assignments). The free rein given for your dissertation meant it was my favourite assignment of the whole 3 years! Books and articles are widely available in Adsetts (the student library), which is a very well equipped place to work either individually or in groups. BSc Geography is a fun course offering a multitude of skills and knowledge to finish university with. read more
