The staff are really supportive offering and encouraging students to visit them during their office hours to discuss anything that you may be struggling with or if you just need a bit of advice. As I have studied Sociology at A level I do find the course a bit boring at the moment, but I'm in first year and expect that they're doing this to get everyone to the same level. read more

Sociology, BA Hons FullTime

As a Sociology student, you never really expect to be particularly employable, but with this course it's even less the case. While many of the course lecturers are certainly proficient at their jobs, the course often lands itself in the uncanny valley between focusing heavily on social theory and/or portraying itself as something of a "Tumblr Studies"/"Social Justice" course. This is even made quite overt by lecturers, who will speak on the one hand of privilege and oppression, before lightening the mood with a bunch of memes. If you hope to do something more practical with your degree, like learning anything at all about social research methods, this is not the degree for you. read more
