AVOID this course at all costs. I was treated like absolute rubbish on this course. Where to start? - I was accused of faking my mental illnesses because I “smiled†in my tutorial. I offered to provide proof (which had nothing to do with the nosey good for nothing) However he declined - depressed people don’t smile!! - I and several others were ridiculed for not having tutorials with our tutors. If they’d actually done their research, they’d have seen i once waited for 4 HOURS for my tutor - before finding out the poor guy had forgotten!! He turned up, no apology. *This same wonderful gent once turned up to a lecture, high as a kite. - The same, mental health assumption lecturer made one of my friends cry during a lecture, due to her shyness to speak up. Yep. - Your filming space is a classroom with black curtain. Yup. - About 20 edit suites To be shared between all the years. Have fun fighting for those. :) Stay away from this course. Chris is a lovely man, deserves better. read more

The course teaches you a lot about going into industry, what to expect, workflow etc which is great, but if your looking for them to teach you about actual drawing/artwork we received none of that, very much was “here’s the project now go do it”, so there wasn’t really any ways they taught you have to improve your artwork, techniques etc. which is disappointing. Overall, o did enjoy the course, the friends I made and I guess it forced me to improve my art myself along the way, teachers are very nice and down to earth. read more

It’s a great course to do regardless of sewing or drawing ability - the tutors will help you to figure out what you’re good at and play to your strengths! As for employability, they encourage you to do a placement year (which is completely worth it) and provide help and opportunities to guide you to get one! The broad but in depth knowledge you get from this course lends itself so well to the industry and companies actively seek out graduates! read more

I studied fashion art direction MA at MMU and I very rarely take the time to write reviews however, I felt this one was to be honest, brutally important. The course felt like a wild rollercoaster the whole time and I can honestly say that I never felt settled at MMU, I can’t speak for the undergrad courses because I got mixed reviews from other students however I know the people on my course felt very similar to me. Basically I am writing to tell people contemplating this course to look into it thoroughly and make sure it’s right for you and make sure they have improved their course structure, make sure you get some actual time with your tutors because I never did, I never felt like I really had one... I understand MA’s are supposed to be independent however this one in particular was like teaching and exploring things myself, most of which I did at home without any input from anybody, I never met any industry professionals or people of interest in my year at MMU. read more

The teaching was good to begin with but had a huge drop off come the second module. Although a whole unit in this course focus’ on us creating a diverse and specific cv, which will make us look far more employable, I do believe that far more time should have been spent on learning us our available options once leaving, and allowing us to create better ties with the industry, of which help would be given, rather than us having to do this all on our own. read more

I have just finished my first year of Photography and can say I have learnt and experienced far more than I thought. The facilities are amazing apart from the lack of computers and film scanners in the Benzie building. The teaching help and support I have received so far is great. There are loads of opportunities to go to artist talks and meet really skilled photographers. We went on an amazing trip to Tokyo also. In the first year of this course I can confidently say it is value for money and you gain a lot of experience and learning throughout the year. read more
