Nights Out
Live Music Venues
Wolverhampton has a widely recognised live music scene. There are several venues that bring in both national and international music acts, The Civic Hall is definitely one to keep a close eye on.
Nightclubs
The city has all the big-name clubs you’d expect to see. Some student favourites are Popworld, The Planet Nightclub and Blossoms Liquor and Grind. These clubs are all conveniently located close to each other so hopping from place to place is very easy.
The Light House is an arts centre and cultural hub with an independent cinema showing both current blockbusters and the smaller, classic or international films you might not get a chance to see elsewhere.
Public Transport
The university operates a shuttle bus that hits all the campuses and the city centre. Make sure you’re carrying your student ID at all times if you want to get on. Wolverhampton is well connected by rail, which is handy for heading home for the holidays. You can be in Birmingham in 23-minutes, Reading in 2 hours and London in 2 hours 25 mins.
Eating Out
Around the University of Wolverhampton, you will find an abundance of cafes, restaurants and other food outlets particularly aimed at students. Some popular spots are The Royal London, Isushi, Aromas de Portugal, Hogshead plus so many more to discover. In the city centre you will find all your well-known high street favourites, often these chain restaurants give student discounts so make sure to check before you head out.
Shopping
In Wolverhampton city centre, Mander Centre and Wulfrun Shopping Centre you’ll find all the shops you’ll need. If you are after a few more shops and making more of a day of it, head to nearby Birmingham which is known as one of the best shopping cities in the UK!

Days Out
Football is a big deal and the city is fiercely proud of their team the Wolverhampton Wanderers or ‘Wolves’ and it is definitely worth a visit to the stadium to watch them play. If nothing else, get to know the home colours (orange and black) so that you don’t have to point at the telly and ask “Who’s playing?” when they’re on.
Nothing makes you forget your exam stress like lazing about in a green grassy park. They’ve also got a boating lake, so grab some friends for a fun afternoon out.
Wandering around this Victorian manor and gardens will give you a chance to slow your brain down and enjoy your surroundings for a few hours without any other distractions.
If you really need to get away, don’t forget that you’re actually not that far from beautiful countryside. Pack a bag and a tent and take the day off.

Small city. Night...
Small city. Night life used to be much better - not so good anymore. A lot of people will ask you for change on the streets. Good amount of pubs and some hidden gems for food such as the Desi Yew Tree just outside of the town centre. All in all, not the best place to stay for years on end. Can be quite depressing at times but it does have potential to become somewhere much better given proper investment into infrastructure and local services. read more

Cheap accommodation in centre. Mander centre has plently of shops. Cheap restaurants, plenty of take aways. Not many places to go on a night out, not much of a night life, but wetherspoons is ok. Plently of transport links to Birmingham running all day. Unfortunately Wolves has a lot of rough sleepers and drug users. Area is rough, not safe to walk around by your self at night. read more

Mander and Wulfru...
Mander and Wulfrun are pretty s***ty, but Birmingham is a twenty minute train away ;) Public transport network is good, albeit difficult to understand for a newcomer at times. Lots of places to eat out, with some superb pub grub available. I've been told the nightlife is pretty good - apparently faces is great. Cheap to live - I shopped for one person on as little as £12 per week - usual spend was £25. read more

Nice and affordab...
Nice and affordable, with accommodation and food (and drinks) to survive the week it costs less than £200 which compared to other places I have looked at its not half bad. Also alot of restraints and nice places, but not much green area. Also go out for just a week and you've seen everything wolves night life has to offer, not many new places to explore or places which differentiate from others. read more
It is very cheap...
It is very cheap to live in Wolverhampton, there are a few restaurants readily available that are very decent. The night life is slightly poor, and the cost to travel to Birmingham where the nightlife is better is pretty expensive, especially the taxi home after going out. Shopping is okay but you can catch a train to Birmingham where the shopping is outstanding for £5 return. read more
