Ambleside is a ok place to live as long as you are ok with a lot of tourists. because there is a lot of tourists the cost of most things is a bit more. public transport was expensive and most pubs had high prices. an upside is that the pubs are nice to eat and drink at. for a student I would recommend the golden rule pub because it is the cheapest and serves nice drinks. for food I would recommend the Tap Yard even though it is a bit expensive. read more

You’ll never be short on pubs as there are LOADS in Ambleside. There is a co-op and a Tesco for food shopping that are moderately priced. There are buses that run through town but they are quite pricey. Shopping is great if you’re into the outdoors as these are basically the only type of shops here. read more
